I'll go first-

Anne/Anna
Nancy

I don't know why I feel such a strong dislike for them! Perfectly nice normal names logically but for me.......no. To say the least.

Apologies to any parents of Annas or Nancys, I know I am the freakish one for feeling this way!

Figured everyone would have at least one name like this?

I must be another one with 'posh' tastes, because I also like Reuben, Theodore, Hugo as well as Quentin, Benedict and other names that are sometimes described as 'posh' Smile. I really do love them!

I think it's because I have an unusual name that I am overly conscious of the bullying potential. I think for a teenage lad Gabriel et al is pushing it...

sonniebonnie · 19/09/2010 22:10

But jajas, what if you truly love the name Hugo (or any other, for that matter)? You are not 'trying' to inch your way anywhere, you just love the name. Do you not think this is possible?

Our son has a name sometimes described as posh here (Quentin), but in France it is in the top 20, so it is also important to take into account someone's cultural heritage.

I hate the name Jack, for some reason i always picture a miner when someone mentions the name.
The only other name i have an irrational dislike of is Jacqui (when spelt this way), always think of a hairdresser that only sets elderly peoples hair.
My dd and my dh have been mentioned on here but not my ds. only my middle name has cropped up .

So what is wrong with Wendy?????

I am a Wendy and it NEVER usually gets mentioned in any capacity. I suppose it is rather dated.

There were 5 Wendy's in my year back in the seventies at school.

Kitty and Lola. They make me think of strippers or porn stars.

Barney and Barnaby.

My DS2's name is on here quite a lot which is ok as I am not overly keen on it myself, but DH asked for it specifically through man tears at the birth and I was too knackered overwhelmed to say no! My contributions are

Marley (M or F)
Stephanie
Jaiden
Vera
Reuben
Darren
