I prefer the spelling Zane. Doesn't excite or annoy me, otherwise.

headfairy · 23/12/2010 17:42

hate it I'm afraid, either spelling.

euracantha · 23/12/2010 17:52

I like it, my neighbours son name is Zane which I prefer.

orangepoo · 23/12/2010 17:55

Zane is OK, really don't like Zayn.

TmiEdward · 23/12/2010 17:56

Zane is much preferable to Zayn.

Personally, I don't like it. I would judge Grin

catinthehat2 · 23/12/2010 18:10

MW is being diplomatic I think.

HalleLouja · 23/12/2010 18:11

Zack - much nicer.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 23/12/2010 18:14

I prefer the spelling Zane. Not too keen on it but only because nn would be Zany.

shushpenfold · 23/12/2010 18:15

Yak, yak, yak....I'm with your Mum!

blondiemermaid · 23/12/2010 18:28

My 2 yr old is zane and I love it no one else did but my baby my choice Grin
Don't worry about other people especially people who judge you because of it Hmm

rachel234 · 23/12/2010 18:41

Zane is nice - cool and masculine. Much nicer than Zac (which sounds harsh and unfinished imo).

dietcokesholidaysarecoming · 23/12/2010 18:45

I initially didn't know how to pronounce it.

If you are going to use the name then prefer Zane.

Your child will be saved from a lifetime of spelling it too x

slhilly · 23/12/2010 18:52

It's a nice name: Arabic, means beautiful. I've seen it spelled Zain too.

Bunbaker · 23/12/2010 18:53

Is it a boy's or girl's name? I admit that I don't really care for it.

SilveryMoon · 23/12/2010 18:56

I like it.
I know 2 of them, both under 6. They are both spelt Zain but one in pronounced Zane.
I do like Zain

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2010 19:00

MW will only give you a diplomatic answer.

I think there are going to be a lot of Zane/Zaynes in the next few years because of One Direction.

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2010 19:01

How is Zane pronounced differently to Zain? Confused

QueeferSantaland · 23/12/2010 19:06

Zane/Zain.

Not Zayne.

dietcokesholidaysarecoming · 23/12/2010 19:07

I assume the Confused icon is aimed at me. When I initially saw the thread title I thought how is that pronounced. Then I opened it and saw Zane and thought ahh that's how it's said.

SilveryMoon · 23/12/2010 19:11

Well because Zain is pronounced Zayn and Zane Zaan.........isn't it?

I think Zain is the arabic version. My friend's brother's son is called Zane, he's about 12. Its ok but prefer Zane/Zain to Zayn.

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2010 19:13

No, SilveryMoon has said she knows 2 Zains, but one is pronounced Zane.

LynetteScavo · 23/12/2010 19:14

Is it SilveryMoon? Do you live outside the UK?
