They do sound a bit like your trying too hard.

What suggestions has he come up with?

purpleturtle · 28/09/2010 18:02

I agree with your DH.
Love Noah though.

Hassled · 28/09/2010 18:02

I think your DH is quite right. Sorry. They are really awful.

Noah is nice, though. I know 2 nice Noahs.

BertieBasset · 28/09/2010 18:03

Gawain, as in Green Knight? He would have to a very heroic little boy Smile

I like Noah lots, are there any others you are keen on?

Not sure about Lysander or Rafe

kat2504 · 28/09/2010 18:05

Sorry I agree entirely with your DH! Noah is the best on your list but I'm not overly keen on that either.

Ragwort · 28/09/2010 18:06

Agree with your DH - sorry Grin

Totallyfloaty35 · 28/09/2010 18:22

Ahhh come on,someone has to be on my side Grin
DH has not actally suggested a single name,he has however shot down every one i have put forward.
We already have 3DDs and lucky for us, as we have almost ended up divorced due to the not ageeing on a boys name ever!

ZZZenAgain · 28/09/2010 18:27

no , sorry tf, I'm afraid I'm with your dh on this one. What sort of names did you decide on for the girls, similar vein?

pointydog · 28/09/2010 18:28

I hate them all as well.

Shallishanti · 28/09/2010 18:30

your DH speaks the truth

Bonsoir · 28/09/2010 18:30

Your DH is right. You must have baby brain!

BudaisintheZONE · 28/09/2010 18:32

Sorry but I am with your DH on this. They are all a bit Jilly Cooperish. Fine in a Jilly Cooper novel but not in real life.

PaulineCampbellJones · 28/09/2010 18:33

I love Lysander as I am a massive Jilly Cooper fan !

Tori27 · 28/09/2010 18:54

Lysander is a road name in the town I live in - an industrial estate at that so I'm off that one. I loved Noah until my DD (2 1/2) started saying "Nooowaaaah" instead of "No" which put me off a bit.

DH and I really struggled with boy names - I love Oliver (Ollie) but DH hates it. We only agree on Harry and hoped we wouldn't have twin boys.

We had DD and after the birth, DH said he felt watching me give birth, he felt he now had no right to name our baby. I'd chosen Poppy and DH wanted Eve, I looked at her and changed my mind to Lydia - which DH was happy with.

Keep trying! Good luck x

Quattrocento · 28/09/2010 18:56

I think your DH is right

If you like a good hero, what about Hector?

iskra · 28/09/2010 19:03

I like Gawain but think is hard to pull off. We had a lodger with a friend called Gawain. He was from Warrington.

CupcakesHay · 28/09/2010 19:19

Sorry - agree with husband.... althoiugh I like Orlando - but DH hates it too...

Checkmate · 28/09/2010 19:22

I like Rafe, very dashing.

Also consider Alsander (a variant of Alastair/Alexander) which is similar to some of your more ott ideas.

Summatontoast · 28/09/2010 19:27

We have a Rafe in the family, I LOVE it

Totallyfloaty35 · 28/09/2010 19:27

Ott moi? Ok Dh says i sound like i have moved into Camelot, he is now amusing himself by suggesting Aragon,Galahad etc and rolling around laughing Hmm
Quattro my dog is called Hector....
Well its really early days , plenty of time to wear him down and i still reckon i will have another girl.

If you like Gawain and medieval type names, how about Tristan?

Hullygully · 28/09/2010 19:33

Gawain....

DinahRod · 28/09/2010 19:34

Am a big fan of Gawain and the Green Knight but Ga-wain ends up being lazily mis-pn as Gwain, rhyming with Wayne.

I know a Merlin and a GeoffreyGrin but what about other medieval/Arthurian names:
Arthur
Alistair
Alexander
Hector
Llyr
Lucas
Owain

Avoid Anguish, Mordred or Florence!

Noah is cool, what about Jonas?

Quattrocento · 28/09/2010 19:47

I think a compromise is called for:

You should drop the 'ga' and just go for Waine. Unique spelling too :)

Problem solved
