Your toddler's ideas for your baby's name?

My DD (2.8yrs) says that if the baby is a girl, it should be Bumbo-ee and if it's a boy, Dog (which has a certain ring about it) Grin.

Share your toddler's brilliant ideas for names.

DS1 (5.5) wants the baby to be called Jesus (he really got into the school nativity this year, despite DHs & my agnostic approach to religion). DS2 (2.5) prefers Dopey (too much Snow White).

There was much arguing aobut it, but they have managed to come to a compromise on a 3rd name: Poopoo.

Trying to steer them gently into more conventional quarters.

DD (5) wants Daisy Rose for a girl.

peeriebear · 08/03/2011 13:38

Haha! Love these. When I was pg with DD2, DD1 suggested we call the baby Poodle.

itisntreallyme · 08/03/2011 17:33

DD (not quite 2.5) immediately suggested Car for a boy. Then, after much consideration, Choo Choo Twain, for a girl. We haven't asked her again since!

Fantastic - loads more ideas for our shortlist I think Bread, Little John (for a girl), Alice (unisex) and Car are definitely in the running.

We've had "chair", "backpack" and "trowel" so far. From 4.3 yr olds.

IWillNotNeverEatATomato · 08/03/2011 18:28

DS1 (3.5) wanted to call DS2 (if he had been a girl) 'Flower'

he wants his new cousin to be called 'bumble' or 'melly' (who knows what goes through their minds)

SarahScot · 08/03/2011 18:37

DS (3/6) wants his sister to be called Emily, in fact as far as he is concerned she IS called Emily and has told everyone he meets. It's not on our shortlist but is a definite improvement on his initial suggestions of Curtains, BigWall and CharlieWilson.

dd1 wanted dd2 to be called Pinochio Grace. When the dr came round for his visit thats what she told him she was called. (She was actually called Rebecca)

kerrygrey · 08/03/2011 20:35

Big (3y.o) brother has decided new sister will be Pigeon Minger Custard.

EveryonesJealousOfGingers · 08/03/2011 23:08

Grin kerry love it!

zipzap · 08/03/2011 23:42

DS1 (then aged 2) wanted ds2 to be called RoRo (as in 'row row row your boat...')

We used it as the 'tummy name' for ds2 as it was suitably gender neutral (hadn't told anyone we were having a boy) and helped ds1 feel part of ds2's arrival. Bizarrely everybody seemed to pick up on it and several really did think it was going to be his real name... Hmm

When he did arrive it took us 4 weeks to decide on his name so he was known as RoRo for a long time, only now almost 3 years on has it dropped out of regular use.

Was very tempted to use it at the registry office as his middle name but dh wouldn't allow Sad Grin

blackeyeddog · 08/03/2011 23:46

When pregnant with dc2 , ds (5) wanted Molly if she was a girl (nice) and R27 Confused for a boy.

MamaLazarou · 09/03/2011 08:55

Loving Gentleman and Choo Choo Twain Grin

When we were little, my brother and I asked my mum if the new baby could be called Spider.

montylady · 09/03/2011 16:25

My son wanted to call our baby "Copper chopper"!!!

mathanxiety · 10/03/2011 17:37

Whoopi, Harlem, PomPom and Samantha suggested for various babies. (Harlem not so bad imo -- better than Bronx at any rate)

SooooCynical · 10/03/2011 17:51

DinoBoy

poppysocks · 10/03/2011 17:57

DD1 (then 2.5) was adamant that DD2 should be called Gravy Elvis. Glad we didn't go with it.

ShowOfHands · 10/03/2011 17:58

3yo dd likes Josephine Flora and Roscoe Solomon. I'm desperately disappointed. But she says they're going to be her children, if I have another baby I can use a boring name like 'Tom' apparently.

MyDingaling · 10/03/2011 17:59

My DD wanted to call the baby in mummy's tummy Raspberry Jam.

PutASockInIt · 10/03/2011 18:05

2.10 year old DS suggested Yellow-Paint (prounounced Lello-paint) for his brother. Failing that, March-Paint or Garden.

stressedbutluvem · 10/03/2011 18:37

Captain rex or Trooper are top of the list - girl or boy.
Star wars rules in our house at the moment as you can probabyl tell.
