ThatVikRinA22 · 17/03/2011 22:51

dearprudence · 17/03/2011 22:51

Rowan.
But I have no idea if this is correct.

LeChatRouge · 17/03/2011 22:52

I used to nanny for a Rohan and we said Row Han.

JennyPiccolo · 17/03/2011 22:53

Row-Han, i have a friend with this name.

DitaVonCheese · 17/03/2011 22:57

Interesting. I've only ever heard it pronounced Rowan before but heard someone calling a Ro-han the other day.

I know two Rohans, one pronounced Ro-HAHN and one RO-wan

lilyberry · 17/03/2011 22:57

Roe-han, although could be like Rowan too. I think it's like Evelyn: it has variants.

Greenwing · 17/03/2011 23:33

Like Rowan

GrimmaTheNome · 17/03/2011 23:36

I think I'd mean to say Ro-han but in practice it would tend to sound like Rowan.

Row Han

lovely!

BonzoDooDah · 18/03/2011 00:25

Careful if you're using it as a name - there are the Riders of Rohan in Lord of the Rings and it's also an outdoor clothing shop - a posh one though.

BonzoDooDah · 18/03/2011 00:26

Oh and most definately Ro-Han

CointreauVersial · 18/03/2011 00:30

I know two Rohans.

One (adult) is pronounced Rowan.

One (child) is Ro-han.

I prefer the first, tbh.

wobblyweeble82 · 18/03/2011 07:12

Roe-an. Lovely name btw.

AmandaCooper · 18/03/2011 07:17

I would pronounce it as they do in Lord of the Rings. I've never heard of it as a name though.

meditrina · 18/03/2011 07:22

I know a female adult with this name, pronounced "Rowan".

For the outdoor clothes, I say "Row-han".

So it might be the sort of name when you frequently have to correct pronunciation. Would that bother you?

Mum2Pea · 18/03/2011 12:19

I love this name! personally would pronounce it as Ro-han or Row-han.

I have a question related to this name which i planned to post!

When you say you would pronounce it Ro-Han
do you mean Han as is rhyming with Ham/Pram or
Han as in rhyming with pun/gun

I am indian and we are considering the name for a mixed race DS but are concerned it would be pronounced with a harsh A (like ham) rather than a soft a (like the middle a of Adam)

thanks!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 18/03/2011 12:21

I know two Rohans, both are Row-Han

hilltop666 · 18/03/2011 22:13

Really like this name it on our list I would be pronouncing it Ro-an, we are Irish so I think this is the Irish pronounciation. Didn't realise there was an Indian version.

Tuschinski · 19/03/2011 14:37

Rowan, as in Rowan Atkinson.
