after months of disagreement have finally decided to change dd4 birth cert from felicity cecily arabella to arabella felicity cecily .

the history is felicity was dh's only option but i disliked it . cecily was my prefered option . arabella is a compromise .

problem is i really feel felicity cecily even as a middle name doesn't flow properly , is to much of a tongue twister etc .also i think the initials afc could be a problem.

for these reasons i really want to remove cecily as a third middle but struggling to come up with an alternative .would like a name with a positive meaning

our surname begins with w and is 2 syllable .

options include

clara but initials afc again

octavia as she is dc8 but is this to long with the other 2 names and also initials afo

miriam love the meaning wished for child

rose after a close relative who is a rosalind which i don't want to use . the problem is with our surname itsounds like a stage direction . also is rose just a filler.

rosanna as above

gladys after my grandmother but too old fashioned

or should i stick with cecily

opinions gratefully received and any other suggestions

I do think Arabella Felicity Cecily is a bit of a mouthful but how often does someone use all their names?

Octavia would have a nice meaning but I do think it would be a bit long

Clara is nice and I think would go well

Miriam is also lovely

Rose would flow nicely and has a nice meaning so IMO wouldn't be a filler for you

I also like:

Anne
Claire
Emma
Eve
Elise
Lucy
Katherine
Lily
Violet

HTH!

miriam without a doubt

thell · 04/12/2010 12:06

I think Octavia is lovely - how many people actually get to use it for an actual 8th child?!
People hardly ever use all their names anyway.

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:06

i think miriam is my favourite with rose a very close second

Why do you need three?

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:09

thell i am sorely tempted to use octavia.

i would have loved to use it as her first name but dh refused on the basis it's a skoda !!

Tortington · 04/12/2010 12:09

rabella felicity octavia cecily

you should have octavia, arabella, felicity, cecily

that spells

OAFC

Oldham athletic football club

GO ON THE LATICS!

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:10

need three because other dcs all have 3 and don't want her to feel as though we'd run out of ideas

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:14

custardo afc - arsenal football club is my main reason for wanting to change her middle names .

although i did live in oldham for 2 years and loved it there

even arabella fc sounds like an italian football team

LoopyLoopsOfSparklyFairyLights · 04/12/2010 12:18

Have you thought about a third that is a little less... posh? Just in case she does want to use one of her middle names, she may as well have a variety.

Arabella Rose Felicity?

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:22

loops exactly the reason i worry about using octavia and prefer rose or miriam

dh loves the name felicity . he has at least moved to it being a second name don't want to push my luck by asking for it to be demoted to third place.

LadyInaManger · 04/12/2010 12:26

Arabella Felicity Rose sounds lovely and theres no weird initial problems as far as i can see - AFRW!

How about May or Ester (Esther) for a 3rd middle name?

LadyInaManger · 04/12/2010 12:29

Meant to add that as Arabella has 4 syllabels and so does Felicity then maybe the 3rd name should have 1 or 2 so it's not such a mouthful.

Would Jane be an option? (or Jayne)

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:30

ok which of these

arabella felicity rose westward sounds as if arabella felicity is about to stand up or is that just me . as has been pointed out she will rarely /never be referred to by all 3 names and her surname and it definitely flows better imho than arabella felicity cecily .

arabella felicity miriam westward . love miriam's meaning

OP posts:
Longtinsellyjosie · 04/12/2010 12:34

I really would stick with Arabella Felicity Westward. There are only so many syllables to go round...

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:35

lady in a manger love esther nearly used it as a first name but just doesn't work with our surname Sad

jane can't use as dh has a great aunt with that name with whom he didn't get on and therefore it's a definite no .

may was my grannys second name so have considered it

OP posts:
smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 12:37

long tin other dcs have 3 names and really feel we need to give her 3 names .as if not she may always feel she was hard done by and we had run out of ideas

OP posts:
goplayout · 04/12/2010 13:05

Oh definitely Arabella Felicity Rose Westward

As Arabella and Felicity both have 4 syllables imho the 3rd name should only have 1 syllable.

Also, Felicity and Cecily just don't sound right together, and from what you're saying you HAVE to have Felicity to satisfy DH.

FWIW one of my DC(13yrs) has Rose as a middle name and she loves it. We don't know anyone else with that name (older or younger), so it's not overly common yet is classic and pretty.... not that I'm at all biased!Grin

busybusybumblebee · 04/12/2010 13:05

Arabella Felicity Rose

Arabella Felicity Mae/May/Mai

Arabella Felicity Mary (form of Miriam) However, I thought the meaning of Miriam was 'sea of bitterness' - Sure it has more than one meaning though!

Arabella Felicity Kate

I'm intrigued to know what all your other children's names are?!

goplayout · 04/12/2010 13:20

Other 1 syllable 3rd names

Arabella Felicity Grace

Arabella Felicity Claire

Arabella Felicity Eve (alhough inials will spell A FEW!)

Agree with busybusy that Mae and Kate sound ok as well.

smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 13:32

love grace but have already used it as a mn for a little girl we had 5 years ago (a late m/c) and also wonder if there would be just too many virtues in one set of names

e names cause a problem because of the initials

felicity is being used to keep dh happy and to keep him on side with the official name change

i really think felicity cecily is too much that was very much a post birth mega hormonal moment .

also if i redon't use cecily this time if we're lucky enough to have number 9 . i might be able to use it thenGrin

OP posts:
smilingserenely · 04/12/2010 13:43

busybusy
dd1 statred it as she was bethany evelyn but as she was very ill at birth and we nearly lost her we added samara meaning watched over or protected by god. as a result the other dcs have had 3 names

OP posts:
LaydeeC · 04/12/2010 14:59

lucky enough to have a number 9 :o I don't think I could ever think of that many names...
