Do any of you have any idea where to get a single "Folklore" patch similar to my pic, for the cardi? I'm not thrilled at the thought of paying £8 for one tbh.

I've tried amazon, ebay and etsy so far.

I'm a genius (not really!) Personalised sew on patch on etsy...£4 ish. That'll do I think.

Thanks all for your crossed fingers about my job application. In other news though, there's another job for me to apply to! They're like buses - none for ages and then all arrive at once! This one is at a school that's part of the same multi-academy trust as the other one, but is actually a bit more suited to my experience and qualifications (it's a bit more academic and has a big 6th form). The only downside is that it's a bit further away. I'm hoping that as they're part of the same trust, they might use the same application form!

This weekend, in addition to the usual bits of knitting and crochet, I'm hoping to do another craft/diy project - reupholstering my dining room chairs. I've got some old curtains that I'm going to use - hope it will turn out ok!

Good luck @lazylinguist

sophs29 · 27/03/2021 14:58

@InTheNightWeWillWish I love those little dragons! So cute!!

@petridishmystery the way the pattern has come out is so nice! I love it!

@lucysmam I was going to say try a personalised label or something similar! some people charge an arm and a leg for things - so cheeky!

@lazylinguist good luck for your application! I'm a SAHM at the moment due to having my baby and having no other childcare and typically I keep getting emailed about amazing job opportunities Sad

My WW order has arrived!! I haven't opened it yet as we've been gardening all morning/afternoon! So excited to have a look later with a cuppa or maybe a gin!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 27/03/2021 15:15

@lucysmam with the bunny Garland, I’ve been missing the sc in the first stitch in the ears as I thought it made them too pointy. So I’ve still been chaining 6, hdc into the second stitch and working my way down following the pattern.

@lazylinguist I don’t have teaching experience but I did visit a careers coach before lockdown (for all the good it did me). He recommended doing a career narrative before applying, it’s sounds wanky as hell, but basically write an engaging story of what you’ve done in your career, then use as a base for applications and interviews. I can’t say I had much success with it Grin but it did help me to realise which bits I’m really proud about and can’t talk passionately about.

lazylinguist · 27/03/2021 16:13

Sounds like good advice, @InTheNightWeWillWish. Trouble is, all the good and most relevant stuff I did was ages ago before I had kids!

Ooh yarn delivery, @sophs29? We shall await photos...

Back panel's done! I'm really pleased with it

@lucysmam that looks fab!

I'm a little concerned about my WW order. I haven't had a confirmation email, and the items still show as being in my online basket Hmm
But I've had a PayPal receipt and in the "my orders" section on the website it shows "order received" Confused

lucysmam · 27/03/2021 16:52

Has the money come out of your account CrochetBug? I'd be tempted to ring & confirm they have it.

I'm on with the left front panel now. Hopefully it'll be quicker to work up now I've got the hang of the cables, and it's less than half the stitches width-wise 🤞

sophs29 · 27/03/2021 17:04

@lucysmam the cables look great!

@CrochetBug that's a bit strange! Hopefully yours arrives soon! I was surprised how quickly mine was here to be honest! Still haven't had a chance to open it yet - I want to actually enjoy opening it and looking through it without rushing Grin

InTheNightWeWillWish · 27/03/2021 18:08

lucysmam that’s looking great

lucysmam · 27/03/2021 21:31

Can one of you read the bit of this pattern for left front...I'm not nuts thinking R2 needs to be worked the other way round to what it says, am I? So the 4 sc sit between my two cable rows rather than at the other end of the row, and the fpdc have a sc in between them too??

Knit, Crochet and Natter 4 - Yarning into Spring
lucysmam · 27/03/2021 21:34

In fact, I think every other repeat of row 2 needs working the opposite way round Confused

lucysmam · 27/03/2021 21:58

Changed my mind back again, every repeat of r2 needs to be worked the opposite way to how it's written.

I've emailed the Etsy seller again to see whether they agree but I've tried both ways round and theirs, how it's written, ends up with some of the stitches not sitting properly lined up with each other 🤷‍♀️

If I'd paid more than £2.50 I'd be miffed but I suppose it's all learning for me!

CrochetBug · 27/03/2021 22:06

Without doing it, I think you're right @lucysmam, but I always struggle to visualise a pattern.

lucysmam · 27/03/2021 22:09

Thanks CrochetBug I've packed it up for tonight after faffing about for a while; I'll do some more my way in the morning & see if it works properly.

lazylinguist · 28/03/2021 11:54

Rather impulsively instructed dh to cut my hair this morning Shock. I was a bit worried how it would turn out, as I have very fine, slippy hair that's hard to cut, but I think he did an ok job! It was just below shoulder length and getting splitty and straggly.

He's done a good job lazy! It's very even.

lazylinguist · 28/03/2021 12:29

Thanks! He's definitely in the good books this weekend - hairdressing, major diy, plus he's just made some homemade soup for lunch, which smells delicious!

I did a bit more KAL cushion this morning - does anyone else like a bit of weekend morning knitting/crochet before anyone else is up? It's my favourite tine to do it!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 28/03/2021 13:16

lazy your DH has done a good job. Was it a nerve wracking experience for everyone involved? DH cut my hair years ago when I couldn’t afford the hairdressers. He did a good job but it did end up a bit shorter than I originally wanted. He managed to get it straight but that’s because he’s quite anal so a straight edge played to his strengths but he was really tense doing it and we’ve agreed he won’t do it again. Even now! So I’m currently doing a Cousin Itt impression, well if Cousin Itt had dark brown hair.

lazylinguist · 28/03/2021 14:46

Cousin Itt Grin. It was a little bit nerve-wracking, because he kept saying "Oops!" and "Oh dear" and dd kept laughing Shock. I'm actually planning to have it cut properly short (pixie type cut) once I manage to get to a hairdresser's though, so it would have been a fairly short-lived disaster if it had gone badly. But the ends were just beginning to really piss me off, and I thought what the hell, might as well let him have a go! His soup was amazing too (carrot and roast pepper with cream)!

lucysmam · 28/03/2021 15:03

I'm back. I'm half way through the left front panel; r2 was written backwards 🙄

I wondered if someone a little more experienced than me would have a look at the border instructions & help me work out at which points to place the three buttons I've bought. They're not actually included in this pattern but are on the original cardi.

I've been youtube-ing & actually making the button holes seems simple enough -it's just working out where to place them.

It's 66 rows tall -so, I obviously need (maybe?) 20 or so stitches for the neckline, leaving 46 so 6 rows up, then 15 up, then 15 up again? Does that sound ok? & placed on row 5 of the border either side?

Hair looks lovely @lazylinguist isn't it funny how we imagine how people will look? Haha! for some reason I pictured you with really short dark hair!
I'm so tempted to cut myself a fringe, I've always cut my hair anyway as I have a blunt 'lob' so it's quite easy really!

@lucysmam it sounds right but I'm the same as crochetbug and can't properly picture it unless I'm doing it myself!

I opened my WW order, I'm happy with it all, apart from one colour which is actually rather blue in RL but looked more green on the website!

CrochetBug · 28/03/2021 18:07

Glad you've got it sorted @lucysmam. It's mad that no one else has pointed out the errors in the pattern!
For the buttons I think I'd be inclined to put the cardigan on before crocheting the button band and mark where they need to go with stitch markers. Then adjust them to make them evenly spaced.

@sophs29 you can't mention opening an order and not include a photo! That's illegal. Grin
