Noooo. Fussy and just not very pretty.

scouserabroad · 12/11/2010 15:32

I think it was the name of an Enid Blyton character, can't remember which book. One with a circus?

catinthehat2 · 12/11/2010 15:33

I like it

Unusual, and unusual initial

YOu spell it how you say it

Not difficult to pronounce or read

won't be any others in her class

Not pink & girly yes, but that is a bonus!

JeanLouiseFinch · 12/11/2010 15:34

Fenella Fudge!

looblee · 12/11/2010 15:37

Smile luckily our surname doesn't start with an F and goes well with Fenella - My OP isn't clear its Daisy I think is cutesy and my DH loves, he's not so keen on Fenella but could be pursuaded I am sure.

A new baby Fenella was greeted with groans from colleagues, from which I gathered everyone hated her name, so sorry, no.

LionsnTigersnBears · 12/11/2010 15:53

Sorry no. Fenella was the mad welsh witch in Chorlton and the Wheelies. Damn I'm old....

nikki1978 · 12/11/2010 16:12

And a character in a Jilly Cooper novel set in the eighties.

No I don't like it. She will end up being called Fen which is a bit shit really.

nikki1978 · 12/11/2010 16:13

Can't you just call her Ella?

Minione · 12/11/2010 16:15

THere's a teenage Fenella at my school and she is known as Nelly. I quite like it but wouldn't choose it personally

Raahh · 12/11/2010 16:20

bah! someone beat me to it with Chorlton and the wheelies...
she was so cool! And green, and lived in a kettle, iirc.

JeanLouiseFinch · 12/11/2010 16:22

Sorry looblee didn't mean to be rude. Fenella Fudge is a newsreader on Radio 2. I always smile when I hear her name as I think it's great.

lilly13 · 12/11/2010 17:33

sorry this reminds me of fennel...

ThatllDoPig · 12/11/2010 17:37

Yes, jeanl Fenella fudge always makes me smile too. I wonder if she has a sister called Rumnraisin. Grin

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 12/11/2010 17:39

I was at school with a Fenella (Fen, always), think it's quite nice.

What about Rosa?

PlanetEarth · 12/11/2010 17:59

Sounds a bit posh to me Grin.

LetThereBeRock · 12/11/2010 18:02

Hideous.

looblee · 12/11/2010 18:18

Ha ha it stirs up some opinions! I always laugh at Fenella Fudge, heard she married into the name as well!

Oh well you all have the same opinion as DH, I love Fenn for a boy you see, back to the drawing board. I'd hate to pick a name everyone sniggered at behind our backs! Smile

spiderlight · 12/11/2010 18:20

Wasn't Fenella the witch in Chorlton and the Wheelies?

CheerfulYank · 12/11/2010 18:21

I've never heard it before. It's not awful.

anonymousbird · 12/11/2010 18:21

We know a Fenella, commonly called Nella.

not my cup of tea, but nothing wrong with it!

But there is the Fenella Fudge thing.. had forgotten about that!

DanFmDorking · 12/11/2010 19:02

Fenella (Manx Gaelic female name meaning 'white shoulder, Irish "fionnghuala") here
Fenella beach is a pretty beach in Peel

joydivisionovengloves · 12/11/2010 19:32

Sorry but I also immediately think of a green witch in a kettle

catinthehat2 · 12/11/2010 19:35

you are a fine one to talk with a name like joydivisionovengloves.

HOW did you get that one??? Grin

HollyBollyBooBoo · 13/11/2010 01:37

I know a Fenella but she's always been called Nellie- by everyone!
