Names you KNOW are perfectly nice but which you have an irrational hatred for

I'll go first-

Anne/Anna
Nancy

I don't know why I feel such a strong dislike for them! Perfectly nice normal names logically but for me.......no. To say the least.

Apologies to any parents of Annas or Nancys, I know I am the freakish one for feeling this way!

Figured everyone would have at least one name like this?

Victoria - only ones I have met were total cows.

Also, Terence/Terry and Hope.

pinkthechaffinch · 07/09/2010 19:26

Alison

there is nothing attractive about this name IMO.

Ruth also.

SixtyFootDoll · 07/09/2010 19:29

Charlotte
Ben

Supercherry · 07/09/2010 19:29

I don't have any irrational hatred for any names, no.

MarineIguana · 07/09/2010 19:31

Yes Emma always seems prissy to me however many non-prissy Emmas I meet.

Adam - yaaaaaawn. I know loads of them and I always think "why?"

I used to Love Eve but now it's the unimaginative name of choice (a bit like Adam weirdly enough)

lucyintheskywithdinos · 07/09/2010 19:32

Susan

no idea why

SmellsLikeTeenSweat · 07/09/2010 19:32

Simon. I've known two horrible ones.
Paige, Brooke, Madison, Fletcher etc.

mathanxiety · 07/09/2010 19:34

Martha
Sally, as mentioned
Scarlett (I don't think this is an irrational hatred)
Bess
Violet
Verity
Anya
Joshua
Ethan
Seth
Jon

I'm sure I'll come up with more.

No not directed at you op, just cant stand it, reminds of the word 'silly'

i dont post under my real name either, who does? Wink

runningrach · 07/09/2010 20:56

Ruth

Don't know why, just don't like the sound of it. I was gutted 20 years ago when my aunt called my baby cousin Ruth, and even though she is perfectly lovely I still don't like the name now.

BuntyPenfold · 07/09/2010 21:16

Grace - I have never understood why a name so close to grease is popular

Alison

Sam and Samantha

Nathan

scottishmummy · 07/09/2010 21:20

so many,too many too type

StrictlyTory · 07/09/2010 21:26

Louis - I cannot stand it. Lewis is fine but Louis, pronounced Louie is just so hideous I don't understand why anyone would ever pick it.

Millie - The ultimate 'I never want my child to grow up' name. Sounds too babyish even for a baby! I can't imagine being an adult sadlled with such a silly name.

FakePlasticTrees · 07/09/2010 21:28

Jessica.

I don't know why, DH wanted it to be on the list of possible names if DS had been a DD, and it made me shudder at the thought I could name a child that. But I've met a couple of Jessica's, who were both rather nice people, and I'd not thought "lovely woman, shame about the shocking name" ever, so not sure why I had such a strong reaction to it...

oh, and anything ending in Anne - although names ending in Anna are fine for me.

BelligerentGhoul · 07/09/2010 21:30

Am doing well here, since my name and one of my dd's names are both featured!

I will throw:

Elliot
Guy
Wendy
Archie

into the mix.

Stinkyfeet · 07/09/2010 21:32

George

Eglu · 07/09/2010 21:32

Jack

Eglu · 07/09/2010 21:33

Oh and Sophie - always seems really soppy sounding to me.

myredcardigan · 07/09/2010 21:33

Lots but mostly, Lucy.

DinahRod · 07/09/2010 21:35

Emma & Sally, one was spiteful & bovine, the other my brownie nemesis, the spoilt, sly dd of brown owl...the scars still linger Grin

NoahAndTheWhale · 07/09/2010 21:38

DD is here and so is my mum Smile.

I don't like Jessica.
