If I enjoy it I think I'll do another one with all the bright pinks and greens etc, maybe for my niece as a present!
Finished the bowl cozy's, was nice to do a quick project Smile

lazylinguist I’m hoping mine will go with our living room, when we finally decide on a colour for the walls.

sophs oh wow, did you make the label too? That looks very swanky and professional.

lazylinguist · 19/01/2021 18:41

sophs that's really cute! Added kudos if you made the label. I did a wrap-around label for my MIL's socks. She said she liked it nearly as much as the socks, though the label took about 10 mins and the socks took hours and hours. Grin

Oh thank you @InTheNightWeWillWish & @lazylinguist but no I can't take credit haha! It was a printable from the lady that created the bowl cozy pattern!
But it has given me ideas to make my own for other makes and just print them on pretty card!

givemebooks · 19/01/2021 21:15

Evening all! Some amazing designs and makes on here! The Bowl cozy is utterly inspired!! And firmly on the list of to do makes now!

I received my dispatched email from wool warehouse this afternoon so fingers crossed not long to wait!

I have spent the weekend continuing my sons blanket and took a break on sunday to make a new little crewmate with his mini mate pet for my eldest!

The navy wool for edging my sons blanket is in the wool warehouse order too! Any advice on how best to edge and simply granny style blanket? Same stich? Different? Especially to stop the edges curling (i am still learning tension!!) Thanks 😊

The bowl cosies look great, I think they'll go on my to do list.

Felt quite apt finishing off the rain boots for my turtle whilst listening to the rain pour down outside.

Ermergherd @tizwozliz he's so cute! I have actual real turtles, but have never made one.

givemebooks · 19/01/2021 21:21

Oh my god @tizwozliz he is adorable!!!!

lucysmam · 19/01/2021 21:30

Bowl cozies are a brilliant idea & will be going on my to do list too! I've also added a holder thingumy for my hand sanitiser on my work lanyard...everyone keeps asking why I still have Santa on there Grin. I just keep refilling the little bottle because I can never get the bigger one to stay attached with a bobble like my colleagues have managed to do 🤷‍♀️

tizwoz the turtle's ace! Very well photographed too - he looks very professional all round :)

I gave up on yellow orange for the night. I just cba. I've half worked out how to increase the pattern I'm using instead, I think. The legs have me stumped though. I'm not sure how far to decrease them & over how many rounds iyswim? I think I need to work my way down by 20 rounds all the same, then decrease to 6 x scdec over the last four but need to do it to see if I'm right. That's 3.5 little crewmates off first though!

longtompot · 19/01/2021 21:39

In trying to quickly make a gentle ripple crochet blanket (attic24 pattern) I have hurt my left wrist. I'm right handed and that one's fine. So now I won't get it finished in time to post to the US before the end of the month for my nephews 1st birthday and I'm having to wear a wrist brace :( A bit annoying to say the least.

InTheNightWeWillWish · 19/01/2021 21:47

tizwozliz that turtle is so cute 😍 I love his little wellies!

tizwozliz · 19/01/2021 22:13

I'm still waiting on colours to come back into stock before I can complete my yarn order. I don't know how quickly things come back into stock (or if they do at all) so not sure whether I should wait or not.

lazylinguist · 19/01/2021 22:39

That turtle 😍!

longtompot your poor wrist. Sad Hope it's better soon.

givemebooks - I've only ever edged one crochet blanket, but the pattern just said to do a few rounds of dc around the edge, so that's what I did. I was astonished at how much neater and more finished it made it, especially the corners.

I'm glad the bowl cozies were a hit! I must admit there's something about snuggling up on the sofa with a hot bowl of soup and one of those would be much nicer than an old tea towel so it will also be on my to do list for myself!

@tizwozliz that little turtle is just adorable! Do you sell them or make them for yourself? They're excellent!

fuckrightoff · 20/01/2021 09:47

@lazylinguist when you edge a square how many DC do you do on the corner stitches? Is it extra for the turn?

tizwozliz · 20/01/2021 09:48

I don't sell, they mainly get given away as gifts or just clutter up the house. In normal times, I wouldn't just randomly make things but at the moment I'm looking through my pattern books and choosing things based on what's in my stash just for something to do.

sophs29 · 20/01/2021 09:58

I don't blame you @tizwozliz they're so good, they'd make lovely gifts etc!

lazylinguist · 20/01/2021 11:04

fuckrightoff - I did 3 rounds of dc, doing one dc into the top of each stitch along the top and bottom and 1-3 dc into the ends of the stitches along each side, depending on the size of the stitch (tr, dtr etc), and 3dc into each corner stitch. It said to go all the way round, join to your first stitch with a ss, then turn the blanket over and go back round in the opposite direction, so that's what I did!

Feel a bit cheeky post here, when you are all amazing crafter's. I have decided to try crocheting again, so far I can manage a chain. I'm having trouble moving on from there but I'll keep going and I might actually make something passable.

SoupDragon · 20/01/2021 11:20

All of us were at that stage once, @Runforwine!

lazylinguist · 20/01/2021 11:23

Keep at it, Runforwine! SoupDragon is right, and some of us were at that stage really quite recently (I'm a recent convert to crochet).

Keep going @Runforwine I only started just under a year ago! YouTube tutorials really helped me because I learn well by watching and I used to just try and do it along side the videos!

sophs29 · 20/01/2021 11:55

It's arrived Grin have no idea now whether to just randomise the colours or do them in some sort of colour order!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 20/01/2021 12:30

@Runforwine I started crocheting halfway through lockdown 2.0, so late November or early December last year. I started doing blocks but couldn’t get my head around it (and couldn’t get further than a chain). I then tried a granny square following YouTube videos, then moved onto blocks and working from a chain. I think it’s easier with a granny square because you get something pretty at the end but you can scale them up or down, practice stitches and colour changes. I’m not a master crafter, far from it actually, but I can make granny squares and I’ve made a few scarves that actually look like scarves. But I’ve still scrapped more projects than I’ve finished.

lazylinguist · 20/01/2021 13:48

I absolutely love those colours together, sophs!

I started crocheting a few years ago, made a few squares and then didn't do any more for a long time! I never attempted anything other than granny squares until I did the Seaside Stashbuster blanket during the first lockdown.

I still sometimes have trouble with fairly basic things. I'm currently making another seemingly very simple granny square and I keep having to rip out the same round because I can't seem to count right and end up with the right number of stitches in the right bit. Confused
