These are probably final 2 although we have 2 other backups as well.

Opinions between the two?

Hugo

Spookberries · 20/10/2010 13:21

Sorry meant to also say, can you let me know why you prefer one over the other?

Well, how demanding are you? Wink

I just love the name Hugo, nothing wrong with Elias. DS2 was going to be Hugo...just didn't suit him when he popped out.

Spookberries · 20/10/2010 13:26

[hgrin] Thanks Lynette - just wanted to make sure Elias didn't have some weird alternative meaning or you detested it for some other reason.

Elias. Hugo is just too posh a sounding name IMO!

Spookberries · 20/10/2010 13:33

Valid point expecting - we are definitely not posh and I wouldn't want people to think we were 'trying too hard', if you see what I mean, also Hugo is the one least likely to be favoured by the American relatives.

But pah! [hgrin]

Hugo because it is more international than Elias.
Both posh, but Hugo could be used all around the world.

expectingno3 · 20/10/2010 13:44

Glad I didn't offend. What about Hughie? Could be Hugh when older. Don't take the relatives opinions to heart too much. Its your choice.

Spookberries · 20/10/2010 13:54

Really dislike Hughie/Hugh. We were thinking if we called him Hugo to call him Huggy when young Grin

Ok, What about the other names you have as back up?

smother · 20/10/2010 14:04

I have to be honest and agree that Hugo sounds very posh - and I say that knowing a very 'un-posh- little Hugo so it's a general association not a personal one.

So I'd vote for Elias.

What happened to Arthur and George? Wink they are straightforwardly lovely names!

KenDoddsDadsZombieDogsNotDead · 20/10/2010 14:05

Hugo
Elias is very little house on the prairie

MardyBra · 20/10/2010 14:07

Hugo

Elias is just a little weird to my ears.

Spookberries · 20/10/2010 14:33

Arthur and George were never on my list smother? I think you have me confused with someone else.

I don't want to say the back up names because they're generally viewed on here as lovely but they're far too popular for my particular taste, hence these two which we'd like to use...but the 'backups' are in case he doesn't look like a Hugo or an Elias, which of course is perfectly possible.

Ok, no problem. Hugo is winning 4 to 2 at the moment! - is that making the decision any easier Spookberries?!

Spookberries · 20/10/2010 14:49

All opinions are being duly noted...I do have a spreadsheet for this Blush

minipie · 20/10/2010 14:51

Hugo for me.

Elias is a nice name, but sounds a bit biblical/Amish to me. Also what would be the nn? Ellie?

Spookberries · 20/10/2010 14:53

No nickname mini - we just love the name itself.

OP posts:
Spookberries · 20/10/2010 14:53

Although if folks had to give one - Eli (that's the way the name is pronounced anyway - Eee-lye-us, not Ellie-us, if you see what I mean)

BuntyPenfold · 20/10/2010 16:11

Love Hugo

Not keen on Elias.

smother · 20/10/2010 16:41

apologies, i have got you muddled, there was someone with a longer list of boys' names on here recently that I thought was you Blush

anyway, hope that you get the name issue resolved soon and happily....

Minione · 20/10/2010 18:02

I really like Elias! Hugo is ok but Elias is lovely.

LovestoLove · 20/10/2010 18:36

I agree, Elias is my choice. Particularly if not posh but have to say I'm old fashioned about that Blush

Hermya321 · 20/10/2010 18:38

I love Elias!! It's a good name and on my list.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/10/2010 18:39
