Awww thanks everyone! I slept dreadfully, but the interview day seemed to go really well! It will still depend a lot on whether they feel like shelling out more money for an experienced oldie though. 3 of the other 4 candidates were in their 20s...

I'm glad it went well. I wish I could call them and tell them to value language AND teaching experience!! It makes SUCH a big difference!!

Fingers crossed they already value that!!

I'd definitely rather have a more experienced teacher teaching my girls! I really do hope this is the job for you @crazyjinglist.

I'm peed off with work. Someone's complained that I wasn't dealing with a dinner time incident/the children, or on the playground...when I was out there doing exactly that & the person I asked for support walked away because they'd dealt with incidents this morning! I talked it through with our DSL who agrees I handled it the best I could & the person I asked for support is very in the wrong since they've had more training than I have to deal with these things.

I. Am. Fuming. And. Stewing. And drinking wine.

And not having massive bloody tree branches brandished at me ffs!!

Fuming makes me very productive though - 3/4 of my Rainbows and Guides to do list got done in just over an hour after work, before the girls got home 🤣🤣

Ooof, it has been a torrid couple of weeks pulls up a chair
Not much further on with the bird skull jumper, mum has been acting up (she's 81, she's an alcoholic, she's chaotic, it's all very messy) and it looks like there may be a re-enactment season after all this year.

We went to the wool fair and there was NO WOOL. Not one single ball to buy. I was most grieved, I've never been to a wool fair and actually come back with money before. (Lots of textile-related things, I bought some lovely vintage buttons, but no yarn.)
Was hoping to get some knitting done tomorrow while the gentlemen are out doing adventurous dungeons and dragons stuff but I've now committed myself to setting up an online presence for the Roman re-enactment group so we've got a meeting for that, plus Scouts admin and I've started writing again! (which is good cos the book I was contracted to write is about two years overdue haha)

Sandwichpup is lovely. Entirely cat household here, mind, so there is an element of envy!

Just had a thought! If they foolishly choose one of the others, does that mean you'll get less sub work at that school? Or will they still need a sub too?

No it won't make any difference to the sub work. I sub for any absent teachers, any subject. And there are not enough subs to go around atm. At one point a couple of weeks ago, this school had 23 teaching staff off school at once . I just had an email saying they won't be contacting people with their decision until tomorrow. I'd sit and knit, but I'm off to a new yoga class for the first time! Knitting tomorrow. And maybe a bit of browsing for next projects...

Btw to be fair to schools, it's not necessarily that they don't value experience, it's that their budget doesn't stretch to it .

My friend is Admin at the local college, unfortunately for her, getting subs is part of her job, so I have quite an education in subs in an average senior school...it's not pretty. Sadly lately it's been more 'you've got a pulse, that's great!!'

Your plan for tomorrow sounds good ... let us know which projects you choose!

Dealing with your mum sounds tough @MrsRussell and it sounds like you've got loads going on as well but how can there be no wool at a wool fair!!

No crochet at all for me this week, I've been ill. All tests say it isn't Covid, but I still feel rotten. I've had no energy in the evenings at all, even to concentrate on the TV, let along something complicated like counting to 20 It's very annoying, because I wanted to finish the cactus before Monday when our new rescue cats arrive. I have a horrible feeling that my yarn crafting might grind to a halt when they're settled in!

I KNOW @NiceCardigan what even is that about? The organiser - who is a friend of mine - was really sad about it, people just weren't booking tables and so nobody came through the doors.
On the other hand if I'm going to be doing the publicity for the Roman group, then I might learn some wickid (vampire) skillz to maybe help next year get more people in.

On the other hand, I've sorted out my wools to finish Rosa Mundi the cavalry horse's legs (she is lovely! I'll take photos when she's done) and binned a pile of cat-related tangle.

Sorry you're feeling below par @QuantumWeatherButterfly. I was going to say under the weather, but I thought it might not be very funny.....

We’re 3/4 of the way to my family. I put my crochet hook down at the services and then couldn’t find it I did my Tunisian crochet sampler that was in the door but I’ve reached a point where I’ve done all I can with that square now. My crochet bag and library books are in the car but not easily accessible at the minute. I was thinking I might actually have to talk to my husband for the remaining 1/4 of the journey fortunately as I went on the hunt for some car snacks I found my hook. Phew, that was a close one!
