Robin or Isaac

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and expecting a boy. DH and I have been really struggling with names this time round (found it easy choosing one for our daughter - Alice) Anyway, our two current faves are:

Isaac Alexander (surname Mackie)
Robin Alexander

Any thoughts?

Issac

QuoththeRaven · 11/11/2010 11:08

Issac

rjeffrey1985 · 11/11/2010 11:24

Isaac :) That's my sons name

But Robin is sweet too

Mrsmackie · 11/11/2010 11:27

Looking like Isaac the favourite so far - think it is my preference too!

I have an Isaac too and it is a great name

he is 3 so at the moment we call him "Ikey" a lot - no doubt he'll ditch that when he's older but it's v sweet at the moment!

Just get used to lots of people spelling it Issac though ;) (actually it does make me laugh that something like 41 people actually named their son that in 2009 - I can understand spelling it wrong if it's not your son's name, but when you actually give him that name then .... Confused

SoMuchToBits · 11/11/2010 12:52

I like both names, but think Isaac goes better with Alexander, and also matches Alice better.

itisntreallyme · 11/11/2010 13:14

Isaac definitely.

If you call him Robin his initials will be RAM Confused

MollysChambers · 11/11/2010 13:18

Isaac. Love, love, love it.

Don't like Robin at all.

Mrsmackie · 11/11/2010 17:52

Ha Ha - my initials are actually RAM anyway so maybe don't want two of us with the same. I am definitely going to plump for Isaac I think. Know what you mean about the spelling Tamasine - but guess I will have to get used to the idea that some people will spell it incorrectly.

I much prefer Robin.

mathanxiety · 12/11/2010 14:56

Isaac definitely.

ThatllDoPig · 12/11/2010 15:23

A vote for Robin here. Give him a chance! If you stare at the word Isaac for a while it starts looking really weird for a name. IMO

FernieB · 12/11/2010 16:28

Isaac definitely.

Takver · 12/11/2010 16:28

Robin

though Isaac is nice too

mollyroger · 12/11/2010 16:33

robin

nickelbangBANGbang · 12/11/2010 16:51

I love both of them.

I wouldn't be able to choose!

BelligerentGhoul · 12/11/2010 16:55

I like both but think Robin has the edge, as it's a bit cuter!

Lovethesea · 12/11/2010 17:00

Isaac

Stardown · 12/11/2010 17:10

Isaac! Similar to Isaiah which we love and may call DS.

MamaVoo · 12/11/2010 17:31

Robin may be cute but what about when he's a grown man? I know an adult Robin who is quite mortified by his cutsey name and is always called Rob.

BelligerentGhoul · 12/11/2010 17:42

I think it's great for a man too and know a couple of v 'manly' adult Robins - but like you say, there's always the Rob option.

Takver · 12/11/2010 17:46

Well, since the two Robins I know are both grown up (one a 6' 4" keen rugby player), I guess I don't consider it cutesy! One sometimes uses Rob, the other always Robin.

MellowToday · 12/11/2010 17:49

I love Isaac - personally, it's one of my top choices.

Robin is nice too, but I've only know two Robins in my life - one was wonderfully theatrical and camp and the other was a furry little pony!

LetThereBeRock · 12/11/2010 18:02

I like both,but I'd go with Robin.

zachsmama · 12/11/2010 19:26

Isaac definitely.
