I can't decide...

It just popped into my head and won't go away but I can't tell if it's awful Grin.

David Cameron used it............

Tolalola · 05/04/2011 15:43

Oh bugger. You're right.

Hideous

stickchildren3 · 05/04/2011 15:50

i've got a florence (got in there just before Camerson did - bloody copycat!) and she's flo for short. every person we told adored it (yes they might have been being polite but truly I don't think they were!). We love the name obviously, but she can be a nightmare baby!

Calixte · 05/04/2011 15:55

Beautiful, forget Cameron , nobody will remember in a few years anyway. Also there is always a famous person/ character etc called the name you like unless it's really really rare.

londoner01 · 05/04/2011 16:01

flo is lovely
florence in full i dislike because there was a nasty bossy girl named florence in my primary school!!

Janoschi · 05/04/2011 20:52

I prefer Flora.... Florence sounds a bit flouncy to my ears....

surelynotnormal · 05/04/2011 20:53

Ugly, dumpy.

Flo is worse.

Nagoo · 05/04/2011 20:54

I've got a Florence (2nd name)

TigerFeet · 05/04/2011 20:55

DD2 has Florence as a middle name after MIL. I love it.

MIL goes by her middle name as she hates Florence so much... she was a bit Hmm when we told her.

Flora is lovely too.

DaphneHeartsFred · 05/04/2011 20:55

I know a Florence. We call her Fluffy. She's only 3 though, I can't imagine she'll allow 'Fluffy' when she's older!

I love the name.

TigerFeet · 05/04/2011 20:55

nn Flossie

fab :)

Tolalola · 05/04/2011 22:24

Yes Flora is another one I really like, and Fleur, too.

I found a Florence Beatrice (nn Flonnie) while I was doing my family tree and it sort of stuck with me, but I wondered about it being old grannyish.

I'll just have to choose one of Flora, Fleur or Florence for the shortlist and ruthlessly discard the other two.

I love it. I like the nn Florrie. It is very pretty.

LaydeeC · 05/04/2011 22:28

I'll get flamed but here goes...
I really dislike it and also, Flora, Fleur, Flossie, Flo etc
Totally appreciate that others like it (and would not like names that I have a penchant for) but it sounds just a bit bleugh to me.

Newgolddream · 05/04/2011 22:48

We are all different eh and I seem to be in the minority but its boring and old fashioned and Flora just makes me think of the margarine.

SolarPanel · 05/04/2011 22:58

Florence is lovely, much prefer it to Fleur (rhyming with bleurgh) or Flora (margarine).

LuckyWeKeptTheCot · 05/04/2011 23:03

Nice. We were very tempted but called her Cynthia instead.

pilates · 06/04/2011 16:27

No not keen at all.

qwerty123 · 06/04/2011 19:31

bananamom · 06/04/2011 21:20

So bored of it, FOUR of my friends have Florences now!!

CPtart · 06/04/2011 21:21

Yes, hideous!
