a middle name for Daphne

A few weeks to go, don't know the sex of Violet's (dd1) brother or sister. Happily, we're sorted for a boy's name and have both fallen in love with Daphne and all her flapper charms, but are looking for her middle name. Our surname ends with F so middle names beginning with A & E are best avoided.

What do you think of the following?:

Daphne Isadora ( I like the meaning, gift of Isis- a connection with Africa)
Daphne Isabeau
Daphne Luna (I adore, dh doesn't like because of similarity to Lula, dd1's middle name. I don't think that's a problem.)
Daphne Lilac (I think v v pretty/ slightly offbeat, dh had agreed but now backed out - thinks it sounds like a paint colour. In fact Daphne Lilac is the name of a shrub. Lilac would also be a connection to Violet)
Daphne Octavia (dh's idea, my eighth pregancy - mixed feelings whether that fact should be celebrated)

Any other suggestions?

I have to say, I love Daphne Luna. Suggest it to DH again just after you've given birth, when he's weak and susceptible

What about Daphne Indigo? A bit out there, but it retains the connection to Violet and the I-name thing. Disclaimer: I am also pregnant and thus prone to making wacky suggestions.

Love Daphne Elizabeth - but see you're avoiding 'e'. Don't like Lilac, Luna, or Isabeau ( surely a boy's name?). Isadora llovely, and Daphne Octavia sounds great, but I see your point. However, if you think this will be your last go, it could be a nice way to mark your journey? Does that sound ridiculous?

If you like 'i', how about 'isolde'?

I also like Daphne Thalia (thalia is greek for "to bloom") which would be two greek names.

Charity girl, Daphne Isolde also lovely, I think the 'I' just flows so nicely.

Mumcenterplus - because it's a gorgeous name, of course! We've already made that decision. There will always be those who hate their name, not always because it's a terrible one. Daphne Guinness/ Groeneweld certainly don't seem to be lacking in confidence. The time is right for a Daphne revival! She's got a lot of fans.

It does seem to need a vowel after it doesn't it? Good luck! Daphne and Violet - is like a '20s novel!

I really like the name Daphne. I love the Greek mythological connection and it makes me think of flapper girls too! I do think you will get a few raised eyebrows to start of with but they will grow to love it :)

I love some of your names, particularly Primrose and Pearl. But Pearl I love so much I would not renegate it to second place and would rather keep it as a first name for a future child (dh vetoed it this time around - so wouldn't agree anyway) I prefer it as a first name as I think it sounds a bit more common as a second name, iyswim.

Middle names beginning in A would render the initials DAF, which I'd rather avoid, particularly for Daphne!! Rather her nickname were Fnee, if she actually needs one.

Also, Beatrix not allowed as her cousin's name is Betrys, a Welsh variation of Beatrix.

Emmeline is a diminuative of my name, and I've always found it pretty, but DEF - not good.

Bet it's a boy after all this!!

the first name that came to my mind was Elisabeth for some reason, but as dapper's it would make DEF. Would not bother me though.

dapper- I'm pleased you liked Pearl and Primrose as those were the two which I thought fitted your style the best!

I think DEF is fine personally. DAF not so good but not a disaster either.

DEF (meaning cool) would be a bit burdensome for a mixed-race child - not terrible I know but, if it could be avoided....

DAF not terrible either, but might encourage a nickname I'm not too keen on

dh has suggested Daphne Camilla - not too keen, Parker-Bowles association etc
he also likes Blossom - hmm
We had tentatively agreed on Daphne Octavia, which I think sounds and looks lovely, only a little stern?
Still like Daphne Lilac.
