Rohan or Rowan??

Due our second baby in April - got a name decided if it's a girl, and love the name Rohan for a boy. My problem is how do you spell it for how I want it said (if you know what I mean)! Would Rohan be said Ro - Han? I like Rowan (said Ro-Wan) but prefer the spelling of Rohan! Also do you think Rowan is a suitable girls name? We've fallen in love with this name and think we could maybe use Rowan for a girls middle name? :)

I know a boy called Rohan and a girl called Rowan if that helps....!!!

PaisleyLeaf · 13/01/2011 17:57

I know boys and girls called Rowan.

weimy · 13/01/2011 18:00

Rohan makes me think of The Lord of the Rings and the riders of rohan. Rowen for a boy Rowena for a girl???

PfftTheMagicDragon · 13/01/2011 18:02

Unless your child is on its way to Mordor, I suggest Rowan

Hulababy · 13/01/2011 18:04

One of my neighbours has a little boy called Rohan - pronounced Ro-han (with a long o sound).

tebbles · 13/01/2011 18:07

I would say Ro-Han. I see them as very different names.

BelligerentGhoul · 13/01/2011 18:10

I like both but prefer Rowan - dd2 would have been it, had she been ds. I'm not fond of it as a girls' name though.

Rowan

[biased] Grin

DS1 is Rowan but I also knew a female Rowan a few years ago. Fine for both imo.

TheMonster · 13/01/2011 21:29

Rohan is pronounced ro-han.

WishIWasRimaHorton · 13/01/2011 21:30

ah - PlanetLizard you and me both

deemented · 13/01/2011 21:31

I know a fab lady called Rowan - she's fiesty and funny and her name suits her very well.

I do prefer Rohan for a boy and it was on our list.

Rowan. I wish I'd used it for DS!

coco2901 · 13/01/2011 21:36

I would automatically pronounce Rohan Row-Han and think of the outdoor clothing brand

OOh, I love Rowan. In fact if I ever have a girl, unlikely, but if I did, it would definitely be Rowan. I fell in love with it after watching the Wicker Man. It's lovely. Definitely Rowan and not Rohan.

vintageteacups · 13/01/2011 21:43

Rowan or Roanne for a girl
Rowen or Rohan for a boy- all are nice.

I had a friend called Roanne.

goplayout · 13/01/2011 21:52

Rowan is too unisex for my liking.

Rohan - outdoor clothing,sorry.

I know a boy called Rojan (soft J sound), do you like that?

vintageteacups · 13/01/2011 22:02

Rojan is nice goplay.

Rannaldini · 13/01/2011 22:04
