So AQ....are you going to start this off?????

OP posts:
Jayzmummy · 02/04/2005 11:40

Punnet....we should get together....I live near to you!!!! BIBIC is a great place to go if you have a AS child....will give you so much help and advice. J was dx with Autism on Wednesday....I always thought he was Asperger!!!!
Not the place for this chat....come on over to SN....and we can talk ASD!!!

I make my cards because it gives me reward......I personally know that I dont get the hugs, love and cuddles from my little man... I dont get the thank yous or the pleases from him......so card making is my way of fulfilling those needs in myself.

Well done Dingle on your card order....nice when someone comes back for more.
I sold 30 cards yesterday to my sister.....she sells the cards in her dental practice.....puts them in the waiting room and whilst people are sitting waiting to be seen....they browse and buy!!!

Dingle · 02/04/2005 11:53

JM, I think you mean Dior! I am about to start our god-daughter communion invites!
We are not really religious at all so I am keeping well clear of any religious theme.
I have printed off her picture in sepia and I am trying a sort of vintage style, something I've not really done before! I have load of little pearly buttons to try out and have just fould some strips of natural cotton which blend in nicely!

Jayzmummy · 02/04/2005 14:27

OOOOPPPPSSSSS......thats my dyslexia....you both start with a D!!!!!!!

Your invites sound interesting Dingle....I love sepia photographs....would be lovely to see the finished product.

Punnet · 02/04/2005 15:07

Jayzmummy- we should meet up, Yes! Maybe you should come to our card club too? CAT me if you want the info.

Made a lovely kids card today but struggling with the glue- any idea what will stick plastic to holo card?

Jayzmummy · 02/04/2005 15:28

epoxy resin....thats if your glue gun wont stick it!!!
I use epoxy for all my difficult bits.

Still havent started my mans theme yet......must get going....TODAY!!!

Punnet · 03/04/2005 11:16

Gave up on the bug gluing but stamped ladybirds worked out.

Checkede-bay and my mens's stuff is on its way. Hurrah! Need the male practice, although I'm gonna have a 'mens card' day today- got two others planned.

Question: do you think quilled orange and yellow flowers are OK for a golden wedding card, or do I need to be more specific? I have space to add to it on the card (square card again- why am I addicted to them?) but I haven't got 5oth peel offs (have got happy anniversary in gold, but everything else I have is silver). Ideas?

What do I do with photos of cards etc when they are taken?

Dingle · 03/04/2005 12:06

I have been making little gold wire hearts. A VERY simple design, I could pop a few in the post for you if you want.
I also have some gold numbers and a "th" from the alphabet peel-offs in gold if they would be any good.

If not try printing your wording off on the computer in gold.

Punnet · 03/04/2005 12:07

Dingle, can I swap you a wire heart for a quilled flower or butterfly topper?

AuntyQuated · 03/04/2005 13:22

if you print of in gold or a pale colour and stand at the ready with embossing podwer it works perfectly. think it was you, dingle, that told me that??
i have the settings for printing in gold silver and bronze using ordinary ink jet printer

Punnet · 03/04/2005 14:13

Sorry not Dingle for the last on- Aunty Quated- apologies, eyes going funny staring at student loan form

If I could emboss the answers I'd be away!!

Dingle · 03/04/2005 14:16

Punnet, you don't need to swap anything. I am more than happy to pop a couple in the post. I am putting them on these communion invites I am making up, so I really simplified them. I have 40+ invites and I think I will be using 3 hearts on each card.
I do make wire hearts that are twisted and beaded, but these take me a while to make. The ones I am doing now-ANYONE could make. If you have wire and a ribbler you could try it, if not let me know and I'll post a couple to you. Just CAT me.
I'd love to see your quilled flowers or butterfly topper for inspiration though!

Dingle · 03/04/2005 14:20

AQ, I used the gold/silver settings you posted a while ago, only yesterday and bumped the thread earlier in case this was any use to anyone.
...but...can you set and store the settings, or do you have to re-set for every new document you use them on?

Yes, it was me that said about the embossing,,,but I still haven't even tried it myself!!

AuntyQuated · 03/04/2005 17:40

card with a male theme? card with a male theme?

whose idea was this???lol

i am finding it hard as what will do for my brother (nightclubber, drinker) will not do for my arty-farty friend, who enjoys the outdoors.

are stars Ok for men? what about RIBBON? all these questions are going on in my head!

how are you all getting on?

no goodies yet, dior..maybe tomorrow.

Punnet · 03/04/2005 18:27

Stars yes, ribbon hmm- they do leather sticky ribbon that would be good.

Know what I'm doing though, something 99% of men like.

And I don't mean a Jordan card.

kkgirl · 03/04/2005 19:21

I've made my card but can't find my sticky dots to finish it. I have so much stuff now in my craft card, everything is getting bent and I can't find anything anymore.
I was a bit daunted about the male theme, but think my card isn't as naff as I thought it would be!!

pootlepod · 03/04/2005 21:25

Note to self:

Avoid teeny tiny beads for future card swops. packing and posting the b***s was a nightmare!

Punnet · 03/04/2005 21:50

I can see the problem, pootlepod!

Sound nice though. Don't use beads much, should do more often I think.
Must remember those nest time i'm in a store.

Oh, just heard of a new store too- LOVE their prices- www.poppyfieldsforever.co.uk.

Gotta go call MIL now. Only person who buys myc ards usually- 80 at a time as she is the most FANTASTIC baker of weddingc akes, all that sugarcraft stuff (her tip: skip sherry, use gin- it works). She sends them to her clients.

Punnet · 04/04/2005 14:11

Still not arrived!!! Chased it hough, should be here for tomorrow.

Will despatch immediately I have.

Jayzmummy · 05/04/2005 10:26

whay heyyyyy!!!!! Finished my card....please forgive me my challenge chums!!!!!!!!!

hunkermunker · 05/04/2005 10:36

When am I meant to have posted my bits and pieces out to my laydees?

Punnet · 05/04/2005 11:38

What am I supposed to do with my photographs?

Jayzmummy · 05/04/2005 12:30

Hold on to them and AQ will give details later......they get posted onto a site....she will do a link!!!!!

AuntyQuated · 05/04/2005 13:49

HM - you B&P should be with your CCs by next friday - 15th.

hold on to your pics until your CC has her B&P as it may spoil the surprise (or as in JM's case, the shock!!)

pootlepod · 05/04/2005 19:36

oops, didn't realise we were supposed to hold on to the pics and DH was eager to help me with the technical bit!

hunkermunker · 05/04/2005 19:38

AQ, thank you! I thought it wasn't too soon (though will get cracking!) - but just wanted to check. Don't want to be the hunker who let the side down
