Eva ?

This is outing myself altogether as everyone i know in rl knowss the name im considering but i need outside opinion..

I am naming my dd2 Eva, and am conidering

Eva Aurelia

but my mam has said that this sounds like a uti. my mam hates my dd1s name anyway so i dont know why i care but she has given me a complex about this,

other considerations are

Eva Amber
Eva Ivy
Eva Elenor

What do you think? honestly?

eva/evie/ava are very popular names here, but i'm sure you know that anyway but just love it as a nice name. I don't really like a or r ending names after eva, something more classic like Eva kate, or Eva jane is nicer. please not eva rose/may/mae/or grace as thay are tooooo popular!

Aurelia is too nice for a mn, be brave and call her this, tis beautiful!

If I'm completely honest, I would avoid Eva.

I LOVE the name. But it is very popular, and when you comine it with children called Eve, Evie and Ava, it makes it very common.

DOI - I called my daughter Eva Ariana. After a year of being in parks/toddler groups etc. and always hearing 'Eva/Eve/Evie or Ava' around me, I got fed up and we changed her name to Ariana Eva.

Sorry if not what you want to hear. Gorgeous name, but sadly overused.

Aurelia is beautiful, by the way. It's on my current list for DC2 (don't know sex). Think maybe you could do Aurelia Eva...?

Not sure any of those middle names go with it well though. Need one which flows and doesn't sound like 'either ....'

I'm quite shocked as i have had people quite literally recoil when i have suggested Aurelia.

I know Eva is popular atm but its classic and locally speaking its rather unheard of, neither of the local primary/infants schools have an Eva at all (yet).

And I cant turn my nose up at popular names My dd1 is a Sophie

Aurelia is a wonderful,fantastic,unique and beautiful name. Old, European, ,universal,quirky in a nice way and best of all barely used in the U.K.

Eva on the other hand is nice but please know that it is massively popular and yours will be only one of many Eva's

I would also advise against Eva - it is very, very fashionable (popular) and will date much more than more classic names. I know so many Evies, Eves and Evas that I would also struggle to remember another one...

Aurelia is beautiful - elegant, classic and not overused.

If you do go for Eve I think it might be a bit of a tongue twister together? Might be all the vowel sounds?

Eva is a lovely name but too 'classic' to be followed by Amber, which is trendier-sounding.

I love Ivy (tis my DD's middle name) but Eva Ivy just doesn't look or sound right.

I think you should consider middle names (for Eva or Aurelia) which do not begin with a vowel, for purposes of flow. For example, Eva Ivy will be pronounced 'Eva Rivy' by lazier speakers.

I like Aurelia very much, and I think I would go for something like

Aurelia Grace
Aurelia Rose
Aurelia Dawn

etc if you like more modern names

or

Aurelia Caroline
Aurelia Vivienne
Aurelia Charlotte

etc if you prefer more classic styles

...I really love Aurelia Vivienne actually...

But Eva is pronounced quite differently from Eve and Evie etc

Eva is nice but I LOVE Aurelia. Would have had it for either dd if dh would have let me.

I absolutely love Eva Aurelia and also Aurelia Eve. I say go for it. Aurelia is far nicer than the other names you mentioned.

Eva, Yva, Eve, Evie, Yvie, are all very popular - I know 8 little girls aged under 18 months with these names.

I like Eva Aurelia. Think it 'goes' much better than any of the others on your list. Definitely don't like Eva Ivy.

I agree that Eva is a different sound to Eve/Evie and if you truly love it, then I think you should stick with it or you'll be on here in 6 months asking about changing your babys name to the one you initially liked.

I really like Aurelia...much nicer than Eva and there probably won't be any other Aurelias in her class!

I have an Eva, and whilst we have met other Evies, we have never met another Eva.

It's a classic name, we choose it as it's a family name and I don't think it will date like Evie will

Mum of an Eva Jane here! Aurelia is a lovely name, but maybe quite a few vowels there when combined with Eva?

TBH, I'm only noticing the numbers of Eva/variants of Eva around now but we love it and wouldn't pick anything different for her.

I grew up as a Beveridge SurnameInitial as my name was very popular in the Seventies and it didn't do me any harm (in fact, had another Beveridge not left my primary school I would have been known on artwork on the walls, etc. as Beveridge Twolettersofmysurname!)

CanNeverDecide - I'm intrigued, do you actually call your DD Ariana on a day to day basis now? How did she react to the change?

Eva/Evie/Eve/Ava all blend into one for me. Overused and not classic enough to guarantee that it won't date. It's hardly Elizabeth is it!
