It took 6 blardy weeks (mainly 'cos I kept sidetracking myself lol) but 'tis finally done. dd's face when she saw it finished made all the crampy hands worthwhile

that is really good gb!, definitely worth while

i design and make rag dolls and toys amongst other things for craft kits so i could be classed as an expert

i'm really impressed, what fabric did you use for him?

i really want to make dd a 'lola' doll for xmas this year. i've seen the charlie&lola dolls in the shops but, to be honest, didn't think much to them, hoping i can do better.

GreebosWhiskers · 13/08/2007 09:37

Thanks folks

RubyRioja - I have plans for a Martha (or possibly a Rose - I can't decide) but she'll have to wait 'til I finish the million other projects on the go

dd now wants a 'doctor who spaceship' but as the damn doll is about 18" tall I can't see her getting one to scale or I'd be knitting all year lol.

lucykate - he's 100% knitted! 'twas rather fiddly, especially the ears, nose & hands.

wow, the face and hands work really well, you've done well getting all that detail in with knitting.

makealist · 13/08/2007 09:48

That's well cool

missgriss · 13/08/2007 09:52

Greebos that is lovely! I'm well impressed

You could make a career out of knitting things like that

I never thought of making one out of cardboard! I like the sound of the life-size one but dh would have a fit as you can't move for kid stuff here as it is!

missgriss - I'd love to make a career out of it but it takes me so long to knit anything I'd never make any money lol.

That's brilliant!

Tillyboo · 13/08/2007 10:28

Very clever ! I think he would be very popular with the die hard Doctor Who fans

A Tardis and Dalek would go down well too ?

GreatAuntieWurly · 13/08/2007 10:29

can I have one wearing a kilt please

GreebosWhiskers · 13/08/2007 10:31

I do have plans for a dalek - I'll let you know how that goes.

Was also wondering if I could adapt the dr who pattern to make a cyberman out of silver goldfingering.

Right now I'm doing a caterpillar for ds, a frilly beaded crochet scarf for me to wear to a party next week, a felted vase for the birthday girl who's having the party . . .

Maybe for xmas sigh . . .

GreatAuntieWurly - lol. Would he have to be anatomically correct?

I'd love to see David Tennant in a kilt.

Greebo, that is stunning! I so envy people who can devise knitting projects like this, you are really talented!
Erm, would you be at all willing to share the pattern...? So that uninspired knitters like me could have a go?

Gingermonkey · 13/08/2007 10:43

that is absolutely brilliant. Well done!!!!

GreebosWhiskers · 13/08/2007 11:10

I just adapted the Barnacle Bill pattern from the July issue of Simply Knitting. If you can get a back issue of the mag I can write down the corrections & email them to anyone who's interested.

You can order a back issue here

Marina · 13/08/2007 11:24

Oh, of course! I am a subscriber so have the mag, but I will CAT you for your amendments if I may. Thank you so much

puppydavies · 13/08/2007 11:27

heh fantastic

there's a pattern for a dalek if you need one.

NoBiggy · 13/08/2007 11:27

Well done, that's superb!
