Sexists. How much a metre do you pay for your sewing fabric? What’s too cheap/too expensive?

Hellooooo, just the above, really. I’ve been paying around £10 a meter, give or take a quid or 2, for cotton fabric. Is that expensive, or ok?
What are your thoughts?
How much do you pay?
Thanks in advance, any advice appreciated.

Awesome typo. Where are you located? In London there are some great areas for deals on fabric, like Goldhurst Road near Hammersmith.

Not a scooby about fabrics.

I'd hope for slightly less than that for a dressmaking or craft cotton, but at least that for a nice printed jersey.
I mainly sew mine and the DCs' clothes so I use a lot of jersey.

Happy that I’ve made people laugh 😄
Gotta go now, but thanks all, you’ve come up with some great suggestions and advice.

Grinyour title did make me snigger
It really depends on the fabric. I tend to buy general fabric from a local end of line store which is fab and boyes who very cheap.
If I buy online I tend to be looking for something in particular so price isn't always a factor.

Are you near Birmingham? Good stores there. Or Abakhans which are everywhere up t'North.

I like Remnant House, and have had some great ebay bargains, especially for lining fabric
