@Oysterbabe that dragon is lovely. Sewing limbs on is an art in itself!

@NiceCardigan gosh a plane. What's that? I haven't flown since 2003!

@lazylinguist that yarn is gorgeous! If you ever need someone else to buy things for then let me know Grin

@InTheNightWeWillWish How's baby? I'm so jealous Wink

@catwomandoo Welcome. That blanket is beautiful.

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack more beautiful yarn. I love the colours. I also misread this bit of your post Sounds lovely NiceCardigan despite the disappointment of Elton John postponing... as the disappointment of Elton John proposing which confused me for a moment!!

As always I've got a million projects on the go. About 100 more planned. And a ton of half thought out patterns in my brain. I've just finished this sock. Not sure if I'm going to finish something else before I make it's partner though.

Morning everyone! I'm just checking in to say hello and have a nosey at what everyone's been up to!

I've almost finished the reindeer willy, he just needs secretly assembling. & I've started a praying mantis for dd2 - she's decided on a spiny flower one for her birthday but her birthday is on the 28th & it's usually freezing so this is the promise of one when it warms up so that she still has something to unwrap on the day iyswim.

I'm not feeling very organised this week; I'm usually wrapped and pretty much done for Christmas by now but don't seem to have got as far as usual & now trying to cram it in around school and a couple of small social things (brew with a friend type things, not full on partying!), and sorting some birthday decs for dd2. She likes the tree left up so we tend to add to that but I've got nowhere with it this year Xmas Confused

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 14/12/2021 11:08

Lol CrochetBug that certainly would be confusing but it would make a memorable trip for NiceCardigan Grin love your sock, did you make the pattern up yourself?

I can't believe it's the 14th lucysmam, I don't know where time went! I've still to get presents for my nephew and niece and finish decorating. We started then all got sick so it came to a halt but we're on the mend now thankfully so I'll probably let the kids loose with the decorations later. That's a lovely idea for your DD2, I can't wait to see your photos!

lazylinguist · 14/12/2021 14:47

Welcome @catwomandoo - we haven't had a new recruit for a little while! I love your blanket!

I'm running to catch up with myself a bit too @lucysmam. My unpredictable work schedule doesn't help - just when I think I might have a morning or afternoon to get things done, the phone goes and I'm summoned to do supply! A real treat this morning- a personal development lesson on menstruation with a slightly bolshy mixed yr8 class I'd never met before...

Sorry you're still not feeling on top form @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack. Yes, I can imagine that spinning doesn't go well unless you're firing on all cylinders! That wheel that popped up on FB has got me back into obsessively researching spinning wheels again Blush. I keep getting tempted by the idea of the more expensive solid wood ones, but I think I'll still end up going for the Kiwi.

Oh and fab sock @CrochetBug - lovely colours too!

lucysmam · 14/12/2021 14:53

I can't say I envy you that class @lazylinguist Grin

Glad to see I'm not the only one who seems to be chasing my own tail!

I've come back with good news! I have an interview...in January! 3 weeks ish away! 3 weeks to stew Confused It's with our lovely Deputy Head and a HT I've never met.

lazylinguist · 14/12/2021 15:43

Awww congratulations on getting an interview @lucysmam! I'm sure you'll wow them.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 14/12/2021 15:58

lucysmam congratulations. It’s not 3 weeks to stew, it’s a week off for Christmas and some time either side to practice your power poses, prep your answers and prepare yourself for how blown away they’ll be!

crochetbug she’s good, thanks. Currently being fussed by nana who has today bought half the shop because I said I needed some vests Grin

lucysmam · 14/12/2021 18:34

Thanks all! I do appreciate the virtual cheers!

My current supervisor is brilliant & keeps giving me mini pep-talks too Grin.

The reindeer willy is done. He's very subtle so dd might not notice for a while what he is...

