ooh I've been nosing about on Wikipedia Cortina, since you mentioned family tree, and I noticed her grandmother was called Nancie so indeed they might use family for inspiration. The name Corisande pops up in the family tree - interesting... also Algerine, never heard that one (maybe best not, though, eh?)! Anyway, Sam Cam's mother is called Annabel Lucy Veronica.

Nancy is Nancy Gwen (Sam Cam's middle name is Gwendoline) so I think she prefers unfussy short versions to longer formal names.
