I guess the jury are still out.

FeralWoman · 05/07/2025 21:29

Yes. They’ve got today off from doing any deliberations but are still locked down and staying in a hotel away from their families.

GirlOverboard123 · 07/07/2025 04:53

VERDICT IS ON ITS WAY!

EleanorReally · 07/07/2025 05:20

guilty
wow

GirlOverboard123 · 07/07/2025 05:21

Guilty on all charges!

minerva7 · 07/07/2025 05:22

Guilty of 3 counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Aur0raAustralis · 07/07/2025 05:24

Came to post but I'm obviously not the only one following it live! I thought she was guilty too but it's a huge responsibility to be on a jury and you would want to be very sure so wasn't sure which way it would go. I hope the families of the victims find some closure now.

EleanorReally · 07/07/2025 05:28

her poor kids

guilty
wow

How is it ‘wow’? Not unexpected!

HoppingPavlova · 07/07/2025 05:32

Yes, this must have dragged on and on for them. Hopefully they can now take a breath and work forwards.

Aur0raAustralis · 07/07/2025 05:33

Here's some information from Australia's ABC News about the jurors and how they can't disclose anything (I know this is different in some other countries):

"Under the Juries Act, a juror cannot disclose any of the discussions, opinions or voting that happened in the jury room.
If they do, they risk being fined or even jailed for up to five years.
Being in court and hearing evidence can be distressing.
Jurors are offered a free, confidential counselling service called the Juror Support Program.
Jury members are generally exempt from being called for jury service again for three years, but on the final day of his instructions, Justice Beale offered all jurors a “dispensation” from jury duty for 15 years."

EleanorReally · 07/07/2025 05:34

i felt it was unexpected, beyond reasonable doubt being the phrase
she could appeal

GirlOverboard123 · 07/07/2025 05:37

I always had faith that the jury would find her guilty, but it was still very scary in that 20 minutes waiting for the verdict.

Thank God she didn’t get a chance to start the nursing and midwifery degree, or there could potentially have been more victims.

Aur0raAustralis · 07/07/2025 05:38

True, but she can't appeal until after sentencing, which won't occur yet. And she will need to weigh up whether the outcome would be any different, or whether she risks increasing her sentence if she appeals. (I think that's a potential outcome if she appeals but am not a legal expert!)

ETA: Was meant to have quoted @EleanorReally 's last post.

wandawaves · 07/07/2025 05:38

Great outcome.
She is obviously guilty.

her poor kids

And poor Simon (and his siblings). His parents and his aunt dead, murdered by his wife. And he’s lucky to be alive himself.

And poor Ian Wilkinson, of course.

Civilservant · 07/07/2025 07:12

Yes, right outcome. Such terrible crimes.

mokjkjjo · 07/07/2025 07:16

I’m glad that justice has been served. I was starting to think she might get away with it with the directions and the length of time deliberations were taking.

KidsDoBetter · 07/07/2025 07:21

It was the right verdict from the information I had read / listened to. I am glad the jury deliberated as long as they did given the dense amount of evidence in front of them and of course the seriousness of the charge.

Interested to know the other things that will come out now that have been unreportable due to the sub judice rules. Not least the previous possible poisoning of Simon some time previously.

So so sad for those 2 children and the Wilkinson and Patterson families. Glad they have had justice.

KidsDoBetter · 07/07/2025 07:23

I’m glad that justice has been served. I was starting to think she might get away with it with the directions and the length of time deliberations were taking.

Justice Beale knew what he was doing with those instructions alright. Making it less likely she might succeed on appeal if found guilty.

Choux · 07/07/2025 07:32

I was wondering if the fact they were deliberating for several days meant they couldn’t reach a verdict and how many of them were not yet persuaded of her guilt.

I know she hasn’t been sentenced yet but in terms of appeal…To do that wouldn’t she need a way of saying she hadn’t been given a fair trial? What did the judge say pre deliberations to reduce that chance?

zenae · 07/07/2025 07:45

They really do walk among us.

psychopath.

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 07/07/2025 08:46

I wonder if any other suspicious deaths / illnesses surrounding her will now be investigated? Someone on the other thread ousted an article about a pencil sharpener blade being found in a banana when she worked in air traffic control. Maybe there was no motive, in a regular sense of the word, but to her a slight was enough to cause harm / death.

I hope the children manage to escape the shadow following them, it will be very hard for them.
