@InTheNightWeWillWish I used to like to sit like that with dd2. I once rubbed all the fuzzy hair off the top of her head, absent-mindedly rubbing it with my chin 🤣 Took me ages to realise why she was partly bald & my chin was itchy Blush

Thanks for all the good luck wishes. I just need to add referees & it's done. Fingers crossed it's mine this time 🤞

I've crocheted a couple of snowflakes for a friend's memory tree over the past couple of evenings. She prefers the bigger one so I'll add the smaller one to my own small collection, crocheted by TheWoollyBacksWife.

They're both lovely@lucysmam

What a gorgeous head of hair @InTheNightWeWillWish. Crochet away!

Need pic of tank top! @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack. I have one too! I want my scarf too unfortunately way too expensive. Present only!

My yarn finally arrived and I'm happy. Will post pics tomorrow.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 09/12/2021 19:18

Awwwwwwwhhhhh! She's so gorgeous InTheNight! Ignore your HV Hmm My HV for DS1 was as much use as a chocolate teapot. Her DS and my DB went to school together and when she went round after my SIL had a baby she asked them how they could afford the house 😄 it was a normal semi, not a mansion 😂 I was so glad she'd retired by the time I had DS2..

There was a sea of small boys in flat caps and girls in bonnets at pickup today Grin

Oh no CrochetBug nightmare!

They're lovely lucysmam, fingers crossed for you!

Am I wrong to think he looks great? Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 09/12/2021 23:57

He looked like an adorable little urchin Grin

lazylinguist · 10/12/2021 07:21

Awww - adorable urchin Flavia and adorable baby, InTheNight! Oh and what in earth is that HV banging on about? Hmm I wish I'd learned to knit and crochet by the time I had my dc!

Me too! I also wish we'd had TV streaming too!

NiceCardigan · 10/12/2021 11:45

He looks lovelyFlavia and very jealous of having a warm baby on you while crocheting InTheNight sounds like a perfect way to pass the time!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 10/12/2021 12:42

crochetbug no idea why crochet is worse than shit TV. Crochet and shit TV go hand in hand! I would watch more shit TV while I crochet but DH games, so I’m often watching his gaming while crocheting. That’s really annoying about your order. I’ve not ordered from Hobbii before but you’d think they would just email you and say there’s a delay to your order than sending half the order out.

flavia he’s adorable 😍 lovely knitted tank top. One of the villages near me is famous for having a 1940s weekend and if you drive through on that weekend everyone is in their 1940s dress.

I don’t know why the HV took offence to my crochet Grin good to know I’m not the only one baffled by it. Although, this is a group of people who think very highly of their woolly goods so could be biased about the importance of making time to crochet and knitting Grin Weirdly the HV didn’t seem phased when I made a flippant joke about having a newborn being like that phase between Christmas and New Year, you don’t know what time it is, what day it is, you survive on biscuits and it’s acceptable to drink at any time of the day!

lazylinguist · 10/12/2021 13:03

My dh and me too! I don't watch shit tv though. Well... I mean... I watch some stuff that some people might think was shit Grin. What I meant was that I don't watch what people usually mean when they say shit tv (talent shows, soaps, chat shows etc). I watch mostly sci fi and fantasy films and series, action films etc. While (endlessly) breastfeeding dd, I re-watched all 7 seriesof Buffy the Vampire Slayer Grin.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 10/12/2021 13:51

Oh I don’t think it’s shit TV but plenty of other people would Grin I’m not one for soaps, chat shows or reality TV either. I do like craft competitions so bake off and similar things. The problem is that I then want to have a go at the craft! I’ve just binge watched Blown Away on Netflix and now want to start glass blowing. DH has rather rudely told me we can’t build a hot shop in the back garden. I know it’s probably LTB territory but it is Christmas soon and I’ve already bought his Christmas presents.

lazylinguist · 10/12/2021 15:41

Grin Glass blowing is probably a bit harder to do than crochet with a baby under one arm though!

I nearly had a disaster this morning. My robot hoover ate some of my lovely Methera yarn Shock. I had inadvertently left an end trailing out of my WIP bag, and he (the hoover) must have grabbed the end and wound about 2m of it around his insides. Thank goodness it was an end attached to a ball, not to the hat!

