Your toddler's ideas for your baby's name?

My DD (2.8yrs) says that if the baby is a girl, it should be Bumbo-ee and if it's a boy, Dog (which has a certain ring about it) Grin.

Share your toddler's brilliant ideas for names.

Isobel. Which is HER name, silly girl. Also 'Cat' and 'Baby' Smile

PigeonStreet · 07/03/2011 22:10

viking baby

pirateparty · 07/03/2011 22:10

Edie McCredie (of Balamory fame) Grin

springsniffle · 07/03/2011 22:11

DS1 also suggested naming DS2 after himself, must be a common toddler idea Smile.

wearymum200 · 07/03/2011 22:14

DS1 thought that "Gentleman" would be a good name for DD2 (and we knew she was a girl and had told him so.....)

cece · 07/03/2011 22:14

DD suggested Booby or Umbrella for DS1 Hmm

Wigeon · 07/03/2011 22:15

Well, naming DC2 after DD would certainly cut down on the hours DH and I are spending discussing baby names at the moment - at least there is one name in the world we both definitely like Grin!

DD (then 18-19 mos) said DS (then 'bump') should be called 'this'.
She's now 23 mos and he is 4 weeks and has been referred to as 'pirate' by her since he was born. (no idea why!) :)

Wigeon · 07/03/2011 22:17

Umbrella! There's got to be at least one child in the world called Umbrella I should think. That reminds me that one of DH's cousin's girlfriends is Thai and her name is actually pronounced "Shampoo". DH's (English) family attempt to say it with some kind of faux Thai accent but it still sounds like Shampoo.

DS1 suggested Noddy for DS2 and Squillie as a middle name for DD Millie.

Underachieving · 07/03/2011 22:17

Large gap between my kids but DD1 did suggest JessJess for a friends baby... JessJess is her Dads dog.

FaintlyMacabre · 07/03/2011 22:20

DS1 (2.5 at the time) suggested 'Bread' for DS2. We were struggling for a name at the time and I briefly considered a bakery themed name, but luckily sense prevailed.

EveryonesJealousOfGingers · 07/03/2011 22:23

My friend's DD (3.6ish at the time) suggested Barbara for a girl and Basil for a boy :)

pranma · 07/03/2011 22:24

dgs wanted Strongy or Fuzzy for the new baby

Purplefan · 07/03/2011 22:26

Our DD who is now 5 said we should call our DD2 (due next week) Fruit - because when combined with our surname it makes the name of a very sickly sweet drink that children like!!! Grin

She came up with it herself - a great sense of humour!!

working9while5 · 07/03/2011 22:31

When I was 6, I wanted "Snow White" or "Kevin".

She was a girl, but she isn't called Snow White! Smile

Linnet · 08/03/2011 00:14

dd1 wanted to call her sibling Star if a girl or moon if a boy. She got a sister but she's not called Star, not because I didn't like it, I thought it was a fantastic name but because I didn't have the guts to use it.

Limelight · 08/03/2011 01:07

Robin for a boy, and Little John for a girl. You can see what he was obsessed with at the time...

greenzebra · 08/03/2011 09:48

We asked my little brother in law, he suggested Valdos the lizard man. We got him to draw a picture to, to embarass him when hes older

nitnatnaboo · 08/03/2011 11:10

DS1, (5) likes:

Lady Gaga for a girl
Peggy Mitchell for a boy Confused

Frame for the middle name ConfusedConfusedConfused

aliceelinsmum · 08/03/2011 11:14

Alice thinks all babies should be called Alice, boys or girls.
My stepson, who's 10 is coming out with things like Trevor, Neil, Paul - strange

venusandmars · 08/03/2011 11:22

My dd1 told my friend that dd2 might be called Beetroot, because she would be a bit red (obviously reading too many books about babies being born).

When my BIL was born he was named Douglas - the suggestion of his older cousins. Took 2 years to find out that they'd named him after the Douglas DC8 that they'd flown to America in Grin

Firawla · 08/03/2011 11:38

I just asked mine this q this morning, he offered the suggestions of wilson brewster and koko...
But other times I ask him to pick a name for something/someone he always says Keith!

Kagey · 08/03/2011 12:08

DD (2.5) is eagerly awaiting the arrival of either Bignose (if boy) or Littlenose (if girl) - funnily enough they are not on our shortlist :)

MrsBloomingTroll · 08/03/2011 12:46

DD says I'm going to have a baby Jack or a baby Sam.

We don't know the sex - maybe she knows something we don't?

Neither name is bad, but not on our list, don't go with our surname.

I think she is just borrowing names from her nursery classmates...
