I love the name Lion for a boy but would it cause endless embarassment for the child?

Also love Luan, but is Luan a girl's name?

Yes, I do like Leo actually. It's a cute name.

So, I suppose the opinion is that Lion is dreadful!

Leo is lovely.

Lion is a kind of animal, not a person's name.

Would you call yr child Dog? or Rhino? Thought not.

Lulumaam · 25/08/2010 17:15

it's a tiny bit silly Smile

sorrento56 · 25/08/2010 17:16

Leo is fabulous, Lion is cruel.

Wallace · 25/08/2010 17:19

But you might call them Wolf or Bear.... Grin

QUite like Rhino, btw

UnholyMoley · 25/08/2010 17:20

hehehe Grin

Sorry.

pippylongstockings · 25/08/2010 17:21

Ahhh - your in the throws of hormones.....

My DS1 was going to be called Spike (which I still think is a cool name) but clearly it is just the rush and excitement of trying to find a name that is a bit different/cool/funky/hasn't been used before and then we all go a bit off piste.

Lion will have hard time living up to that name unless you are very rich and famous.

ValiumSingleton · 25/08/2010 17:23

Leo is lovely. Lion is a bit silly imo. What if he's shy?!

Leo on the bc, with baby nn of Lion, in an ironic way. Let it evolve 'organically' cough cough. Could be cute. But don't announce tha thte baby's name is Lion. That's too silly.

SpringHeeledJack · 25/08/2010 17:24

I know a Tiger

apparently he rolled around laughing the first day at school at another child's name- Thomas. Which is of course a train's name

Grin

if you live in inner London you'll get away with it. I think it's kinda kewl

[ponders changing name]

TheOldestCat · 25/08/2010 17:26

I just hope your surname isn't Hunter Grin

Leo is lovely.

SpringHeeledJack · 25/08/2010 17:26

ooh soz- I just noticed that you're Oop North

I personally wouldn't risk it

I am also from Oop North and my middle name is Jonquil also deeply embarrassing

my life was hell from 4 to 16

sorrento56 · 25/08/2010 17:27

Grin SHJ.

Mahraih · 25/08/2010 17:40

Umm ... wouldn't call him Lion.

What if he's short, and meek, and doesn't have a tail?

sleepingsowell · 25/08/2010 18:15

Lion is just too silly, I agree - specially when you could choose Leo which has the same meaning, and is SOOO stylish and cool, I love this name at the moment.

Go for Leo!

sedgiebaby · 25/08/2010 18:22

how about Léonce or Leonardo they both mean Lion but a bit less obvious?

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 25/08/2010 18:28

Or Lionel?

MummyLovesSadie · 25/08/2010 18:35

No no no just NO! It's definitely your hormones! I've met a little Tiger which is just about passable (not for me though!) but NOT lion! Grin

Now how about Linus - one seriously cool name imho! Grin

belgo · 25/08/2010 18:37

Leon is lovely.

Bumperlicious · 25/08/2010 19:04

Please don't. Imagine if you were named Flamingo how your life might have been...

MrsMadWriggle · 25/08/2010 19:06

From the Day we arrive on the planet......

Woooh, it's the Circle of Liiiiiife....

PaigeTurner · 25/08/2010 19:20

Er... Lionheart?

I like Leon.

horatia · 25/08/2010 20:54

Leon or Leopold for a boy.

Louanne or Louisa for a girl.
