Is Harvey a chav name?

I think it's cute but have a warning bell that it might be chavvy - does the Katie Price association ruin it, or am I being a pretentious twat worrying about such things?

it's chavvy, trust your warning bell.

tiredemma · 25/05/2011 15:05

what defines a 'chav' name?

Amaretti · 25/05/2011 15:07

It 's nasty

GwendolineMaryLacey · 25/05/2011 15:09

I think so. I've wanted a Harvey since I was 10 years old. Unfortunately, as soon as I'm in a position to use it, it's unusuable. :(

DELHI · 25/05/2011 15:22

I like it, but KP has ruined it in my opinion.

Hullygully · 25/05/2011 15:29

What about Charvey?

FunnysInTheGarden · 25/05/2011 15:31

Charvey is a fab name, it does what it says on da tin............

CandyS · 25/05/2011 15:38

I used to love the name Harvey (acos of the rabbit movie/play), but any name I can say in a chavvy voice; ''Arrrrvey" is a deffo no-no to me.

tiredemma To me a chav name is anything people can instantly go 'oh there's a character on suc&such called that', or, as I said, sounds normal said in a chavvy voice.

Hullygully I dnt fink Charvey is unique enuff, I will call my boy Prince Charveylous.

randomimposter · 25/05/2011 16:35

It just reminds me of KP :(
I know a Carvey (not sure if that's how it's spelled?); he's a gorgeous little boy actually.

LouMacca · 25/05/2011 16:35

Think Harvey (and Harley) are both awful but wouldn't say it's chavvy.

MadameCastafiore · 25/05/2011 16:36

Yes I think it is pretty vile.

freesias · 25/05/2011 17:41

definitely ruined by miss price . not sure whether that makes it chavvy . i think 20 to 30 years i would have seen it as rather posh a bit of a hooray henry type name .
i think harvey as a dogs name often a soppy labrador or a furniture retailer.

spiderlight · 25/05/2011 17:46

I know an absolutely lovely little Harvey and it reminds me of giant invisible rabbits more than anything else :o But then I've just had to Google to see who Katie Price was, so I'm probably not the best judge of chavness!

pinkytheshrinky · 25/05/2011 17:46

Nice name for a dog

Bucharest · 25/05/2011 17:47

Yes.

LittleMissFlustered · 25/05/2011 17:48

The only Harvey I have ever known was an utter chav. Mind you, I only found out his name was Harvey through my daughter. Listening to his mother you would have sworn he was called Ivy >_

Sparkles23 · 25/05/2011 18:41

I don't think the name Harvey is chavvy at all, it certainly wouldn't be my choice of name but I wouldn't say it was a chav name I think names like Jayden, Ethan, Demi, Keanu, Britney etc.. are chavvy- basically anything blatently named after a celeb. Also I think KP named him after her Grandfather who was called that (I may be wrong) which I think is lovely and does warm me to the name I think.

Ariesgirl · 25/05/2011 18:43

I used to teach a little Harvey. He was very cute but a terrible little chav. Lovely kid, but a royal pain in the arse....

sharbie · 25/05/2011 18:44

its didn't used to be but it is now.shame when this happens.

usualsuspect · 25/05/2011 18:47

No
Theres no such thing as a chav name

donnie · 25/05/2011 18:52

Harvey is right up there on the summit of chav mountain, along with Jayden, Brandon,Britney, Karleigh...........

think Daniella Westbrook in her 'coke-nose' period, decked out in Burberry with a pitbull and an E17 dwarf for a fella. That's the image.

I didn't think of Katie Price, the name wasn't nice my tastes well before she choice it.

To me, Harvey is an over-weight belching beer-swiller.

olddeuteronomy · 25/05/2011 22:04

Wouldn't choose it but don't think it is particularly 'chavvy' - know a very nice Harvey aged about 25 who is not in least bit chavvy.

Edmundo · 25/05/2011 22:24

I know of a handful of non-chav M/C Harveys, so I would say no. It's one of those names that's used by all.
