@YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp, that’s another lovely blanket! How are you finding it? I’ve skimmed the pattern and am confused just doing so but imagine it’s one of those things that will just make sense and fall into place as you work along. What size are you doing and is it cumbersome to work with such a big piece of knitting?!
It’s going well! Once you get going it’s really easy. I’m using up odd balls of leftover wool but I have also started one in variegated yarn, just for something different.
A huge bonus is no flipping putting together!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 13/04/2022 11:02

I saw this this morning 😂

Looking at you @lucysmam Grin

lucysmam · 13/04/2022 11:36

🤣🤣 yup, that's pretty accurate!

Fairislefandango · 13/04/2022 11:41

Grin Ummm...yes, @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound - me too. Spent half the morning watching spinning wheel refurbishing videos instead of knitting ds' socks. Blush

Fairislefandango · 13/04/2022 11:44

I'm really hoping my wheel won't need taking fully apart and putting back together like in the video I watched. If it does, I am definitely going to need FIL!

I'm a bit worried about a bit on the hub of the drive wheel. Can't work out from the photo if it's a crack or a repair or what...

Fairislefandango · 13/04/2022 11:47

I'm thinking about next knitting/crochet projects atm. There are so many new things I want to try that I don't know where to start! I'm always tempted by bigger projects. I fancy making a cardigan (longline) which I've never done before. But then I think of all the other smaller projects I could do which would end up being put off for even longer!

Fairislefandango · 13/04/2022 11:49

I quite fancy this . It's knitted with lace weight held double.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 13/04/2022 11:52

I can’t see a crack, there’s something that looks like a knot in the wood? Two darker parallel lines running from the top to the middle axis?

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 13/04/2022 11:54

I think i mean axel maybe, not axis…

Oh, that’s lovely. I have to go to a church service next month and I have trousers and a top but I was wondering what kind of cardigan or wrap I could make in a month!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 13/04/2022 12:15

I have this in my queue, it’s one of the ones I keep there no matter how much of a clear out I have www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hitofude-cardigan

Maybe I should just get on and make it…

Fairislefandango · 13/04/2022 12:36

That's very pretty! I spotted it when I was browsing earlier.

NiceCardigan · 13/04/2022 20:39

I like both the cardigan patterns (you can never have too many cardigans). I’m completely frazzled by work at the moment so am destressing by catching up on my temperature blanket which is growing nicely.

Fairislefandango · 13/04/2022 22:42

I got loads of ds' second sock done this evening Smile. More knitting than I've managed to do in one go for ages!

We're all a bit bored - no holiday or outings since dd got covid, but she finally tested negative today - woo hoo! And none of the rest of us seem to have caught it. I applied to one of the exam boards to be an examiner today. And dh has a job interview (an admin/management role at a university) plus another application in the pipeline!

MerylSqueak · 13/04/2022 23:41

Congratulations to your DH on the interview @Fairislefandango

I've got that cardigan in my favourites @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound it's lovely.

I haven't knitted a stitch all week. I'm not quite myself! Extremely tired. Don't even particularly feel like it and usually I'm itching to go. Weird.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 14/04/2022 08:05

You sounded pretty burnt out before the term finished @MerylSqueak, maybe your brain just needs a rest from everything. I hope you feel back to normal soon!

Ooh, any pics @NiceCardigan? Sorry to hear work is frazzling you!

Oh that’s brilliant @Fairislefandango! Smile

Both my DS’s have now got the cold from hell. I thought DS2 was better yesterday but he slumped again. Really tired, sore heads, sore throats and sore legs. At least they’re supposed to be off anyway!

Fairislefandango · 14/04/2022 08:53

Sorry you're not feeling quite yourself, @MerylSqueak. Let's hope we all get some nice, sunny weather - it always helps!

I downloaded a spinning book on my Kindle last night and have almost finished it already. I feel as though I've got my head around how the wheel works a bit better. I haven't got a very good brain for that sort of thing, so it takes me a while to really get it! The book has really helped! I just can't wait to get my hands on it now! I'm following lots of spinning stuff on YouTube and Instagram, including a hashtag for the Ashford Traditional wheel.

lucysmam · 14/04/2022 08:57

Brilliant news about DH's interview @Fairislefandango!

Sorry to see you're feeling "meh" @MerylSqueak :( Are you off for Easter hols?

You'll all be thrilled to know that the stegosaurus is going well, now I've realised that my first stitch is always the same - no matter where in the round I'm placing stitches 🙄

Awful lot of cutting and re-joining yarn going on though; I have a million ends to sew in already so plan to get them done today.

My friend's lent me the butterfly book you mentioned upthread Meryl, so I've made the butterfly egg, antennae and 2 rounds of a caterpillar body so far. Need to sew in a few ends there too.

First job of the day is to tidy my space up though...the girls and their dad have all commented this week that I have an awful lot stashed down the side of my chair 🤷‍♀️ I can't help organising my next projects before I've even half finished these 🤣 I even have two giant boxes for my hat down there!

Fairislefandango · 14/04/2022 10:06

Guilty too Blush. In the living room I have my granny's sewing box but also my big crocheted basket full of yarn and now dsis' big basket, which is only there until I send it to her, but has somehow also filled up with stuff!

lucysmam · 14/04/2022 10:32

I think I need to seriously consider a basket...there are 3 bags, a pencil case, 2 pillow cases of stuffing/scraps... I've shifted it all to the kitchen & am going to, sensibly, shift everything I don't need upstairs to further clutter the corner of doom 🤣🙄

Fairislefandango · 14/04/2022 13:10

I find I need to tidy and organise my craft stuff inexplicably frequently Grin. Mind you, dh is the same about the garage!

CrochetBug · 14/04/2022 14:42

Tidying? Organising? Wash your mouths out with soap. Honestly. Grin

I haven't done a lot this week. Went to visit the niblings at their camping holiday on Tuesday. 8 year old asked me why I'm growing a beard if I'm not a man! Which led to a very simplified conversation about girl hormones and boy hormones. He concluded that I should grow a huge beard and moustache Hmm
4 year old asked why I had a bite on my hand, managed to work out that the "teeth marks" were actually my veins so had a chat about veins and what they are for.

6 year old told me she hates the unicorn I made her a few years ago and asked for a JoJo Siwa doll instead. So that's another thing added to my list. I've got a couple of gorgeous doll patterns so should be able to make one of them look like JoJo.

Incidentaly the 4 year old loves her bunny i made but also wants a unicorn. 6 year old won't let her have hers, even though she 'hates' it. I actually have one that's half made. Just needs sewing up and hair.

All that wore me out so much I slept all day yesterday Blush

Fairislefandango · 14/04/2022 15:09

Goodness me @CrochetBug - I'm not surprised you slept all day! Children's entertainer, toymaker and biology teacher all rolled into one sounds like a tough role!

NiceCardigan · 14/04/2022 17:36

No more work for a few days now at last I had to start at 6am to get through everything.

My temperature blanket is almost up to date.

Fairislefandango · 14/04/2022 17:40

That blanket is looking fab, @NiceCardigan. A temperature blanket is yet another thing I fancy making!

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 14/04/2022 18:47

Ooh that’s lovely @NiceCardigan!
