This has been suggested on another thread.

What do people think?

Also, Roland or Rowland?

Makes me think of Grange Hill.

deemented · 30/01/2011 16:54

The Rat.

onimolap · 30/01/2011 16:54

Roland Rat (sorry).

AnnOnimous · 30/01/2011 17:02

As above, first thought Grange Hill, second Roland Rat.

Not for me.

PorkChopSter · 30/01/2011 17:24

Grange Hill and the rat.

Except only those over 30 would get the joke.

banjomanjo · 30/01/2011 17:27

Grange hill for me too

ValiumSandwichTime · 30/01/2011 17:27

Love it!

reallywoundup · 30/01/2011 17:28

i know of a rather dishy 20-ish Roland, not sure if that helps in any way......

AllieW · 30/01/2011 17:36

I'm not keen. Even though his peers won't get the references, Roland is often shortened to Roly. If he's not as svelte as he might be, it could give rise to unpleasant nicknames.

LetThereBeRock · 30/01/2011 18:09

It does make me think of the rat,but I still like it.

dawntigga · 30/01/2011 18:12

Absolutely not as I know a child molester by that name.

Makes me think of Grange Hill

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/01/2011 19:41

I just think of Roland's friend Janet in Grange Hill saying Row-land.

Edmundo · 30/01/2011 21:13

Grange Hill here too.

alemci · 30/01/2011 21:25

"I'm trying to help you Row-land" seemed to feature heavily in our vocab in 1983 and the series. classic phrase. LOL

ShakinScarecrow · 30/01/2011 21:25

Browning or Rat, sorry!

MogTheForgetfulCat · 30/01/2011 21:51

I love it, makes me think of Song of Roland - but then I studied medieval English at university Grin. DH vetoed it on Grange Hill grounds Sad.

Casmama · 30/01/2011 21:53

Rat or I think the fat kid in Roald Dahl's The Witches but not 100% on that one.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/01/2011 21:55

Everytime I hear that name I think

'I only want to be your friend Row-land'

Bearcrumble · 30/01/2011 21:56

I ONLY WANT TO HELP YOU RO-LAND.

Casmama · 30/01/2011 21:56

Just checked - it was Bruno in The Witches so sorry about that but it still reminds me of Rowland the Rat

rolandweary · 30/01/2011 21:57

I am a Roland. I am stupid and fat and mean, and smell like bacon no matter how much I wash.

MrsDeidreIppy · 30/01/2011 21:57

Sorry but Rat

GandalfyCarawak · 30/01/2011 21:59

Love it with a w

Ondine · 30/01/2011 22:54

I think Roland is better than Rowland. Rowland looks like a surname.

But tbh it's not a very attractive name.
