Sorry you can’t see your grandad tomorrow crochetbug. Hopefully you feel better soon.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for you lucysmam

lazy pattern looks good!

CrochetBug · 12/12/2021 04:28

Thanks everyone. The nurse at 111 said its gastro... I've told you that already haven't I? Duh!

Sadly this was our last chance to see Grandad before Christmas, he lives in Cornwall and we're in Berks so we don't see him that often. We've also decided the boys shouldn't see him, just in case. He's in "good health" but he's 87 so it's just not worth the risk of him catching anything.

The good news is the dr (or nurse, I'm not sure what she was) said I shouldn't cook for others unless I'm the only person who can cook. I'm not so I get a couple of days off. Not that the boys ever want to make anything more than tuna pasta, but they'll have to. I'm not wasting my carb allowance on tuna pasta Grin

That pattern looks lovely @lazylinguist. You'll be designing jumpers before you know it Wink

Oysterbabe · 12/12/2021 10:36

I love that pattern lazylinguist It's going to look great.

I hope you feel better CrochetBug I'm sorry you aren't going to get to see your grandad Sad

I finished my dragon. I'm pretty happy with her and my limb sewing is getting better.

Good news for me, I'm covid free, it's just a bad cold, phew...

Oh no CrochetBug how horrible. I hope it passes quickly and no one else gets it! I'm sorry you're missing seeing your granddad.

That's so good Oysterbabe!

I love your chart lazy, I think it sounds really good, can't wait to see it when you start!

Brilliant lucysmam!

How are you doing @sophs29? Did you get your new sofa/wool stash hider? Smile

lazylinguist · 12/12/2021 12:32

Glad it's just a cold Flavia and hope you're on the mend!

I'm off to get the Christmas tree after lunch. I normally wait until the day the dc break up, but that's lateish this year, so today it is!

Aww thank you for asking @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack yes the sofa / yarn / art storage has arrived! It's great! I still haven't got much crochet done, hence why I haven't been involved in the thread much - I felt like a fraud writing on here when I haven't crocheted in months! I did make DS some mittens though..he already lost one the very first time he wore them but we found it again on a different walk 😂 so it just needs a wash! Did your table come? Also hope you're feeling better very soon, the colds going about at the minute are horrendous!

Hope everyone is doing well, I'll catch up with the thread properly soon when I get a chance!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 12/12/2021 18:32

Hey you have excellent taste sophs that's the same fabric as my sofa Grin

Cute mittens, that was so lucky to find it again too! You have to keep popping back into the thread for the natter part, knitting or crocheting is a bonus Smile My table did arrive, it's brilliant, my hall seems huge without the chest of drawers taking up so much space!

How'd you get on tree shopping lazy? DH was down at B&Q today and said they'd not many compared to previous years. We'll get one this week hopefully.

lazylinguist · 12/12/2021 19:29

Pretty good thanks Flavia. I usually go for a traditional Norway Spruce. I like their Chrostmassy smell, and the bonus is that they are cheaper too! We decorated it this afternoon.

Very nice lazy and tasteful too . Mine has all sorts of tat on it including some hideous decorations that PILs let the DCs choose at a garden centre years ago. Everyone insists they take pride of place just to wind me up.

lazylinguist · 12/12/2021 20:22

Grin I used to go for a more colourful look with lots of red, but although I don't generally feel the need to do a Christmas colour scheme to match my decor, red really shouts at the colours in my living room!

I hope you both wake up feeling better tomorrow @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack and @CrochetBug.

Lovely tree @lazylinguist. I can't believe you're designing fair isle! Lovely dragon @Oysterbabe. Well done both.

Don't stay away @sophs29

Hello @NiceCardigan and @InTheNightWeWillWishSmile

Not a stitch knitted this weekend. I'm feeling so exhausted and dealing with a situation with DD that I find very emotional regarding school. Too long a story really but I've been struggling this weekend. I feel run off my feet. Here's hoping for a happy Monday.

lazylinguist · 12/12/2021 22:38

Sorry to hear that @MerylSqueak. Kids and school can be such a worry. Sending happy Monday vibes your way.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 12/12/2021 22:48

Oh, lovely tree lazy!

I’m sorry to hear that Meryl, I hope it gets resolved soon for you and your DD. Will keep my fingers crossed for you Flowers

tizwozliz · 13/12/2021 14:14

I've actually managed to finish something! Admittedly only because it's tiny and didn't take too long.

