has called her new baby Polly. I am feeeeuuuurious. That was the name of my hypothetical future daughter. I even told DH last night that I had decided on it and he wasn't going to change my mind this time. Then what's the first thing I see on the internet this morning? Kym Marsh welcomes baby Polly.

Yes I know she has suffered in the past and this baby is 5 weeks premature and they are lucky to have her safe and well etc etc but Kym, why oh why did you have to use Polly? It'll be in the top 10 in no time along with Bertie, Betsy, Eliza and all the other names I like which have recently been nobbled by the slebs.

Sad

Aw that must be infuriating Sad but on the flipside, people that don't like her will decide not to use it because she has! Grin

FoxyRevenger · 24/03/2011 11:02

I don't even know if Kym Marsh is on anyone's radar any more, much less the name of her children...

DirtyMartini · 24/03/2011 11:05

Oh, nobody will name their kids after hers - honestly, don't worry.

Glad her dd is safely here :)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 24/03/2011 11:07

Thicky here, who is this individual of whom you speak?
Polly is a bloody horrible name anyway if that helps at all.

ThisFeelsWeird · 24/03/2011 11:07

I am honestly very happy for her to have her DD safe and healthy after all they've been through - I'm not taking anything away from that - just really wish she'd called her Ruby Grin

kreecher she's in Corrie (formerly of Hear'say "Pure & Simple, I'll be there for you... blah blah" ring any bells?)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 24/03/2011 11:13

Nope, can't say any bells have been rung. I have been out of the UK for ten years and do have a DD called Ruby Grin

BornAgainDomesticGoddess · 24/03/2011 11:15

I honestly think your DD had a lucky escape. Polly is a very soppy name. I don't think it the kind of name that would really take you far in life.

Bonkerz · 24/03/2011 11:17

im sure Lorraine Kelly said it was HOLLY

ThisFeelsWeird · 24/03/2011 11:18

Fair enough BornAgain - my DH will be thrilled anyway as he will know I won't want to use it now. When I first mentioned the name he said "As in Lunn?"...

Bluebell99 · 24/03/2011 11:20

I like Polly and I don't think anyone would name a child because of Kim Marsh. I do know an adult Polly but don't think I would want that name as an adult myself. Very cute tho. My first doll was named Polly, obviously when I was a child!

BornAgainDomesticGoddess · 24/03/2011 11:22

Please can we not mention the LK lady please Bonkerz. It makes all the awful memories of the sight of her fanjo come flooding back...

BendyBob · 24/03/2011 11:29

Polly..(put the kettle on)

bamboobutton · 24/03/2011 12:39

nothing wrong with the name Polly

it's not done me any harm and anyone over school age that sings 'polly put the kettle on' is obviously an idiot who can be safely disregarded

MeRightYouWrongMeBigYouSmall · 24/03/2011 12:44

BornAgain you saw Lorraine Kellys fanjo???

BornAgainDomesticGoddess · 24/03/2011 12:47

"BornAgain you saw Lorraine Kellys fanjo???"

Yes. There was a link to it on a thread here, a few days ago. Honestly, don't search for it. You will regret it.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 24/03/2011 12:57

I do regret it. I couldn' t believe that the fragrent Miss Kelly would get her minge out for the lads. How did that happen and do you think she is aware of it.

ValiumSingleton · 24/03/2011 12:59

I love it. FOr a long time now I've wondered why it's not more popular, so OP, if you were planning to use it thinnking it would stay unusual I think you would be wrong. So KM has done you a favour! It will definitely rise in popularity.

What about Sukie!?

ValiumSingleton · 24/03/2011 13:01

Ps, does a sleb having a normal name make a normal name suddenly unusuable.

I wouldn't use Apple or Blossom, I'd consider them UNusable. But Polly is too normal to be suddenly rendered unusable overnight! jmo

ThisFeelsWeird · 24/03/2011 13:21

It doesn't render it unusable in Moses sort of way, Valium it just means that it will rise in popularity now in the same way that Bertie, Eliza, Betsy have done... just puts in it people's minds. I bet it's in the top 100 next year. It isn't at the moment.

OP posts:
Whelk · 24/03/2011 15:04

Polly is a lovely name. I bet it won't become uber popular. You should still use it
I must say I'm really pleased for Kym Marsh after the terrible time she has had.

puffling · 24/03/2011 15:07

It's not that uncommon. Shouldn't make much difference.

ValiumSingleton · 24/03/2011 15:26

I do know what you mean. I wanted to call dd Vivien (it was one of two names I loved but x hated both) and so when Angelina called her daughter Vivien I felt a bit sad. Even though I was going to have another child.

ValiumSingleton · 24/03/2011 15:27

wasn't going to i mean!

oohlaalaa · 24/03/2011 15:34

Kim is not famous enough to influence your decision.

If Victoria Beckham had called her daughter Polly, then people may think you have copied.

If you had not said, I would not know what Kim Marsh has called her daughter. I would never assume that a friend has copied Kim Marsh.
