Oh wow @CrochetBug you need to send us photos when it arrives! That's my idea of heaven! I placed a WW order yesterday and spent £25 and was quite smug about that hahaha Grin bet you can't wait for it to come!

CrochetBug · 25/03/2021 20:00

It wasn't all yarn. I also ordered knitting needles and a Tunisian hook and some yarn needles because mine have all gone walkabouts. But mostly yarn. I might kiss the postie when it comes. Grin I did try to attach a photo of the order but it wouldn't load. Confused

sophs29 · 25/03/2021 20:56

Sounds like a great hoard @CrochetBug Grin your postman will need a back rub after carrying all that haha!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 25/03/2021 21:17

Oh, that was lovely of your friend CrochetBug! We will definitely need photos, I wonder how big the package will be?! And can you lie down and make a wool angel in it? Grin

lucysmam · 25/03/2021 21:22

Uff, I tried posting a while ago but it wouldn't work

CrochetBug I would have dithered for days with that amount to spend!

Have any of you used the yarn pictured? I ordered it for the jumper for myself & just wondered what you thought of it, if you have? Bit late to change my mind now, mind you 🤷‍♀️

I’ve used their Aran with wool and it’s really hard wearing and doesn’t bobble lucysman

I’ve been having trouble posting too, I’m pretty sure it’s an advert breaking the JavaScript but I couldn’t work out which one so was using an Adblock for a bit.

CrochetBug · 25/03/2021 21:34

I might have to try and make a yarn angel Grin The biggest order I've done before was about £50 and it came in a big box so no idea what this will be like!

I think I used some hayfield bonus a couple of years ago @lucysmam but I'm not 100% sure. My granny square shawl was Hayfield but not the bonus dk so not the same. I've ordered quite a bit of it though so it had better be nice! Their colour selection is gorgeous.

I just assumed it was my internet Flavia; both girls were streaming Minecraft Twitchers & their dad was playing F1, it's normally me who struggles to use it when they're all on it like that 🤷‍♀️

CrochetBug it was between that pink and one of the blues - if this is nice, I might go back for the blue!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 25/03/2021 22:22

I’ve ordered some Hayfield Bonus DK. I’ve got navy, black and silver mist. Navy and black were perfectly fine, nice and soft. Silver mist feels less soft but I wouldn’t say it’s scratchy but definitely not as soft as the other two. It’s also not really what I would describe as silver mist, it’s a colour somewhere between sage and sky blue. As it feels different to the navy and black, I’m assuming it’s just an off batch though. I’ve used the black and navy and they work up well enough. I’ve not used the silver mist as it was the wrong colour and it’s been designed to the shelf until I can work out what to do with it.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 25/03/2021 22:23

Designated not designed to the shelf 🤦‍♀️

lazylinguist · 26/03/2021 09:30

His eyes lit up at the mention of the star wars and Harry Potter stuff. Please let me know when it's sorted and he can see if he can afford it/still wants it

I'll keep you updated! We are supposedly taking one model at a time, finding all the pieces, bagging them up ready to sell (and ordering any missing pieces online). But the dc are pretty reluctant because it takes ages. I'm darned if I'm doing it for them though! We've only done a LotR one and a Hobbit one so far, but I'll persuade them to do a Star Wars or HP one next!

We have a Hogwarts castle one (the small version), Hagrid's Hut, a small quidditch set and the Knight Bus (that's my fave!).

I remember the first time a friend of DS came over to our house and within about 15 mins he'd poured all DS's Lego sets into a pile in the middle of his bedroom floor, it took us over a year before we managed to build all the sets properly again, so many tiny fiddly bits hiding just when you needed them to finish the set! Oddly enough, that child went on the play outside list Grin

I've started a hat for portable knitting, it's on 2.25 and 2.5mm needles so it'll keep me going a while.

lucysmam · 26/03/2021 11:05

I've just had an email - Deramores are doing 50% off their own brand yarn until Sunday & free delivery over £20 (although I only spent £15 last weekend & it still gave me free delivery).

Maybe I'll go back for the blue I was eyeing up too...