Well obviously! Grin But that’s where the labrador comes in, we strap the baby to the labrador and let them roam the fields at the back. Labrador will come home at tea time, it’s fine! DD’s pregnancy nickname was Mowgli because we anticipated this scenario.

It’s a good job you were in when running your robot hoover and it didn’t eat the whole ball. Or worse your hat. How does the robot hoover cope with dog fur and human hair? My hair is forever getting tangled round the hoover but my life goal is to have a robot hoover. It defeats the purpose somewhat though if I have to de-hair the internal bits every week. My MIL and PIL have a robot hoover upstairs and downstairs! That’s when you know you’ve made it Grin

lazylinguist · 10/12/2021 22:12

It copes fine with dog hair and cat hair and human hair! In fact the dog and cat are why I have a robot hoover. I rarely need to do any untangling tbh. I have 3 floors (sort of - a kind of half floor in between the 2 main floors) and only 1 robot hoover!

OP posts:
FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 11/12/2021 09:53

We have a robo hoover we call Bob and occasionally hear cries of "Bob!! Nooooooo!". It's a great incentive in theory to keep floors clear but in practice I retrieve a lot of Lego from the dust compartment.

Were you able to salvage the wool lazy?

You clearly have your new hobby well planned out InTheNight, your DH is very unreasonable Wink

I started to cough last night and I can't believe how rough I feel so quickly. I've been for a PCR test this morning and ordered one for DS2 whose started to cough today too. If this isn't covid, I really don't want to get it...

lazylinguist · 11/12/2021 11:19

Our robot hoover is, for some reason, called Appa (after a flying bison in an animated series my dc watched). Yes I only lost a couple of meters of wool and it was quite a big ball with lots left. Fortunately Appa must have been quite near the end of his run when he caught the wool so he didn't wind up that much of it!

OP posts:
lazylinguist · 11/12/2021 11:23

Ooh I didn't read the last bit of your post Flavia Blush Sorry you're feeling so rough! I don't know whether or not to say I hope it's not Covid! If it is, at least you might get it out of the way, get some more antibodies and be better and nice and immune for Christmas... Either way, I hope you and your ds are better very soon!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 11/12/2021 15:48

@InTheNightWeWillWish sorry my post was a bit unclear, hobbii did send it all but the package was ripped and everything fell out. Sad

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack hope you feel better soon.

I'm in bed with a suspected uti, I've been ill for 2 days so am on hold to 111 at the moment to try and get some antibiotics. I'm meant to be seeing Grandad tomorrow and really don't want to be too sick to go Sad

lazylinguist · 11/12/2021 15:56

Oh no - sorry to hear that @CrochetBug. Hope you get those antibiotics asap!

OP posts:
lucysmam · 11/12/2021 18:29

Ok, the form's submitted. I got dd1 to press submit though Xmas Blush Xmas Grin

CrochetBug · 11/12/2021 18:42

That's totally something I'd do @lucysmam Grin

The dr at 111 said it sounds like gastroenteritis not a uti. So happy days. Not. I just have to wait for it to pass. And it's highly contagious so can't see grandad tomorrow Sad

lucysmam · 11/12/2021 18:45

I've hovered over it through the day @CrochetBug & not actually got there 🙈🙈

That's a shame about not seeing Grandad tomorrow. Will you be able to see him before Christmas?

lazylinguist · 11/12/2021 19:03

Well done @lucysmam - fingers crossed for you!
Oh poor you @CrochetBug Sad. Gastroenteritis is no fun at all - I hope you're looking after yourself as well as you can. Such a shame about not being able to see your Grandad.

I've been playing about a bit with my coloured pencils and squared paper to try and create my own Fairisle design to go round my hat. There are some rules and guidelines (some practical and some just traditional) about how to use structure and colour in the patterns, so I've stuck to those for now.

I'm going to be using the same 3 coloirs as for dh's hat (burnt orange, deep blue and a neutral light greyish cream), but for mine the main hat colour will be the cream and the fairisle pattern will be mostly blue with some orange and a cream background.
