Oh thank you so much @InTheNightWeWillWish I think she looks adorable as she is!

lucysmam · 02/04/2021 16:29

Stars are done - I found a different pattern & used that with different sized hooks for the different sizes.

I'm quite pleased with them. The smallest one was hardest - 2.5mm hook with aran is quite hard work! I did try with a 2mm but that was waaaay too small

Umm, yeah Sophs it was very cheap when I used drop spindles but not so much now Blush but on the other hand, I love John Arbon yarn and it's about £5 for 100g of fibre and £15+ for 100g of wool so in the very long term, I might break even 🤣

Myshitisreal wow, that really finishes it beautifully!

CrochetBug you're flying though that, it looks great!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 02/04/2021 16:51

I'd been typing that for 20 mins supervising the kids Grin they look great lucysmam!

lucysmam · 02/04/2021 17:18

I quite often have the issue of things taking rather a loooong time to type when the kids are about Flavia Hmm Grin

I'm planning to pin the shoulder seams and side seam tonight. Does anyone have a preferred way of joining them? I was thinking maybe sc but not sure.

Myshitisreal · 02/04/2021 17:48

Meant to say i love the sophies blanket that's going on. So many lovely projects.

@lucysmam the wee stars are very cute. Attic 24 has cute stars and hearts if you ever need. What Cardigan did you make?I've never made a wearable. I would guess double crochet but maybe some folk would use slip stitch. I l find slip stitch very
Fidgety.

Requested kitty pic. She has this seat squished in between the sofa and my husbands armchair. She likes to be beside him . She's an auld souk 😂

Im waiting on some fleece arriving to back a second scarf for mum.

Can anyone recommend a luxurious wool? Something for a fancy scarf, ill pop a link up in a minute. It's for mum, an order this time 🤯 think Mrs bouquet, only the best is the best 😂 cost not so much an issue

I was looking at merino drops delight. It feeling nice is very important

lucysmam · 02/04/2021 18:03

This one @Myshitisreal.

I wouldn't buy it again though. Very frustrating & bits are written the wrong way round Confused

Kitty's very sweet 😊 your pic made me smile.

lazylinguist · 02/04/2021 18:19

Just catching up and looking at all your lovely stuff. I switched my phone back on 15 mins ago after the 24hr 'digital detox' I've decided I'm going to have once a week. I'm far too glued to it normally. Weirdly I didn't miss it and wasn't tempted at all to switch it back on though! It's going to be every week, normally from Friday 6pm to Saturday 6pm. I decided to do it Thurs-Fri this time though because schools finished yesterday so it felt like Friday!

That cardigan is lovely, @CrochetBug! Loving the stars and blankets too. I've been working on my KAL cushion this afternoon. Hoping I can progress a bit faster with it now that it's the Easter holidays, but I've also still got 5 chairs to reupholster and need to take off the bathroom wallpaper!

@Myshitisreal that’s one cosy kitty!

I haven’t posted this in here yet but I have this wool, which is called ‘hand dyed happiness’. It certainly seems to live up to its name when I hold it. I’ve not made anything with it... yet. It was a ridiculous amount for 100g of wool Blush www.johnlewis.com/rico-design-happiness-dk-yarn-100g/blue/p5192023?sku=238946061&s_ppc=2dx92700059900744736&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwZS-5ong7wIVJkeRBR0UtQawEAQYASABEgKeXvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

My dad got me a John Lewis voucher for my birthday because he wanted to give me something ‘fun’ after the crappy year. We told him we decorating the living and he suggested I paint from JL, because that’s fun Hmm Anyway, I decided the most fun (and most dad disapproving) thing was hand dyed happiness. If the particular colour doesn’t work for your mum they have a couple of different colours to pick from. I find it really soft. There are also loads of hand dyed yarns on Etsy to check out too.

@lucysmam I'd use this method to seam because it's nice and flat.

Im really enjoying the Tunisian. Although the sleeves are fiddly Grin

That wool is stunning thank you. I'll have a good look. I've never looked at hand dyed.

@crochetbug did you get the curling fixed? You could go off piste and regular crochet. I imagine you follow patterns to the exact note though. You're very brave!