Howdidigetsoold · 14/12/2021 18:50

Hello everyone! Joining from the post I made on how to do fair isle patterns

CrochetBug · 14/12/2021 18:53

Well done @lucysmam. I'll keep everything crossed for you. Lovely willy too (not a phrase I say very often!) Grin

Nanas are so useful @InTheNightWeWillWish!

I kind of did and didn't make up the sock pattern, I used the pattern from the mosaic sock I made before but missed out the mosaic pattern because I didn't need have 2 colours. And then extended the ankle section so they were longer than trainer socks. About 10 rows into that bit I decided I wanted some kind of texture so changed to the raised treble pattern. But I couldn't be bothered to frog the DC rows so it looks a bit odd!
The colour is gorgeous. I didn't realise it had purple in it so it was a bit of a surprise Grin. Its not very nice yarn though, its not very soft and is very very thin in places. I'm hoping it will soften up when it's washed!

catwomandoo · 14/12/2021 19:19

Thankyou everyone for the warm welcome.

@Oysterbabe please can you point me to the pig pattern please? It's inspired me to learn how to crochet Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 14/12/2021 19:56

Congratulations lucysmam! Grin

Welcome Howdidigetsoold! Smile

Oh wow lazy, rather you than me on that class Grin it sounds horrendous to be dropped in it like that! Shock
There's a magazine called Spin Off I get digitally from my library and it has the most beautiful wheels advertised in it that I window shop every issue, but the kiwi is perfect for me for size and storage... I'm feeling so much better now thanks, my immune system must have got lulled into complacency with all the lockdowns and it's getting a rude awakening Grin

How are you feeling CrochetBug? Hope you're on the mend too!

lucysmam · 14/12/2021 20:27

@catwomandoo handily the etsy page of the pig designer is permanently open in my phone tabs 🤣

pig & piglets here There are many others too...

CrochetBug · 14/12/2021 20:34

Welcome @Howdidigetsoold. The age thing is a question I ask myself regularly. Grin

Thanks @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack, I'm feeling a lot better. Not quite 100% but not curled up in pain too scared to pass wind in case I shart like I was.

lazylinguist · 14/12/2021 20:42

Oh wow lazy, rather you than me on that class grin it sounds horrendous to be dropped in it like that!

It wasn't that dreadful, but it wasn't exactly my ideal lesson Grin. As a young teacher I would have found it a bit mortifying. I've definitely become a lot less embarrassable with age - well, I suppose it has to have some advantages!

Welcome @Howdidigetsoold! I hope you're pursuing your Fairisle plans - have you settled on a pattern or a type of project yet? I'm so enjoying my Fairisle hat that I'm going to make a second one with my own Fairisle design!

catwomandoo · 15/12/2021 06:51

@lucysmam thanks.

Now all I need is to learn to crochet. Any tips for YouTube tutorials?

Sorry fir being so demanding Grin

lucysmam · 15/12/2021 06:53

I used Bella Coco on youtube after several recommendations on here :)

lazylinguist · 15/12/2021 07:30

I can't even remember which videos I used to learn crochet, but there are certainly lots of them! One thing to watch out for is that the stitch terminology is different in the U.S and here, so you can end up doing the wrong stitches if you don't check whether the pattern is American or UK!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 15/12/2021 08:23

I used a DK book and YouTube. No one in particular, just whoever came up.

lazylinguist · 15/12/2021 22:23

Finished dh's hat!

@lazylinguist that's lovely. Love the colours.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 16/12/2021 08:11

That's lovely lazy! Your colourwork looks absolutely perfect!

lucysmam · 16/12/2021 10:11

That's amazing lazy! Does your DH like it?

lazylinguist · 16/12/2021 16:56

Thank you! Yes dh really likes it. He's worn it today. I really enjoyed doing the colour work on this. More so than on my most recent jumper, for some reason. I think I like using more than 2 colours. Also the problem with the jumper was that you do the Fairisle yoke and then have acres of single colour stocking stitch to do! Fairisle on smaller projects is fun. Having said that, I'd really like to make myself a jumper with an all-over traditional Fairisle pattern!
