Hiya, basically i'm 24wks pg and we know we are expecting our first little girl (we already have a DS) and have just begun to discuss names but can't seem to agree on many Confused the one we both love atm is Dylan, but both feel that we should prob name her something a bit more feminine seeing as Dylan is largely used as a boys name in the uk and we don't want people to think we have 2 boys when we say the childrens names, trouble is we can't seem to find any feminine names we like! help!!!

What about Dana or Daria.

belgo · 19/11/2010 12:56

Dilys is a girl's name.

BlueChampagne · 19/11/2010 12:59

How about Dilys? Or Olwen?

Ubisex sounds like Latin to me!

tummytickler · 19/11/2010 13:02

Dylan for a girl is daft.
How about Dilys, Diane, Diana.

BarbieLovesKen · 19/11/2010 13:16

PML at Dylana. Grin

Ah, I dont know, I personally wouldnt, no but if you both love it go ahead!!

BeautifulBlondePineapple · 19/11/2010 13:44

I like it. It is a tomboyish sort of name, but I think it's different and kinda cool. One of the girls on the last season of Desperate Housewives was called Dylan.

The name just becomes the person for people who know them IFKWIM. e.g. I know a boy named Romilly so even though it's usually a girl's name I always associate it with boys. And I went to school with a girl calle Jamie so I always think of it as a girl's name.

If you both like it then why not go for it!

Rhubarbgarden · 19/11/2010 18:41

Dinah?

ThatllDoPig · 19/11/2010 20:13

There are lots of strong non girly names. Just avoid anything flowery or ending in 'ly'
What about . .
Anna
Olive
Roberta
Tess
Skye

Or Billy ?

pointydog · 19/11/2010 20:20

No.

Why do people want to give their girls boys' names? HArdly anyone wants to give their boy a girl's name.

stdomingo · 19/11/2010 20:20

I was nearly called Dylan and know a couple of female Dylans.

Turkish female name Dilan is the same pronunciation(ish) if it was an issue that 'Dylan' is perceived by many as a boy's name.

mungojerrie · 19/11/2010 20:52

Rowan?

wigglesrock · 19/11/2010 21:04

I quite like Dylan for a girl, although what about Noa.

nonanny · 19/11/2010 21:11

I would be sure and think about HER--will she want to be confused and have people always commenting on her name if she is the only girl with a boy's name.

Thought of some others: Fern, Fearne, Rain, Storme, Madison, Diamond, Emerald, Destiny

jem21 · 19/11/2010 21:37

i know a girl called darryll,it actually suits her.i have a little girl called finleigh whos 6 yrs.boys names are now so popular for girls,go with what u like.

I quite like Dylan for a girl.

I like Billie too - isn't Dawn French's daughter called Billie?

What about Charlie/Charley?

Showaddywaddy · 20/11/2010 17:16

I like Deryn. I have a friend who is Deryn. Welsh name I think.

Frances/ca is lovely. I have a friend named Frankie too and she's bootiful.

TotorosOcarina · 20/11/2010 17:19

My DD is called Rorie.

But Dylan is very boyish, what about Darla?

LisMcA · 20/11/2010 18:36

I always thought Dylan was a welsh girls name? Dillon being americanized (if thats a word)

Welsh friend confirms, but who am I to question!!

If you love it go for it. It not like you want to call her Harold (v obvious boys name)
