So AQ....are you going to start this off?????

AuntyQuated · 25/03/2005 21:39

sorry, punnet..here you go

you make one card, then you send everyhting that you used to make it to A N Other (or 2 other people as this may be). you send the card blank and envelope then all the other bits and pieces.

you put a photo of what you sent on Yahoo (can send seperate instructions)

when you receieve your goodies from your 'crafty pal' you make a card. if you receive less than 5 little bits you can add one other, if you receieve more than 5 elemnts you can leave one out. then you put pic of your card on yahoo and we can see the different things that people came up with using the same things.

hth

Well (and I am NOT an expert OK? I'm more your triple embosser at heart), it is just layering stuff to get an effect- I might use three or four pretty papers, some dried flowers, you can use photographs, ribbons and charms too- very like scrapbooking really. I like to collage a tag and then mount on to a card made from handmade paper or similar, but sometimes it's nice to do the whole card- it depends.

It's nice for things like retirement cards where you don't want to be too set in your theme, and you can use it as a backdrop- I did one on a small square card, terracottas, golds and yello flowers, then made a mini envelope from gorgeous gold and terracotta vellum with some sunflower seeds inside and then to finish I printed 'A friendship is like a garden... when tended, it will grow', tore it out and glued it on. taring is good in collage- it takes away any hardness.

Simple really huh?

Punnet · 25/03/2005 21:42

AuntyQuated- that sounds like amazing fun! Thank you for that! Definitely would like a go. Excuse to go shopping.

AuntyQuated · 25/03/2005 21:42

sent it to both now YG

AuntyQuated · 25/03/2005 21:44

have you looked at last challenge's pics

i put a link to them somehwere on hereeh

AuntyQuated · 25/03/2005 21:45

found it - yesterday 9.19pm

Dingle · 25/03/2005 21:46

I know what you mean Punnet, I have seen some great pieces in card mags. It seems quite daunting to me though, I suppose its just a case of finding the right combinations of colours and papers and having a go.

Punnet · 25/03/2005 22:01

I just tear up bits of paper and throw them together for ideas and sometimes Im quite surprised, and sometimes I just stick to a tight scheme.

And sometimes I just shove on a peel off and colour it in!.

Tried to get on website but link wouldn't work?

Punnet · 27/03/2005 14:34

either I killed this dead or everybody is busy for Easter! has anybody decided on a theme yet? Hubby buying me cardy stuff instead of an egg for Easter, so I can make a start.

Jaysmum · 27/03/2005 15:14

We need to get AQ here so she can set this up and running.....come on lovey....set us the challenge.....Im gagging to get going!!!!!

OP posts:
Dingle · 27/03/2005 17:13

....eager too

Should be busy making daisies!! kkgirl might be interested and I have 2 other crafters on another site that I am swapping embellishment with!!

I ordered another £30 of goodies on Friday,,,,,I can't wait for them to come...

Just completed 2 naming day cards for a boy of 2, who loves trains and a card for a girl who is being bullied - to help her cheer up!
All new designs so I an a little unsure of them.

Punnet · 27/03/2005 18:27

I'm sure they're great, but I know what you mean- I'm always really nervous how my cards will be received. Trouble is, they become personal don't they by the time you finish them?

Just went on www.jillcraft.co.uk to spend my Easter present money from DH, they don't have P&P if you spend over a fiver- they turned out to be really cheap, pretty lilac card blanks from £1.25 and peel offs 50p. I am a VERY happy Peachy now!!!

Jaysmum · 27/03/2005 19:26

Stop it!!! Stop it!!!! Stop it!!!!!
Every time you lot highlight a new site my bank balance dwindles!!!!!!

I cant spend anymore!!!!!!!!!

Dingle · 27/03/2005 19:51

Just to make it easier for your credit cards..........here's a link

hub2dee · 27/03/2005 20:08

Reference possible 'male' theme - how about an invitation to mark a circumcision ?

PS - Jaysmum - loved skipper / skater. Had a lot of fun looking through everyone's cards. Well done all.

Punnet · 27/03/2005 20:22

Yeah but...

Peel offs 50p...

Unusual ones too, like unicorns..

Thats fifty -FIFTY!!- fot a fiver.

I got fairies, and anniversaries, and card blanks, and pearlescent paper...

AuntyQuated · 28/03/2005 10:54

right, shall we get going?

is anyone against a male theme?

AuntyQuated · 28/03/2005 11:05

no?? good..male theme it will be!

  • make one male theme card
  • take a picture of all the bits you used
  • send the bits (and the card blank)to your two Challenge Chums (CC) to arrive before Friday 15th April.

*when you receive your bits and pieces, make a card with them.
*if you receiev more than 5 B&P then you can add one other
*if you receieve more than 5 B&P then you can miss ONE out
*take a photo of your finished card

you will receive 2 lots of bits and pieces, do one card with each lot. so you will have 2 final cards to show.

Dingle · 28/03/2005 12:10

Great AQ, I'm up for this.

pootlepod · 28/03/2005 12:22

Have only just seen this again,

I don't think I would be able to do it if it's a male theme, I have only just started making cards and the whole male thing scares me into buying them from a shop!!

But think it would be good for the others so please go ahead without me, and I'll steal some ideas if that's ok. Would definately like to join in for the next one though.

Dingle · 28/03/2005 12:36

Oh Pootlepod, please don't feel put off by the mens theme. It would be good experience and give you the opportunity to try a few different ideas.

How about having a look at some peel-off, you can get quite a few mens themed ones and then just by using a darker colour background, voila! You have a card. Just think of all the money you would save by not having to buy mens cards ever again!
CAT me, if you want any ideas-it seems a shame to miss out on the fun.

pootlepod · 28/03/2005 12:39

I'm still very scared!!! TBH I have a problem finding bought cards for men, as the men in my life don't do fishing/golf/cars/football etc etc. [scared emoticon]

Dingle · 28/03/2005 12:42

Have a look at the Jill craft site, the link is a bit further down. Look for either father's day, or further down the index for peeloffs. I will look for further inspiration/encouragement.

Dingle · 28/03/2005 12:48

Haven't looked at the projects but try having a look at Do Crafts

or CM & P

Punnet · 28/03/2005 16:47

Definitely up for that, AuntyQuated. So what happens- do you CAt us our chums later on (it'll take me a few days to make this one!).
