I know this one isn't fitted but it's pretty

Those probably give a good impression of what appeals to me. Just not the 4 ply!

Fairislefandango · 26/04/2022 22:33

Your job opportunities sound exciting, @InTheNightWeWillWish - good luck with those!

@MerylSqueak - I love the first of those two jumpers you posted, so pretty!

My hat is hatting along too. I think I'll definitely do some fingerless gloves to go with it - same pattern book (Kate Davies Buachaille) and same yarns, but maybe reverse the mc and cc.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 26/04/2022 23:16

Those are pretty and feminine patterns you linked to @MerylSqueak and this designers aesthetic is similar but this is in a heavier weight of yarn if that’s any interest to you

Hey! Nice to ‘see’ you @sophs29! 😀

Those sound great @InTheNightWeWillWish, best of luck! And best of luck to your DH @Fairislefandango

This site is doing my head in. It’s reminding me a bit of a job where our company was bought over, the new boss came in and was all ‘We’ll give them a new look website and they’ll be dazzled”. It may have worked if the important functionality wasn’t very very very backend stuff…

MerylSqueak · 27/04/2022 06:49

Thank you for the link to that designer @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound. I've had a quick look and there are some possibilities.

I've only ever made two simple jumpers so I'm not confident. I have found one that uses two strands of 4ply ( to do a colour fade). Would I be ok with dk? I wouldn't think twice about doing it with a scarf but it actually has to fit so I'm worried!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 27/04/2022 11:49

I know I bang on about gauge (a lot) but you’d have to do a gauge swatch to see if it would work… It spends on the wool you’re using really, some DK’s are heavier than others and might work…

Fairislefandango · 27/04/2022 12:49

Yep, no way on earth would I make a jumper without swatching, even if I were using the exact same yarn as the pattern suggested! Is it a dk you've already bought, @MerylSqueak , or one you fancy getting?

MerylSqueak · 27/04/2022 13:28

Well, it all depends. I've got a few different options. I haven't decided yet. One is Drops brushed alpaca silk which is Aran if I recall rightly but I don't think it knits as Aran really so I'm wondering what I can get away with

CrochetBug · 27/04/2022 13:43

You guys fell off my TIO Shock I had to come and find you!

Who is that was making gonks? I found a gonk granny square pattern which is cool.

StillNiceCardigan · 27/04/2022 15:16

I really like the gnome granny squares @CrochetBug!

I'm getting ready to go on holiday on Saturday and am not sure how much knitting/crochet to take. We are off to Scotland for two weeks with the DCs and their partners and as we are staying in houses I think there will be some crafting time. I have quite a bit of work to get through first and will be glad of the break (whatever the weather does!)

Fairislefandango · 27/04/2022 18:02

Phew - glad you found us, @CrochetBug !
Ooh take lots, @StillNiceCardigan Grin. I absolutely love knitting/crocheting on holiday- it's my favourite! I often get up early and sit peacefully crafting while everyone else is still in bed. I do that at home at the weekend too. Unfortunately I am incapable of lie-ins. Once I'm awake (often 6:30 Hmm) I can't ever get back to sleep. Hope you have a lovely time in Scotland!

Just over 3 weeks until I get to pick up my spinning wheel! We were heading down south anyway because dh managed to get tickets to the gig of a band dd loves (and we all quite like). Tickets go in minutes, so we were lucky to get them.

I'm knackered today after a few relentless days of supply teaching. The behaviour in school is just atrocious at the moment. It's so wearing Sad. And so many staff are off that teachers are being taken out of their 6th form classes to cover absent colleagues' younger classes. Dd (yr12) has had only 2 taught lessons in 3 days Shock. I definitely need an evening of knitting.

MerylSqueak · 27/04/2022 20:30

I agree @Fairislefandango it's very difficult in school at the moment. Tbh I can't see it getting better soon. The disruption caused by COVID is going to be with us for a while.

It was me with the gnomes @CrochetBug . I love that square 😍

lucysmam · 27/04/2022 20:44

I'm just checking in; my butterfly life cycle is 'over there' but just a little way out of reach to show her to you 🤣 I'm 1/4 way through her wings so hopefully will finish her by the weekend (ish).

I have painted props for The Very Hungry Caterpillar though over the last couple of afternoons so will show those off instead.

We're due OFSTEAD any day now in school & I've never been in class before so a bit nervous. Doesn't help that our DSL is wandering the halls firing questions at us too. My answer was soooo poor today...I was rushing to drop something in class & leave 🙈

I very much like the pattern you've linked @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound! Shame I can't get the hang of knitting but I'll store the image to look for similar in crochet.

StillNiceCardigan · 28/04/2022 09:41

I’m looking forward to seeing the butterfly life cycle @lucysmam you are being very creative!

StillNiceCardigan · 29/04/2022 11:41

We are starting to get organised for tomorrow’s holiday and oh my goodness the car is so full of food (we are miles from a supermarket and there are going to be 7 of us). Where will my knitting fit?!

Fairislefandango · 29/04/2022 11:54

Hmmm - knitting might take precedence over most things, but maybe not food Grin

I'm a bit jittery waiting for dh to get back from his meeting...

StillNiceCardigan · 29/04/2022 12:30

I hope it goes ok @Fairislefandango its been a long wait.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 29/04/2022 13:47

Oh hope it all went well FairIsle!

Fairislefandango · 29/04/2022 17:33

Well the meeting was long and stressful, and it's still not clear what the outcome will be.

But..... it doesn't really matter, because a couple of hours later the university called and offered him the job and he's accepted it!!!

StillNiceCardigan · 29/04/2022 17:44

Wow @Fairislefandango thats great news. Congratulations to your DH!!!

StillNiceCardigan · 29/04/2022 17:51

The cars looking a bit full!

StillNiceCardigan · 29/04/2022 17:52

Not sure why the photo is sideways. There’s more to go on the back seat.

Fairislefandango · 29/04/2022 18:13

Blimey - how much of that is yarn, @StillNiceCardigan ? Grin

StillNiceCardigan · 29/04/2022 18:19

My temperature blanket is in there somewhere! We are leaving at 7am so are being organised.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 29/04/2022 20:34

StillNiceCardigan with two dogs and a baby, my car looks like that when we pop to town! Grin Enjoy your holiday.

FairIsle congratulations to your DH. Is he still hoping for the special school one?

I desperately need to get on with some crochet! I’ve got a Dino due for the end of May and I’ve only done half his head. I’ve then got a unicorn blanket due for the end of July but I’ve not even started that! I have been practicing my knitting a little bit over the last few days. My tension can be a bit all over the place, which is annoying. However, my stitches are falling off my needles less. Here are squares two and three from my knit sampler.
