We're so undecided on names for baby no3 I thought we could use some help!!

We currently have a 2nd in line to the throne and a little white and yellow garden flower!

So, we've narrowed it down to.........

Girls
Florence Poppy (dd is desperate for a Poppy!)
Harriet Rose
Iris Elizabeth

Boys
Edward Peter
Henry Peter
My Dad's called Peter so that's a cert

Thanks!!

I quite like them all equally! Sorry, that is no help at all.

meditrina · 04/03/2011 12:08

The boys names are both lovely, my preference would be for Edward.

Of the girls, I like both the first two choices (not so keen on Iris), but would probably reshuffle and go for Harriet Poppy.

Hedwig3 · 04/03/2011 12:10

Iris Elizabeth

or

Henry Peter

Love the name Peter Smile

Henry and Peter are both lovely names, but together they're Horrid and Perfect.

MamaLazarou · 04/03/2011 12:15

Harriet and Henry

weepootle · 04/03/2011 12:17

Harriet but don't like Rose, then Florence Poppy. Don't like Iris.

Like both boys names.

FlingonTheValiant · 04/03/2011 12:21

Isn't Henry the actual name of Prince Harry? I know Harry is a nickname for it. How do you feel about having a royal pair?

I prefer Edward, but it's very popular. Could you not have Peter as a first name?

I really like both Florence and Harriet, but I think Florence + flower middle name + flower sister is too many flowers, so I would also say Harriet Poppy/Rose.

ConstanceFelicity · 04/03/2011 12:22

Iris and Edward.

FlingonTheValiant · 04/03/2011 12:23

see here for Prince Henry

JoanofArgos · 04/03/2011 12:26

Harriet and Edward.
Florence is pretty but there are going to be billions of them shortly.

PepperPotts · 04/03/2011 12:29

Thanks everybody!!

That's exactly my concern about Henry, but he is more widely known as Harry and the flower sister is in the middle so I wasn't sure how many people would notice it!

Funnily enough DH loves Peter as a first name

Am equally unsure about 2 flowers, DD is mad keen on Poppy but I keep telling her we don't live in flowertot garden!

I was a florist until ds was born so am very keen on lots of flower names.

This is so much more complex third time round!

Then go for Peter I say.

Could you have a more unusual flower? A less well known one? It might seem less, well, twee (for want of a better word).

jugglingjo · 04/03/2011 12:35

Poppy Florence - would delight DD
We let DD1 choose name for DS (from a selection of suggestions Wink )
OR Florence Poppy if you prefer ( Florence is a beautiful city ! )

And it has to be Edward Peter as we have an Edward and I think it's worked out really well for him.
Ed is quite cool, Eddie is quite cute
and there's all those lovely teddy references like Edward bear for Winnie the Pooh Smile

Onion1968 · 04/03/2011 12:36

Harriet Rose is classy, Florence Poppy sounds like the kind of name a tv presenter would give their kid, Iris Elizabeth is ok.
Do not like either combo of Edward or Henry followed by Peter but if you swap it round, Peter Henry is nice.

PepperPotts · 04/03/2011 12:38

Twee is my concern! I thought Iris wasn't quite as "pretty-pretty" as some others which I like (Rose, Poppy, Violet)

Trouble with Peter is to me it's my Dad, my Dad is fab, but he's 63, I just can't see it as a baby/tot/teenager.

I agree about the million Florence's too. But Florrie is so nice!

mollymole · 04/03/2011 12:48

i love Harriet Rose but, so sorry, can't bring myself to like Peter at all, but henry or harry as a 1st name is lovely

jugglingjo · 04/03/2011 12:49

If my children are ever looking for suggestions for their children one day I might suggest Rose, as I had a Rose as a great-great grandmother and she was pretty cool, having 11 children, and going out to Canada to help her younger sons build log cabins and her daughters in law to have their babies !

One such daughter in law (my great-grandmother) was a Florence.

Didn't use any of this family history though when naming our two - Just special experiences and flowers which we love too Smile

Can definitely imagine a grand-daughter one day, Rose or Rosie ! That would be nice Wink

lilibet · 04/03/2011 12:51

Iris and Edward for me, I think Rose is beautiful but when it's a second name I always want to say -

Harriet rose from the chair and left the room. (Sorry!)

ivykaty44 · 04/03/2011 12:52

Florence Poppy and Peter Henry

GORGEOUSX · 04/03/2011 12:53

Harriet Rose and Edward Smile

8rubberduckies · 04/03/2011 12:54

Iris and Edward from me too, although in the context of your family I am also not sure on the wisdom of having two flowers.

Lonnie · 04/03/2011 12:55

Girls
Florence Poppy (dd is desperate for a Poppy!)
Harriet Rose
Iris Elizabeth

Boys
Edward Peter
Henry Peter

I like Iris Elizabeth personally and I would use Edward not Henry to avoid 2nd and 3rd in line to the throne... Smile However yuo may get comments on 2 flower names and if thats a issue I prefeer Florence over Harriet

Janus · 04/03/2011 12:56

I like them all!

Love Florence, on my shortlist too but am concerned there will be loads this year. Really like Iris and not so keen on Harriet (but that's only because my older daughter gets some abuse from a big bruising Harriet so very personal to me!). We have a Rosie so obviously like Rose as a middle name, like Poppy lots too. How about a cuter form of Elizabeth as a middle name (I love Betsy!!).
Boys, I have to say I know quite a few Edwards, I like the name and especially the shortened 'Ed' and 'Eddie', just as long as it doesn't bother you that it's quite well used at the moment. Henry on my shortlist for boys!!
I'm on number 4 and definitely know what you mean about choosing yet another name!!
