OH read an entire baby name book last night and this is what he came up with. Thing is, I quite like it Blush

It's too silly, right?

Yes. It's silly.

SecretNutellaFix · 17/03/2011 15:01

It is very silly.

It sounds like an exclamation from a surprised elderly relative. "By Jove!"

CuppaTeaJanice · 17/03/2011 15:02

By Jove, that is a really silly name.

Iklboo · 17/03/2011 15:04

Isn't it short for Jehovah? I think it was a way of sort of blaspheming without saying the whole of the name.

Iklboo · 17/03/2011 15:05

Ah, apparently another name for Jupiter.

TheGreatStupendo · 17/03/2011 15:05

He was the most powerful of the Roman gods, or something like that, according to our baby name book.

weimy · 17/03/2011 16:16

PepsiPopcorn · 17/03/2011 16:53

You'd get sick of "By Jove" jokes.

banjomanjo · 17/03/2011 17:37

zingally · 17/03/2011 18:42

By jove! PLEASE DON'T.

meditrina · 17/03/2011 18:45

Nn for jovan? [ clutching at straws emoticon]

Bunbaker · 17/03/2011 18:48

By Jove was the first thing that came to mind. I have an Irish friend and she says this all the time.

Please don't inflict this name on your child.

lilyberry · 17/03/2011 19:23

By Jove!

No.

Sidge · 17/03/2011 20:20

Jupiter is vaguely useable depending on where you live and what your surname is.

Jove is just a bit daft.

PepsiPopcorn · 17/03/2011 20:26

How about Jonah, Jude or Joel?

TheGreatStupendo · 17/03/2011 20:27

You guys are no fun Grin

PP, I quite like Job but OH not a fan.

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 17/03/2011 21:19

CuppaTeaJanice · 18/03/2011 12:07

Big job? Blow job more like!

PepsiPopcorn · 18/03/2011 12:08

Joe?

Buda · 18/03/2011 12:09

An Australian friend called her DS Jove. Have lost touch so don't know there were repercussions!

MackerelOfFact · 18/03/2011 12:17

Jove is bad but Job is awful - boob job, blow job, hand job, Saturday job, good job, bad job - nonono!

TheGreatStupendo · 18/03/2011 22:05

(You know Job is pronounced Jobe, yes?)

Bunbaker · 18/03/2011 23:21

I know, but seeing it written down will call for a lot of derision from the unenlightened and especially children.
