Ive made a huge mistake :(

Just regsistered my baby as Sienne...and I regreted it almost straight away.

Wish I had gone with Arianna now :(

what was I thinking :(

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter.

What does your daughter's father think?

I assume you are in the UK? If so, it is easy to change your baby's name up until the age of one year. After one year, it is possible to change her name but more complicated.

We are in the UK. My OH didnt mind if it was Sienna or Arianna and I was unable to make up my mind in the waiting room.

How do I change it??

Both names are lovely. I would just add Arianna in front of Sienna. Go back to the registrar and ask.

Are you sure its not because you had to make a quick descision in the waiting room and now you are doubting it/

If I were you I would wait a few weeks with this name and see how you feel.

You have a year to change it and if shes tiny now the name won't make a difference to her.

I think both names are lovely btw.

You can change your baby's name...perhaps someone else will be along soon who know better than me how you do this.

Fwitw, I initially regretted the name we gave to my second baby (DP's choice as I found it hard to settle on a name) but quickly grew to love it. I gave myself time to hear baby called her name and now glad didn't change.

You'll know what you want to do, you have option to change.

I think you will regret it whichever you choose, if you really couldn't decide. This is kind of a sadness for the one you didn't choose because it's too late now.

You can change it up till a year old but I'd do it sooner rather than later to avoid confusion. Call the register office where you made the appt and ask them x

How quick can you change it? do you make another appointment? Does my OH have to come with me again (we are not married) how much are the new birth certificates??

Sienna is a lovely name. Give it a few weeks to see how you feel. I've just changed my DD's name at 5 months see here hth.

you can change the name by deed poll at any age. we changed DDs at age 2. we had been calling her by her nickname from birth pretty much, but registered her as a the full name, but never used it, she didn't realise she was called that name. so changed it legally

Im such an idiot. Aperturescience, how much were the long birth certificates to re buy, and did you just have to make an appointment again?

Too many syllables in Arianna - bit of a mouthful. Sienna is a lovely name.

You're not an idiot. Lots of people do this. It's fine, it's fixable and both the names you like are nice. Your daughter is very lucky to have such a caring mum Smile

Ring your reg office to see if you need an appointment. I had to go there, fill in form, new certificate cost £9 and will be posted out this week.

Sienna Nicole is lovely..but as you have decided to change it I would do it straight away. Ring the registrar and ask them the questions you have :)

I had 'wobbly' moments after registrations, but as far as I was concerned the baby had been named & they certainly grew into their names. I couldn't have changed them at all..certainly not 5 months in.

However, if you really are unhappy..it has to be done.

shes 2 and a half weeks atm, and we havnt told anyone any names yet.

Why is the certificate posted out to you and not given on the day??

Arianna Nicole sounds less good and is really hard to say...I much prefer Sienna Nicole!

I think you have a beautiful name there. Don't panic, see how it goes. Is there a reason you don't want Sienna for her name?

Personally I far prefer Sienna to Arianna, but its your DD.

I would change it if your not happy, its early enough to and you will regret it otherwise. I would wait a week to see if Sienna 'grows' on you and if not I would change it.

Why were you there registering her in the first place if you hadn't made up your mind? How long do you get to do it? Was it the last minute?