I'm still undecided about having a tree this year, we're away for Christmas itself and I have a feeling it would be a constant exchange of decorations for treats with the puppy.

I did something very exciting today -my first flight in two years! Just an internal one to Glasgow for a few days.

Wow @NiceCardigan! Not sure when I was last on a plane!

I got to do a bit of vicarious yarn buying today! Dh gets Christmas presents for various colleagues as a thank you, and one of thrm is a keen crocheter. I chose her a lovely skein of chunky Malabrigo yarn and a Brittany birch crochet hook.

I don't generally feel the need to do a Christmas colour scheme to match my decor

My tree colour scheme used to match my living room decor, as they were both blue. Last year, as it was such a shit year, I decided to completely change my tree decor to orange and green. This year we’ve also decorated the living room so the tree sits against real curtains so it clashes a bit now. I do love my new colour scheme though. I know it sounds like a colour scheme that clashes but it does work!

Meryl sorry you’re struggling. Hopefully the school situation will sort itself shortly.

tizwozliz trees and labradors don’t always mix. I seem to spend my day shouting “don’t touch my baubles”!

Nicecardigan how exciting. We were last on a plane in early February 2020 as we were visiting FIL who had a heart attack in January. Obviously people were aware of covid then but nobody was really taking it seriously. We saw a couple of people in the airport in a face mask and our response was a bit Hmm we did catch up pretty quickly after that but it does make me laugh now how dismissive we were of covid at the point. We had no concerns about travelling through an airport to visit a family member who had recently had a heart attack (and they weren’t concerned either).

lazy lovely yarn. I’m sure DH’s colleague will love it.

My mum has come to visit. She’s fully embraced knitting nana and brought 74,512 knitted blankets, mittens, hats, booties and cardigans with her! So between everything she’s brought down and my own stuff it’s yarntopia in my living room!

lazylinguist · 13/12/2021 21:15

Yarntopia sounds ace!

Hey @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack - look what I spotted on FB, for sale just down the road from me... No idea what brand it is. Plus it's a double drive one (?). Looks nice and comes with hand carders and some fleece though!

lazy Oooh, I wonder how many bobbins it comes with? That's the only downside of unspecified brands, you night have trouble getting bobbins that fit. I'd also want a demo on it to make sure the wheel hasn't warped in storage if it hasn't been used for a while... It looks beautiful though and well finished. Are you thinking about it?

That's a beautiful gift! I love the hook, it looks very fancy!

InTheNightWeWillWish awh, that sounds lovely! Enjoy being fussed over Smile

NiceCardigan wow, that seems so exotic now Grin Enjoy! I love Glasgow.

That's so cute tizwozliz!

lazylinguist · 14/12/2021 08:03

I'm probably not thinking about it really Flavia tbh. I think as a beginner it's probably best to go for something more mainstream (and probably a single drive). It does look lovely though!

Loving the idea of yarntopia! We were supposed to be going to see Elton John (rearranged from 2020) tonight but he postponed again till June 2023 just after we had booked the flights and hotel so we decided to keep the trip. We are off to visit museums today and have a nice dinner booked then it's back to normal life tomorrow.

catwomandoo · 14/12/2021 09:06

Ooh hello everyone . Is it OK for me to join? I found you via another thread on fairisle . How lovely all your projects are!

I've been knitting on and off, but mostly off, for years so I'm a bit hit and miss with technique but YouTube has been a game changer.

Lockdown has reinvigorated my love of knitting, so projects have included:

A rather beautiful Noro heart blanket in the pic, some lovely cowls for friends, some rubbish stripy socks, and some gay balls (knitted rainbow yarn baubles) for my hairdresser and his husband Grin

Looking forward to seeing your work and picking your brains.

Sounds lovely NiceCardigan despite the disappointment of Elton John postponing...

That's why I went for the Ashford lazy, I figured it would be easier for a beginner. I've been spinning a gradient set recently for a pattern I want to knit and I shouldn't spin when I'm feeling off, the first two are spot on about DK weight but the third one is more like 4ply/heavy lace... I think it'll work out, but oops, annoyed with myself. I didn't have any concentration to knit and figured I'd spin because I was bored. Should have just played with my random fibre instead!
