This has been all over the news. I live one town over from Leongatha and believe me, it's the talk of the towns.

We have loads of mushrooms around our place but wouldn't dream of eating them. About 90% of foraged mushrooms in Australia are poisonous.

Then again, you do get groups of people who think they know what they're doing, and perhaps they do.

Meanwhile this is suss-as.

Three people died from suspected mushroom poisoning after sharing a meal. Here's what we know - ABC News

Three dead and another fighting for life: What we know so far about suspected mushroom poisonings in Victoria

Police continue to investigate three suspected mushroom poisoning deaths after a family lunch last month in Leongatha in Victoria's east. Detectives have not laid any charges, but say the woman who served the meal remains a suspect. Here's what we know...

With 25 messages to go and the case having slowed down, maybe the OP is waiting.

Please start one , Aussies / NZ members
It would be rude for us in U.K. to trample on your toes. ( Just my feelings)
It’s being followed in U.K. but not on our territory.

Hey there, I am an Aussie and started a new thread.

The mushroom poisoning in Vic.... I am gripped - Part 2 | Mumsnet

Hi everyone, Aussie Mumsnetter here. As some have requested a new thread be started by an Aussie I decided to do it. I am still gripped by this case...

It’s 9:41am in Australia and 12:41am in England. So, I’ll check back later this afternoon (in Australia).

There are three time zones in Australia.

True! However, there is enough information in my post to figure out which time zone in Australia I’m in. If you’re a smart cookie that is 😉

Local have been holding all day vigils to prayer for Ian Wilkinson... Not just the Baptists, but also Catholics. I really hope they can find a suitable liver for him.

DigbyTheDigger · 20/08/2023 09:45

Is he still unconscious? I was just thinking, when he wakes he will have to be told his wife is dead. Poor man.

Forensic psychologist Tim Watson-Munro, who built the base of his career in the grime of the old school Parramatta Gaol in Sydney’s west, sees “red flags’’ everywhere in the case of the death cap mushrooms. “I’m not a big believer in coincidences,’’ he says.

Mr Watson-Munro says police would be looking for points of weakness and the slow, steady approach would be tactical.

It is also clear the families of the dead have been told to keep their silence.

That’s behind a paywall unfortunately!

No doubt the mail will regurgitate and embellish.

Surely a slow and steady approach is the opposite of tactical and is strategic....?

velvetandsatin · 21/08/2023 15:12

Tactical - "showing adroit planning; aiming at an end beyond the immediate action". I think he has used the term correctly, and intentionally.
