Yay! Congratulations to your DH @Fairislefandango, that’s brilliant!

We’re going away for the bank holiday too @StillNiceCardigan and I suspect I can see your car and raise you ours 😂 I haven’t actually packed it yet though, just sort of arranged things in the hall in the hope they’ll shrink overnight…

I finished my supposed shoe laces and they’re not long enough for DM’s but I could make them into a nice lanyard and maybe a ribbon for covering a steek…

They look great @InTheNightWeWillWish!

lucysmam · 29/04/2022 20:59

@Fairislefandango that's brilliant! Congratulations to your DH 🥂

MerylSqueak · 29/04/2022 23:27

Congratulations to your DH @Fairislefandango . He must be very relieved.

Well it might not fit your DMs but that's a very fine shoelace @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound !

Fairislefandango · 30/04/2022 10:49

Thanks everyone! We'll have to tighten our belts a bit - it's quite a drop in salary, but with future promotion opportunities. He's so delighted and relieved though - he can't quite believe it!

I've just done Parkrun in the glorious sunshine. Bit of yoga now, a bath and maybe some knitting!

I love your shoelace @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound !

lucysmam · 01/05/2022 16:12

Uff, my wing pieces are entirely different sizes 🙄🙄 I can't decide whether to live with it (they'll be sewn one on top of the other), or make a third of the left one & see which match better 🤔 that's what happens when there are constant interrputions

My mum was looking at the Sirdar website and found the Day Tripper CAL. She fell in love with it but as she can’t crochet, it looks like I’m doing about her CAL… Along with the temperature blanket, knit sampler, Dino, Tunisian crochet sampler and numerous other WIPs I’ve probably forgotten about!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 01/05/2022 20:07

Excellent link there 🙄

lucysmam · 02/05/2022 14:18

Ooooh...this has just popped up on my fb & I'm considering a day out. Have any of you been before The wool monty

Fairislefandango · 02/05/2022 17:17

Wow - that is super colourful, @InTheNightWeWillWish !!!

I've never heardof the Wool Monty, @lucysmam. Looks fun!

I've finally finished ds' socks - he is happily wearing them right now. I've just been weaving bread dough instead of yarn Grin. I've made my favourite bread, which is a plaited loaf from one of the GBBO books. It's quite a complicated plaiting pattern- it feels more like crafting than cooking!

sophs29 · 03/05/2022 13:55

Wow @InTheNightWeWillWish I love that blanket! I've just signed up for it! Hopefully one day I'll get a chance to make it ☺️

@lucysmam that looks amazing! Do you think you'll go?

InTheNightWeWillWish · 03/05/2022 14:39

FairIsle I love the colours but they’re right up my mum’s street. That’s my mum in a blanket right there so no wonder she spotted it!

Sophs glad to see I’ve done a bit enabling now Grin Hopefully because it’s granny squares you might be able to do a square here and there. If I remember correctly you enjoy sewing so that won’t be something to put you off and the granny squares sit in a box for 8 years.

WarmFunKindStrong · 03/05/2022 15:01

Is there a website that has cheap (cheaper) 4 ply/sock wool? I am now at the stage in my sock knitting that I would like some soft fine sock wool. I am a fan DPNs the more the better!

CrochetBug · 03/05/2022 15:28

@WarmFunKindStrong I've used Drops Fabel which I buy from wool warehouse. It's the cheapest sock yarn I've found.

sophs29 · 03/05/2022 15:39

@InTheNightWeWillWish you do remember correctly Grin so now you're persuading me even more!

Fairislefandango · 03/05/2022 15:52

FairIsle I love the colours but they’re right up my mum’s street. That’s my mum in a blanket right there so no wonder she spotted it!

As usual I look at really bright, multicoloured stuff and think wow and admire people's bright projects, but they are not for me Grin. Dd mocks me for my boring Instagram feed - it's full of white and beige minimalist decor and natural undyed yarn. I find it very restful Grin

Fairislefandango · 03/05/2022 15:59

I love Drops yarn, @CrochetBug but somehow I've never clocked Fabel.i just had a look and it looks lovely, especially the not too bright multicoloured ones!

Now that I've finished ds' socks and I don't have that much of the hat left to do, I'm on the lookout for another project or two. I think I fancy one thing to wear (maybe a lightweight, longline cardigan) and something a bit new and fun - I'm wondering about having my first go at making a toy/amigurumi type thing, maybe the Cornish pixie from my Harry Potter book. I like Fluffy the 3-headed dog too, but he looks really difficult!

Fairislefandango · 03/05/2022 16:00

Of course I'll be getting my spinning wheel soon too, and that will be a project in itself!

Fairislefandango · 03/05/2022 16:59

Plus I seem to have decided to learn some Ukrainian Shock. I've applied for a job as a 'family/adult education' English tutor for the county council. I --am a sucker for learning new languages- though it could possibly come in handy.

WarmFunKindStrong · 03/05/2022 18:09

@CrochetBug 👍🏾 thanks I will have a look at Wool Warehouse.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 03/05/2022 19:05

I really love Drops wool, I’ve used Drops Delight for socks and it’s so soft but sightly on the fuzzy side that makes ripping out a bit stickier @WarmFunKindStrong

That sounds interesting @Fairislefandango, good luck!

My instagram feed is a truly bizarre mix of all sorts of crafts and hobbies 😂

buckingmad · 04/05/2022 12:41

@WarmFunKindStrong another recent drops convert here! I get it from wool warehouse too. Really great value yarn. I’m knitting a baby cardigan with one of their merino yarns at the moment.

almost finished my baby cardigan with a design I’ve made up. Had to frog the bottom because I naively thought an icord edge would stop the stockinette from curling. So I’ve added 3 rows of seed stitch before the i cord and it actually looks quite cute.

StillNiceCardigan · 04/05/2022 14:05

I haven't touched my knitting yet but here's the view from the hot tub!

Fairislefandango · 04/05/2022 14:22

Envy That looks amazing, @StillNiceCardigan . I'm extra jealous because I missed out on my week with a view from a hot tub over Easter when dd got Covid!

lucysmam · 04/05/2022 20:52

@sophs29 possibly on the Sunday; I realised after posting that the Saturday clashes with an already organised Guiding activity day 🙄

@StillNiceCardigan that looks like a lovely place to be!

I'm no further with my butterfly -the wings are frustrating me so I've put it down for now. My attention's been caught by this pattern though.