InTheNightWeWillWish · 26/03/2021 11:41

lucysmam they had a free delivery event last week because I only spent £10 but still got free delivery (also spent £10 at WW but that’s beside the point). The problem with deramores own brand wool is they always seem to be out of stock for at least one colour that I want. I’ve been collecting wool for a large rainbow blanket and I’m down to one missing colour. I want some extra colours for a second blanket and was hoping I could put that order in when the one ball came back into stock! But now they’ve put their own brand to 50% off those other colours will likely go out of stock 😭 I might have to do some yarn admin and work out what colours I can shuffle into different projects. The few colours I need is not enough for free postage and I really, really don’t need more wool.

lucysmam · 26/03/2021 17:28

Oooh, that explains it then! It still had "free delivery over £20" at the top so I didn't realise!

I've just seen a really pretty Sophie's Universe on fb - it's white, blue, and pink. Looks really effective done like that.

I'm going to try again with some of the cardi tonight. I only have 15 rows ish until the back panel's done. I'm hoping the rest comes together quite quickly after that until I run out of yarn.

lazylinguist · 26/03/2021 22:04

I did a bit more of my extended CAL last night and am working on the KAL cushion this evening. Looks like I haven't got an interview with the school I applied to Sad. I'm pretty sure they'd have let me know by now if I had, as they broke up for Easter today, a week earlier than us. Hey ho.

That’s rubbish lazy I’ve still got my fingers crossed for you and hoping they’re just really slow with all the changes going on at the minute. We were meant to advertise a role the first week in January but internal politics, budget approval and general pissing about means we’ve not even put the advert out yet.

I finished MIL’s dragon egg and dragon tonight and I’ll send them tomorrow. PIL aren’t expecting the dragon eggs but probably won’t be fazed when they open the box to this. I’ve got a few bits to finish for the care home this weekend - an Easter bunny and some bunny Garland. The chick and bunny basket are done. Then I think I’m bunnied out, at least until next year!

@InTheNightWeWillWish those are amazing, I love them!!

My newest name is this. I’m having trouble capturing the true colours as they keep showing brighter than they are irl, I’ve had to put a filter on it! I didn’t know it would look like this with the sort of self patterning effect and I think it’s so pretty. Probably could do with a pompom but it’s not really hat weather here anymore so lll leave it for now.

Will keep fingers crossed for you lazy, I know somewhere that got their interview process disrupted when the interviewers had to self isolate and who knows at the moment?

Pity you couldn't include a camera in the box InTheNight Grin

Ooh, that's pretty Petri what yarn was it?

I'm abandoning ship to hide out in the garage today and mess around with dyes, it's feels like I'm going on holiday Wine

InTheNightWeWillWish · 27/03/2021 09:25

petri I love the pattern on the hat! It’s a glorious day here today but yesterday was definitely hat weather. Actually it more like stay inside and hope the house doesn’t get washed away kind of weather!

flavia pity I couldn’t include a camera when SH took it to the post office! He’s told me he it’s cost £11 to send it his parents and he had to fill out a customs form as they live in Europe! So DH has just had to fill out a customs form for crochet toys. Who knew crocheting would be affected by brexit. Apparently DH also doesn’t know how to spell crochet so he might be pulled up by customs at some point! So it looks like anything else I make for inalws will have to wait until they come over, then they can smuggle it back in their cases, along with other UK contraband like bounties and fudge.

lucysmam · 27/03/2021 09:29

Aah, lazy that's rubbish. But like the others said, they may just be held up. A colleague of mine has been asked to wait two weeks after an interview, because they had tech issues getting in touch with the other interviewees.

InTheNight they're ace! Dd2 would love them...I'll not show her though, I'd quite like to do my jumper next Grin. What pattern did you follow for the bunny garland? I got frustrated when I tried one so gave up 🙈

Petri that looks very effective. I used to like making pompoms. I find the flash distorts colours but it's quite hard to capture them properly in natural light too.

Flavia that sounds fun!

10 rows of cardigan back left to do! The girls will likely spend today mooching about watching various Minecraft streamers, so that's my aim...unless I loose the ability to count again Grin

InTheNightWeWillWish · 27/03/2021 11:18

lucysmam knottednest.com/easter-bunny-garland-free-crochet-pattern/ I’m using this one, although I’ve only completed one bunny so far so they could be a bugger to connect to the chain Grin

lucysmam · 27/03/2021 11:25

Thanks InTheNight, I might have a go later on. I vaguely recall scrolling through that one last weekend.

petridishmystery · 27/03/2021 12:52

Thanks @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack it’s this one
