Due very soon and love this name - just canvassing opinions. Is this the best spelling of Mai? How do people feel about hyphenated names?

Don't like hyphenated names at all. And how are you pronouncing Mai. I would assume it is My, but think you may be going for May, in which case spell it May, or possible Mae

Erin is very nice, bit don't like hypenated names (what's the point?) and every baby girl born this decade seesm to have May/Mai as a middle name. Like every child born in the 70s/80s seems to have Louise as a middle name.

How about just Erin?

Erin is a nice name. I don't like May as a middle name purely for the reason its SO common nowadays. Definitely not hyphenated.

Not keen on Erin, it's a bit faddy and awkward to say.

May as a first name would be nice.

There are a thousand children with a hyphenated name and Mai/Mae/May in every school/village/town/city in the country.

It's really, really common (as in frequently used) at the moment.

Erin is lovely. Just don't bother with the hypen or the Mai.

Well, she may or she may not.

Definitely don't hyphenate. You'll ruin an otherwise lovely name. Love Erin. Know lots of fab ones.

My DS would have been Erin if he had been a girl so I obviously love the name. Mae/May/Mai is everywhere as a hyphenated middle name so I would steer clear personally.

The beauty of the name Erin is in it's simplicity so hyphenating it spoils it completely in my opinion.

Agree that every second girl seems to have the middle name May/Mae at the moment. Why is that?

Don't hyphenate.

Erin May (separate names) would be my choice. Don't hyphenate!

Also agree, Erin very nice alone.

I'd have May as her middle name (but not with the Mai spelling - I really don't like that, sorry).

know someone with an Ellie-Mai (when she was born) and she put it on all the birth announcements, on the facebook pics/status, on the text messages, but after a while (baby is about 18mo now) she has gradually dropped the "Mai" more and more because most people pronounce it "My" or just put "May" whenever they write it down for bday cards or whatever. In my opinion it just looks a little bit like you're trying to change the spelling for the sake of being different. I know my friend was, and it backfired! Erin May or Erin Mae are lovely names!

A large number of girls at the moment are something-Mae/Mai/May or something-Rose or have either of the names as a mddle name.

I agree with the others just use Erin.

Erin May is my choice for a girl. love Erin, and both my grandmothers had May in their name (one as first, one as second)

Really don't like your spelling though....sorry
