.... a question

Can you felt other 100% wool thinks besides knitted jumpers?

I only ask as I'm sure I have a shawl somewhere in a suitcase that is wool but as it's not used for its purpose could maybe made into something else

It's woven

Oooh fab - did you do before and after photos? I put some on my blog (scroll down) and they make me chuckle!

I took a damp cloth to the inside of my machine and got loads of fibres out that were just sitting in the drum - might help!

By an amazing coincidence I have just felted (accidentally) a Primark 80% wool 20% nylon tank top, and it looks great! When it dris if it still fits width ways Ill wear it, if not Ill do something else with it.

Its striped, and the colours actually look better felted than they did before!

oooh I had a go with my felting needles last night - great fun! I've done a moorland with a tree on one side and started a lake and mountains on the other. I was amazed at how quickly the pic came together. No pics yet because it is a birthday present for my mum and she reads my blog!

ingles2 · 19/03/2008 13:19

I worked on this book
It's got some slightly odd projects in it, but loads of info on felting.

lucykate · 19/03/2008 16:38

miaou, i got myself a felting needle a few weeks ago, not used it yet, they look so scary don't they.

did you get individual needles or one of those 'clover' felting tool, it's got about 4 needles within a little plastic holder

Miaou · 19/03/2008 22:16

I got both lucykate

The single needle is great for detailed work (shading etc), the four needle tool is good for creating "softer" areas of colour. I find if I use the single needle in a larger area then I end up with a bit of a stippled effect (that could be just my inexperience though!)

Ingles, do you mean you were involved in the production of that book? It looks great, I must say (will add to my wanted list!)

ingles2 · 20/03/2008 11:04

yes...
the author was lovely and took her felting VERY seriously
