Just wondering what you all think the next 'on-trend' names are going to been...???

These names will be popular when our children name their children, as for them these names will be unusual (wheras we associate them with our mums and mother in laws etc).

You just have to look at what's in the top 100 baby names. www.activityvillage.co.uk/top_baby_names_of_2010_revealed.htm DD2's is 93rd most popular and DD1's isn't in the list at all (Josephine - Josie) , which means you never get named things with her name on. Saves me buying lots of crap on the one hand, on the other she does get disappointed when she can't find one with her name on. Especially when there is one with DD2's name on! I have assured her the name isn't totally unique :) and often point out people with her name.

I like Jago, that was one of my favourite boy names had DD2 been DS2. Though if I think DDs had been boys they'd have been Henry and Arthur.

I agree, names like Pauline, Sandra, Maureen, Brenda will probably be revived in the next generation. I quite like Sandy for a girl anyway. My mum is Pauline Sandra :)

I know two little girls called Esme already so there are two parents out there that think the name is unique. It isn't. I live in a small, small world.
The same for Elodie and Isla.

Did somebody mention Pippa? I think that will grow and grow.

What are the latest celeb baby names...isn't that usually a factor?

tortilla Sidney and Arthur are my two favourite boys' names. DH doesn't like Arthur though, and I think I only like Sidney because it was my granddad's name. About to call my first baby Isobel Edith (am 34+2) - Isobel is still popular but declining in popularity and Edith very old-fashioned but I reckon it's due an uptrend :)

Around here we still seem to be firmly in the Brandon, Brody, Ashton, Lily, Leo, Max, Ellie-Mai phase .

Alfie is also ten-a-penny (although I quite like it) .

Oh, and Olivia - actually that must be the girl's name I've heard the most recently.

The only three babies I know personally this year so far have been Sophie, Henry & Zen (boy) .

Niamh is everywhere where I live. Also, Bobby for a boy.
Friend just had a Tess - love that.

I would assume that anybody called Tess was actually Theresa though....

CANNOT BELIEVE Esme is trending - we thought of it years agao as a shortening for esmerelda - was going to be a future DD's name. bloody bloody twilight. Gutted.

When I chose dd2 name, Claudia, I had not heard of any other dc in our area with the name, I really hope it stays that way. Having named ds Archie 71/2 yrs ago and now there are loads of 4 yr olds with the name, it can't happen twice I hope!

Nooooo - not Amos! My ds is nearly 4 and Amos (in fact all four of my children have been mentioned, but they are 10,8 and 5 - so if they are only just beginning to be 'on trend' I don't mind, as they will miss the class full of 5 Pearls or whatever!

I predict Penelope and Daphne for girls, and Douglas and Hector for boys.

Esme has been popular around here for ages, along with Florence etc.

Talking about our mums' era names coming back, I loved Linda for a girl when I was pg last year but DH vetoed. And we had a boy anyway (whose name has been mentioned twice here, but I really hope doesn't become too popular).

Oh and surely Kate/ Catherine and, as earlier posters suggest, Pippa will be back with a vengeance.

My husband wants a 'progressive' name?!? (whatever one of those are!) When I quizzed him, he said our little peanut is going to be a doctor, Vet, Lawyer or Chemical Engineer (he's one!). I had to point out to him that we can't dictate what our little peanut is going to be. He's insisting on:
William for a boy and Charlotte, Elizabeth or Rebecca for a girl because 'Dr' goes with those names and our surname!?!

Our new reception intake have got some weirs and wonderful names. They include an Anya and Trinity (actually lovely girls. I taught two of three of their older brothers). I thought one was called Ernie until I realised it was Emie.

where there many Dianas in 1981?

I've met too many Reubens and Finlays and lots of Amelias and Abigails. There was a Kai when I was in hospital too. I definitely expect Finlay to be on a popular list for 2011.
