I have This Golden Fleece too, I really enjoyed it so I can second Lazy on that one.

I have in no way the stamina or willpower for temperature anything, it would sit there in silent neglect just annoying me if I started.

I really enjoy Kitchener stitch, wax on wax off... Grin

Dilbertian · 02/01/2021 14:57

I had to re-learn grafting with every sock I made. It just doesn't stick. No idea whether I did Kitchener stitch. Last time I made a sock was 10 years ago.

I keep starting sock projects, get bored or frustrated, unravel the lot and repurpose the yarn for something else. Sock yarn is fabulous for lacy shawls and self-patterning yarn makes the long rows more interesting. In the last 10 years I've also made hats, waistcoats and toys out of sock yarn. But not socks.

lazylinguist · 02/01/2021 15:24

I wouldn't say I enjoy Kitchener stitch! I agree, Dilbertian - I've made about 8 pairs of socks in the last year and I still have to closely and carefully follow the Kitchener stitch instructions every time. It's fine, but for some reason I don't learn it or get into the rhythm of it at all!

I do toe-up socks precisely because I hate grafting the toes! Easier to fit them as you go too 😊

tizwozliz · 02/01/2021 20:31

No idea why I'm making this, I have loads of other things I could be finishing off

Hi all! I am a new Christmas crocheter, armed with a “complete beginners” kit. I thought I was making quite good progress but somehow my last few rounds seem to have changed pattern and I have no idea how... I had a sort of waffle texture before but now I’m suddenly, and unintentionally getting hoops! What am I doing wrong?!

RMRM · 03/01/2021 14:08

I think you might have it inside out (so easily done when you are a beginner) or only be stitching into one of the loops instead of through both.

ProbablyLate · 03/01/2021 14:29

Thanks @RMRM, having done some googling I think I might have been doing both of those things at once! I will have another go Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 03/01/2021 14:29

That's brilliant Liz! What pattern is that if you don't mind me asking? DS is obsessed with Dino Dana and her dino hats and that looks like it would be adaptable.

That the point I'd curse crochet and beg my DM to fix it for me ProbablyLate Smile but someone here will definitely know!

lazylinguist · 03/01/2021 14:46

Love your cute dinosaur, tiz! I'm liking the look of my cowl so far. It's very easy, just 10cm of k2p2 rib at the top and bottom and stocking stitch in between. I might have to start a more challenging project too... it's a toss-up between the Neville Longbottom cardigan and one of those beautiful Jennifer Steingass jumpers.

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack

I've actually just unpicked the eyes as I decided I hadn't placed them quite right.

It's this pattern

www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/theo-the-t-rex

I bought the book for the pterodactyl pattern and saw that it had some other nice patterns too so justified getting the whole book over buying one pattern (the pterodactyl pattern was 2/3rd of the price i paid for the book).

The one thing I'd say about the patterns I've done so far is that everything has ended up much bigger than expected. A lot of my amigurumi is done with dmc petra 3 and a 2mm hook so normally my creations turn out quite small. I almost used ricorumi yarn and glad i didn't as would have been huge.

This is a good dino pattern that I've used a lot if you want something free, i think i posted examples up thread.

Precisely! I have large calves and would probably need to shape the socks to accommodate them.
tizwozliz · 03/01/2021 15:27

All the talk about felting reminded me I wanted to crochet then felt some slippers this year - something like this

www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/toasty-toes-5

Basically crochet something huge then put it in the washing machine to shrink it :-)

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 03/01/2021 15:30

Thanks Liz, I'll give the free one a go and see how I get on!

Lililou · 03/01/2021 15:50

Thanks all for the encouragement. Second bootie is done (it's actually the third after I messed up the second). They're quite large, probably be a a while before they can wear them 😂

They're so adorable 😍

Barmbraic · 03/01/2021 18:40

They are very cute! What pattern did you use?

NiceCardigan · 03/01/2021 18:48

Very cute I think I need to borrow a baby from somewhere to knit for.

Lililou · 03/01/2021 19:52

Thanks all

@NiceCardigan here's the link to the video I followed, it guides you through step by step so great for beginners

Lililou · 03/01/2021 19:53

I've started a hat now, I'm on a roll 🤣🧶

Keeps my mind off this being the last day of Xmas hols.

^This. While avoiding the temptation to demand grandchildren, since dd is only 15. My DM badgered me about producing GC from an unnecessarily early age. Hmm

Hi I'm Mina, I recently took up crochet after having my DD. My first few projects were baby bottle costs but I quickly moved on to a granny square blanket but now I'm having a block as I am unsure whether to make the blanket bigger or leave as it is.
Nobody around me is into knitting or crochet so feeling a little lost.

Please help and advise. Thankyou
