Good luck lazy, remember to add virtually organising a group of yarn crazed women and planning craft alongs to your transferable skills section Grin

Genuinely though, I did realise the other day that knitting/crochet comes with a lot of transferable skills into the job market - admin, project management, budget management, redeveloping a project, persistence to continue when you’ve frogged a project 20 times and not being afraid to ask for help. Next time I apply for a job I might have to try and wiggle all this in Grin

Grin I will enjoy seeing how that would fit in with the person specification.

Good luck with your application lazylinguist!

InTheNight you make a very good point about all the transferrable skills!

Ok, you all know by now that my photography skills are of course EPIC Hmm. Do my cables look ok? I feel like the bit going \ is missing but, having never done them before, I'm not sure if it just looks that way from a distance

Thats weird

lucysmam · 11/03/2021 10:26

Your cat looks comfy there bruffin, & also really strokeable! Were the letters hard to incorporate?

bruffin · 11/03/2021 10:56

The letters were part of the pattern but supposed to be A-M at the top and N_Z at the bottom. I printed it out and cut out all the letters and stuck them back in the right order, so wasnt really that difficult

tizwozliz · 11/03/2021 13:16

I'm not sure my crochet skills are something I'd want to shout about right now "Repeatedly fails to count to 20 correctly" isn't generally what employers are looking for! :-)

bruffin · 11/03/2021 13:57

@tizwozliz
I find thats what puts me off crochet most, the counting. Ive found a good app for knitting count rows etc but i find counting stiches confusing

CrochetBug · 11/03/2021 15:38

@lazylinguist how did you get on?

@tizwozliz I've been having counting issues on my current wip. I keep losing a stitch every 15 rows or so, and it's only when I do the V stitch section that I notice. No idea why I can get it right for ages and then randomly miss a stitch Grin

@lucysmam it looks good. But I think that the rows between the cable rows should be SCs into the fpdc and it looks like you've done DCs.

lucysmam · 11/03/2021 15:54

@CrochetBug thanks for looking! I've just spotted a mistake in the first cable twists on that row so will take it back to there for now & double check whether they're sc or dc into the fpdc.

lucysmam · 11/03/2021 17:19

I've thoroughly enjoyed silence day Grin I'd done loads by 10am & spent just over an hour making a Gryffindor scarf bookmark for dd2's lovely TA, before heading back to work.

So this is what I did today

lazylinguist · 11/03/2021 19:44

That's so cute, @NiceCardigan!

Today I have: walked the dog twice, spent 5 hours Shock doing a job application, made cheese and onion pasties and ratatouille.

Job applications take ages. I updated my cv last week and it took hours!

lazylinguist · 11/03/2021 22:03

I'm on Part 3 for the second time on my extended CAL blanket. I'm hoping that a repeat of parts 1-÷ will make it long enough and that I can get straight on with the border and fringe. Has anyone started the KAL yet, or are we waiting until everyone is ready? Waiting is no problem for me - got plenty to work on!

eitak22 · 11/03/2021 22:34

I've done no crochet today, my back has been killing me and work was tough but hoping to continue on my cowl in the next few days.

sophs29 · 12/03/2021 08:36

@lazylinguist I really feel for you when it comes to the border 😩 are you doing the border in the pattern or your own?
I'm on my very last round now and I just find 6 rows of border a bit..excessive 😂 but it has pulled it all together and it looks so much neater than I thought it would!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 12/03/2021 09:49

Cute NiceCardigan! Now she needs some friends Grin

I always make my amiguriami ( I can't spell that at all) look sinister around the eyes. Which is a problem as DS wants a Hedwig. I can't decide on which new big project to start so I think I'll give Hedwig a go and make myself a new hat while I dither.

NiceCardigan · 12/03/2021 09:54

@Flavia the pattern picture had a blue and a pink chick as well so I could make a friend. It was my first attempt at amigurumi and yes the eyes are the hardest bit!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 12/03/2021 10:27

Wow, that's an amazing first attempt! Shock that's better than my not at all first attempts Grin

tizwozliz · 12/03/2021 11:20

Cute chick. I need to practice some embroidery eyes for my octopus. Mostly I use safety eyes which tends to avoid the sinister look but this is for a baby so embroidery it is. At least it's easier to judge the correct place that way, safety eyes you often have to put in when still only half a head.

CrochetBug · 12/03/2021 11:40

Well apparently I can't knit at all. Even though I used to be able to do it badly. I can't seem to 'catch' the stitch if that makes sense. No idea what I'm doing wrong. I'll have to ask Mum when I see her next week!

Oh well. Its not like i don't have enough crochet WIPs to get on with. And I need to get the sewing machine out really. But for now I'll work on this blanket for my friend who's having a baby girl.

Oh and I agree that 6 rounds on the CAL border seemed like too many. But actually it was perfect when it was done.