@lazylinguist can't believe you're upholstering chairs. That's outside my skill level. I have a sewing machine I wish I knew how to use

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 02/04/2021 19:33

Myshitisreal your wish is my command www.tribeyarns.com/collections/yarn/products/100-qiviut-musk-ox-2ply

GrinGrinGrin

I mean, I'd love to just hold it to see what it's like but I'd be afraid to in case I held it for too long and had to pay for it!

On a serious note, drops merino is very very soft!

CrochetBug · 02/04/2021 20:21

@Myshitisreal the border was regular crochet Grin
It's curled slightly, but not as bad s it did with the snmaller hook. Oh I often go off pattern if I think my version is better. Blush
I've done half a sleeve today, been a bit lazy really. I need to find the tape measure to keep track of how long it is though. I had it the other day, no idea where it went Hmm

lucysmam · 02/04/2021 21:20

Thanks @CrochetBug I'm just about to pin it now so will give that a whirl tomorrow after we've been for a walk to the market and back.

I have approx eleventy billion tape measures in the house; there's still never one to hand when I want/need one 🤷‍♀️

CrochetBug · 02/04/2021 21:53

Same here on the tape measure front. Where do they all go? I found one under the footrest part of the sofa. That's where most things seem to end up here Grin

lucysmam · 02/04/2021 22:00

Dd2 usually ends up with mine, and the diy one, in her bedroom. Goodness knows what she's measuring up for 🤷‍♀️

Shoulder and side seams are pinned. I'm not 100% convinced I've pinned the sides in the right places but it all lines up well enough & I remembered to leave armhole spaces so we'll see over the weekend.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 02/04/2021 22:22

DH regularly plays where is the DIY tape measure. Like 5 times a week. We shouldn’t need to measure this stuff. He’s banned from touching my tape measures as a result. I have a little collection of crochet stuff including a tape measure on my desk and then a little plastic compartment thing with stick markers, needles and my other tape measure. With my desk one, I find myself playing with it during my video calls, I can see people discreetly squinting at the screen to see what I’m fiddling with.

lazylinguist · 02/04/2021 22:22

@lazylinguist can't believe you're upholstering chairs. That's outside my skill level. I have a sewing machine I wish I knew how to use.

I have no sewing machine and can't sew to save my life! My chair upholstering involves some cut-up curtains, a staple remover, a staple gun and zero skill of any kind!

Not sure I'll be managing the 2nd sleeve tonight, but might have the energy to sew the ends in on this one and sew it up. If only I had a baby to wear it Grin

I actually gasped at that Cardigan, that's so stunning!!! 😍

What is it about tape measures??? Our metal one now has a home (i kept putting it different places) and I have a roll up one in my little pencil case. It fits inside the little orange pouch in the photo. I threaded my scissors to prevent them going missing and my magnet keeps my darning needle safe 😂

CrochetBug, that's amazing! Right a cardigan is definitely going onto my project list - although I'm not sure I know any small people who would appreciate it, so might have to be adult-sized.

And Myshitisreal, glad to see I'm not the only one with a demanding cat. This blanket was meant as a cat box liner, as I had some left over from doing a hideously bright but he chose the colours rainbow blanket for DS. And now it's the only way she'll sit on my knee in the evening - but it's so lovely when she does, I'll forgive her. Excuse my unglamorous pyjamas and feet!

I'll do a Sophie update tomorrow when I'm cat-free. Not least because I keep spotting mistakes in previous rounds - most of them I've managed to cover up (as it's got to the stage that it's too big to frog) but there's one I need opinions on - watch this space!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 03/04/2021 06:07

crochetbug that’s so pretty. I can’t believe how quick you’ve got to grips with Tunisian and alread made something. Or 3/4 of something!

BookShark · 03/04/2021 10:30

Okay, so Sophie update attached, with a request for advice please. In the bit circled in red, it was meant to be a fptc around the fptc from the earlier round, but clearly I missed it and went around the adjacent stitch instead. It's not hugely obvious, but it will annoy me - but I can't bear the idea of frogging back about 3 rounds to correct it.

Do you think I can do anything clever with a sewing needle to pull it over to the correct stitch - or at least closer so that it's less obvious? Or should I just ignore it and hope I forget about it?!
