been reading through old threads and most people like the name. Do any of you actually know anyone with the name?! Or is it a name that people like but don't actually use?

It is an old lady name but absolutely lovely as long as you plan on having a girly girl and remembering the nickname is dul.....

blueberrymuffins · 13/03/2011 13:52

My Nan is called Dulcie.I wanted to name my daughter Dulcie but mt mum said not to because my Nan had hated it all her life. I didnt want to upset my /nan so I chose another name.

Go for Dulcie!

blueberrymuffins · 13/03/2011 14:08

EmmaBGoode · 13/03/2011 15:11

It's a bit drippy. I know one who is about 20 years old now. All her friends call her "Dul".

IlsaLund · 13/03/2011 15:17

I think its a beautiful name

noddyholder · 13/03/2011 15:18

There was a fantastic actress called Dulcie Gray. If i ever had a girl she would have been called Dulcie. It was my Dads nickname for my Mum too!!

blueberrymuffins · 13/03/2011 15:25

what about Dolcie?

OP posts:
littletrain · 13/03/2011 15:30

Sorry I really dislike it.

Underachieving · 13/03/2011 15:30

I don't hear "dull" and I don't hear "Doris" either. To me it brings to mind caramel deserts because of it's similarity to the word sweet in some other languages. It was on our shortlist for DD2 and I think it is one of those names which people like but then don't use. If we had a Dulcie I think her nn would end up being Dolly or perhaps Candy, I don't know why, I just think so. Usually excessively girly names put me right off but for some reason I make a huge exception for this one.

BodyUnknown · 13/03/2011 18:38

I love this name. I have met one, she'd be around 26 now, and as soon as I heard her name I wanted it for my hypothetical daughter. Sadly, though, it was vetoed by everyone (as was my other favourite, Bridget) so I suspect that if you were to use it, you'd get very mixed reactions.

theagedparent · 13/03/2011 18:53

I have a 6 year old Dulcie, she never gets called dull just Dulce sometimes. It is a beautiful name x

blueberrymuffins · 13/03/2011 19:04
