What are your most favorite names ever?!

So now that we have covered which names set your teeth on edge, which ones do you find to be utterly delightful? (And just like last time, if you don't mind, which continent/country do you hail from? :) )

My personal style is so eclectic, I couldn't even begin to describe it!! I do tend to love the more frilly names for girls, like Isabelle and Genevieve, and solid names like Josiah and Nicholas for boys. (North America)

Once again, my goal here is for this to be fun and informative... Grin If someone happens to mention a name that you personally find detestable, PLEASE do not mention that here... That is what the other thread was for! I would love for us all to have fun and just enjoy our differences! ;)

Soo looking forward to hearing your favorites! Here's a toast to each of us and our own unique individuality!! Wine

birchykel · 05/05/2011 19:51

I am having a girl in 7 weeks.....and I keep coming back to the same name which is Alice, it was my nans name but I think its pretty too. I did like Arthur for a boy. Xx

swingingcat · 05/05/2011 20:05

I adore the name Dylan and imagine it to suit a very high spirited wee boy with an angelic grin!

randomimposter · 05/05/2011 20:13

OOOO, I love...
Jerome
Gregory
Malachy
Rafferty
Joseph
Jago
Jude

Genevieve
Eliza
Clemency
Clara
Tess
Rosanna
Nell
Melissa
Luisa
Jemima

Emilia

BUT many would sound ridiculous or wouldn't be appropriate with our surname and DS's name which isn't on my list, as neither of his names are my favourite names, but mean a lot to me in terms of who he was named after and why.

I bloody love names, me Grin...

valiumbandwitch · 05/05/2011 20:19

yeah it's a great sadness of mine to only have two names. Two children is plenty -but only two names Sad

kalo12 · 05/05/2011 20:23

I love Diana for a girl and Damien for a boy but I will have to wait at least two generations before these can be used.

overmydeadbody · 05/05/2011 20:23

Mungo

It has got to be the coolest name ever for a boy.

feralgirl · 05/05/2011 20:45

Polly
Isolde
Rosenwyn

Rufus
Arlo
Dylan

These are on The List for DC2, due September.

I like Violet ...but DP wouldn't go for it...
Melissa (but knew one and she wasn't very nice!)
Alissa (from Alice - my Gran which DD1 got as a middle name - DD2 is Alicia for same reason - no imagination!)
Hazel
Jasmine
Holly
Also Daisy and Poppy -until I found out they were the names Jamie Olivier called his children...

Boys - boring family names I'm afraid ...Thomas and John/Jonathan

Poppyjen · 05/05/2011 21:22

mslucy · 05/05/2011 21:22

Apart from dc names:

Iris, Ada, Esther, Arielle, Ione, Aoife (see Oisin)

Isaac, Ezra, Idris (except for ginger beer association), Oisin (but not Irish so would not use)

olddeuteronomy · 05/05/2011 21:47

And Esme

in UK

razzlebathbone · 05/05/2011 21:56

My DCs are Edie Magdalene and Johnny Angelo.

I love male Italian names but wouldn't use one as a first name as I'm not brave enough and just doesn't seem quite right as I'm not Italian. But I love Lorenzo, Franco, Nero...and Angelo is just so dreamy :) .

For girls (apart from the splendid Loveday I've already mentioned and my own DDs names), I love:

Cleo
Sylvie
Georgie
Clover
Elsie
Kitty
Devrey
Morvern

cityangel · 05/05/2011 22:02

Harper... can't use but just love

rosy71 · 05/05/2011 22:04

I love reading about names!

Girls: Lucy, Eve, Rosie, Emily, Isabel, Eleanor
Boys: Alex, Ben, Jack, Jacob, Joseph, Oliver

Quite boring really, but I like them!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 05/05/2011 22:05

One of my most favourite boy's names is Meredith (said with a Welsh accent and brought up in Wales, obviously! Wink). I love love it. Twas never going to happen though. (We are not Welsh and do not live in Wales. It would have been daft.)

My favouritest girl's name is Lydia. Classical and beautiful. Liddie is a lovely nickname. DH veto'd it because of Lydia the blardy Tattoo'd Lady. Hmm We have boys anyway. Grin

DownyEmerald · 05/05/2011 22:12

Boys: My fave name is DPs! But also Lucas and Idris.

Girls: Giselle (but can't use because a Gisela in the family (with german pronunciation)

baskingseals · 05/05/2011 22:21

forgot to say Slyvie - just love that name

Donkeyswife · 06/05/2011 00:29

ooh, love discussing names!

Boys
Sebastian
Daniel
Edward
Tobias (if I had a Tobias, I'd shorten to Toby)
Noah
Mohan (Indian, I'm not Indian so would feel a bit daft calling a child by this name)
Ahmed

Girls
Isobel
Isabella
Amelia
Rani
Ellen
Jemima
Ruby
Bessie
Rosie
Molly

My dcs names are mixed in there somewhere. I chose quite traditional names for our dcs as I've got quite an unusual name and have spent my whole life correcting people's pronounciation of it!

Donkeyswife · 06/05/2011 00:31

ooh forgot to add Bridget, Daisy and Alyssa for girls. Gosh, I need to have more kids!
