Myself and husband are Struggling to agree on boys names and I am due in 2 weeks so starting to panic a little now!

I really like the name Ralph but my husband isn't sure and needs some convincing, what are people's general thoughts on this name?

I thought it was a little different and not too popular although not too out of the ordinary? ?

It depends - are you planning to pronounce it Ralph or Rafe

janeite · 11/07/2010 19:21

Terrible imho, sorry.

ivykaty44 · 11/07/2010 19:23

I knew a very cool chef named ralph

Wilts · 11/07/2010 19:25

Makes me think of 'forever' by Judy Blume

endlessnamesearch · 11/07/2010 19:25

Where I come from it means to be sick... 'God I ralphed so bad last night...'

endlessnamesearch · 11/07/2010 19:27

I think I'll refrain from telling my husband it means vomit!!! That would definately not fight my corner :-)

I know a very handsome, floppy haired fellow called Ralph. I like it

LetThereBeRock · 11/07/2010 20:16

Ralph is awful. It's lovely when pronounced as Rafe but otherwise no and it means vomit.

Rockbird · 11/07/2010 20:17

Cool whether it be Ralf or Rafe. Go for it.

janeite · 11/07/2010 20:18

I think I dislike Rafe even more than Ralph tbh. I also know a v handsome, floppy haired Ralph - but I still don't like the name, sorry.

Effjay · 11/07/2010 20:19

I love it. Seems its a bit of a marmite name though.

misdee · 11/07/2010 20:19

Shaz10 · 11/07/2010 20:19

Another Judy Blume thought here!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 11/07/2010 20:19

Forever by Judy Blume too, sorry...

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 11/07/2010 20:21

Very cute Misdee!

LetThereBeRock · 11/07/2010 20:21

He's adorable Misdee.

Shaz10 · 11/07/2010 20:26

How brill was Forever? It got passed around our class loads of times.

misdee · 11/07/2010 20:27

i did think of Forever when Peter called the puppy Ralph lol.

5DollarShake · 11/07/2010 20:31

I really like it pronounced Rafe, but not Ralph.

And yeah, vomit, unfortunately - talking to Ralph on the big white phone...

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/07/2010 20:34

We have a baby Ralph (Ralphie) in the family. He is very cute and the has grown on me but I still struggle a little bit with the vomit association.

LargeGlassofRed · 11/07/2010 20:35

I used to be a nanny for a Ralph (Ralf)
Gorgeous blond haired sweetee, I love it.

MyBoysHaveDogsNames · 11/07/2010 20:37

I like it. But Rufus is better.

KnitterInTheNW · 11/07/2010 20:44

I used to be a nanny for a Ralph too! Took me a week or two to get used to calling a 4 month old baby Ralph, but of course it's his name and grew to love it/him. He'll be 15 now.

bebejones · 11/07/2010 20:46

Makes me think of the piano playing dog from the muppets or the slightly dim kid in the Simpsons. Which is sad coz I think it's actually a nice name but that is what I think of when I hear it! Think the Rafe pronunciation is nice too & that doesn't make me think of the muppets!
