Whatever I think about the actual name, falls into my category of 'no' if there is any possibility the child will not be able to pronounce it. Not being able to say R sound quite common, and the replacement W sound really doesn't make for a good name. Sorry.

moondog · 04/01/2011 19:38

Sweet mother of God, noooooooooo.
Hideous

LetThereBeRock · 04/01/2011 19:39

It's awful, and immediately makes me think of The Krays.

pooka · 04/01/2011 19:40

Kray.

No. Don't like.

angie85 · 04/01/2011 19:41

we naming him after my partners grandad who passed away 2 weeks b4 we found out i was pregnant

In that case I'd use it as a middle name, but still not as a first name.

bibbitybobbityhat · 04/01/2011 19:44

Oooh, I rather like it.

But I love Ralph, pronounced Ralph not Rafe.

How about Stanley?

annh · 04/01/2011 19:46

I think your partner's grandad will probably have been named Reginald anyway, rather than Reggie. Using the proper name is marginally better but I would still use it as a middle name only.

angie85 · 04/01/2011 19:50

ur all entitled to ur opinion but we like it and baby due on friday not gonna change it now

OP posts:
LetThereBeRock · 04/01/2011 19:51

Why on earth did you ask then? What was the point if you'd already made your mind up?

theagedparent · 04/01/2011 19:51

I like it x

annh · 04/01/2011 19:52

So why did you bask then?

pooka · 04/01/2011 19:53

Agree reggie is a middle name-name.

But then don't know why you're asking really.. C

dirnty · 04/01/2011 19:53

noooo, he'll get referred to as a Kray twin his whole life Wink

bibbitybobbityhat · 04/01/2011 19:58

What a waste of fricking time!

freerangeeggs · 04/01/2011 20:03

I dunno, I kind of like it! Definitely fits in with all the Charlies and Stanleys and Franks that I keep meeting.

Can anyone imagine teenage friends named Charlie, Stan, Reg and Frank? How weird.

angie85 · 04/01/2011 20:04

just wanted to know wat people would think as both our families say they love it but then they would so just want points of view sorry if u feel i wasted all ur time

OP posts:
LetThereBeRock · 04/01/2011 20:07

If you're set on naming him Reggie then surely it doesn't matter what we think?

I do think it's nice that you're naming him for your dp's grandfather though.

Congratulations on the soon to be new arrival anyway.Smile

ZiderDrinker · 04/01/2011 20:10

It's a great name, especially for the reason you are choosing it. Go for it.

Spidermama · 04/01/2011 20:11

I think Reggie is a great name, due a comeback and would be a lovely tribute to your partner's grandad. It's also unusual and pretty cool.

angie85 · 04/01/2011 20:12

thank u to those who have actually appreciated me putting this on xx

purpleiris · 04/01/2011 20:50

I know a Reggie, he's about 4. And he's a little stunner!

[Don't apologise for wasting time! Only time wasted is their own snide remark-making! It's fine to want opinions, and not surprising that if they're not all positive you'd be a little hurt!]

evamummy · 04/01/2011 21:28

I like the reason you're choosing Reggie (to honour your partner's granddad) and I like the fact that it isn't as overused as Charlie, Jack and Alfie etc.

I can also understand why you'd like to know people's reactions to your chosen name - don't feel you're wasting our time Smile.

seeker · 04/01/2011 21:31

PLEASE name him Reginald if you must - then call him Reggie. it's horrid, in my opinion, but if you're set on it, then he deserves the proper name on his birth certificate.

scurryfunge · 04/01/2011 21:35

If you like it then go for it. I think Reg or Reggie is quite cool and there will not be many about. Would probably avoid Reginald as the full name though.

I think you may have started a new trend.
